This is my first response to a subject on Briskoda since joining. I have enjoyed reading the many responses over the past few years and would like to share my experiences with our latest Skoda Kamiq Ambition purchased two years ago from our local dealer here in south west France. This replaced a Skoda Yeti Ambition 1.4 tsi with a dsg transmission which we had for five years with trouble free motoring except for the replacement of the rear wiper motor and rear door lock both replaced under warranty.
The Kamiq is now just two years old from new fitted with the one litre tsi engine with dsg transmission. It has been a very comfortable car to drive and has plenty of power for both city and highway driving. But this really great vehicle is completely spoilt and let down by the electronic gremlins. It has frequently been the victim of the SOS light coming on and instructing me to drive to a workshop. Then I had the control screen blackout completely ,followed recently during a rain storm the front wipers stopped working for 24 hours before working again. Our local Skoda garage have been very supportive and fixed the problems but since the are a VW and Skoda service specialist I can see that these problems are also on other models.
My wife used to enjoy driving the Yeti but is not so happy with the digital controls on the Kamiq. We are now thinking of replacing this with a secondhand Yeti and if not the new Dacia Duster 1.3 automatic.
