  1. Already thought of that Oli but it is very hard to proove. If I had Vag com plugged in before I had it serviced then I would have had a case but because the minmium for a variable is close to the fixed service interval it would be to hard to proove - although it must be pure coincidence that the spanner started flashing at 8900 miles with 500 miles to go which is exactly the same as the fixed interval. I've asked around and the lowest that anyone hase come accross on the engine (PD170) is 14/15k and that is accross the whole VAG group I'm going to ring the dealer and speak to the owner who I have always dealt with but to be honest I think I know what the response will be PS I still fancy walking in and relieving them of a roofbox but surely that would be theft ??
  2. My neighbour who is a techinician at VW came around last night with the touch screen comptomoter and plugged it in and would you believe it the dash was set to fixed services allways had been. The comp said I had 18800 miles to the next service and something like 700 Days. So the service manager of the establishment was talking out of his poo hole. Firstly the car was set up on fixed servicing and didn't need to be serviced at 9.5k like I told him (it should have been set on variable) and secondly it had not been reset to variable as he had told me. I'm contacting the dealer principal over this as I'm rather displeased at paying for a variable service at 9.5k when I didn't need to. As a family we have been loyal to this dealer and must have spent in excessive of over £100k on cars with them over the past 6 years and it is hard pill to swallow considering this is the second time this stunt has been pulled when I've bought new cars from them
  3. I've been on to them with the bill infront of me that quite clearly states long life oil - the car is only 5 months old FFS and the little xxxx of a service manager said I didn't know what I was talking about. The service spanner came on at 8900 miles with 500 miles to go indicating a fixed service interval of 9400 miles it is now saying I have 7900 miles to go after the car has done approx (serviced in december at about 9.8k)10k - I'm £170ish pound worse off I might just go into the dealers and help myself to whatever they have on display (matts roofbox etc). I will be naming and shaming these guys as they give Skoda a bad name for pulling stunts like this I'm getting mad now can anyone in East mids have a look at it with VAG com - It's worth a crate of Stella to anyone that will help
  4. No free servicing on mine and it's not the first time it's happened (happened before on a different car - which one of the regular posters on here knows about) Update I've just checked the car and it's showing the next service at 7900 miles - someone is having a bloody laugh - thieving scum stealers rant uncontrollable swearing etc etc
  5. Eccleshill you have hit the nail straight on the head but my problem was that the dealer would not accept my explination which was the same as yours - If this happens again which it will at 18800 miles what should I do let the dealer rob me again or a variable service or is it easy for some one on this board to detect and reset it with VAG Com. I was also wondering about buying VAG-com (thingyMK11 turboitchybum) is it east to use ?
  6. I had the same with a brand new VRS that requied a service after 9k (light came on at 8.9k saying 500 miles to go) my theory is that it was set to fixed service but the stealer said it needed a service. If I was into conspericies I would say it's a good way for the stealers to generate extra services (allegedly, without prejudice etc) This thing seems to be happening more often now as I've seen a couple of posts about it and it may be worth while collating all these posts as I for one wouldn't mind hearing from other members regarding this as I'm still debating whether to contact Skoda customer care
  7. My local dealer advised me I need a service after the indicator came on at 8900 miles (from new) which is coincidentally 500 miles before the fixed service interval. The car is only 4 months old and lives on a motorway at between 2-2.5k revs so I find it very hard to believe that it need a service. There is minimum for the variable service which is near the fixed service interval but having asked around I've not found anyone who has had a variable at 9.4k miles with the common area milage between 17/18k which I used to achieve on my previous 2 vrs - If my theory is right regarding the services I won't be having another skoda
  8. Well I'm going to Oxford Tommorrow so we'll see whether it works or not as thats about 300 miles round trip - Check my other post out regarding servicing as I'm not a very happy shoppper at the moment
  9. What length of service are you guys getting from the PD170 engine as I fell that I might have had my leg lifted Car is 4 months old and service light came on 8800 miles it's driven on a motorway at 70/80mph all day. I checked up and the fixed service interval is 9300 mile and I also checked that my car was set for variable service which it was. The service manage was adiment that the car needed a service as it was "saying so" even though I tried explaining that have checked elsewhere it was a case of the service indicator on the dash not been set right. Can anyone advise ?
  10. It's funny I did mention to the stealer about the revo map and would it affect it and he said no
  11. My car has just gone in for the 26e6 update and the car now runs very lumpy. It's had a revo map from new with no problems with the DPF light Is the this update a known problem for cars that have the revo map ??
  12. Our Mildreds x3 has been in three times due to paint peeling off the parking sensors and making them not work. Apparently it's a known fault and BMW won't let the dealers spray them up now they are sent out ready colour coded. The paint finish of my skoda is a million times better than the bmw but at least they have acknowledged the problem
  13. Snap - just had the same is it anything important as I'm dead busy at the moment (someone has to be in construction) and I havn't got the time to take it in
  14. I've just bought a new pd estate with a "slight adaption to the ecu programme" and all I would say is "christ on a bike". If you are looking for new you will get more toys on a pd if you drive it right will proove a very quick car - I'll do a full report on mine after a month but if you do a search you'll find pics of it which my mate described as a "right little snorter" - after a change of underwear
  15. very nice - let me know what it's like (does anyonr tow with the DSG box)
  16. Buster let me know what you think as I think I must have got the Last PD engine but you got the 18" alloys etc thrown in and I also managed to negociate a bit of a mod which won't yet be available on the CRD engine. I'm interested because I'll be changing mine every year so the next step is the crd
  17. My door card went the same but I figured out it was where I was resting my elbow when driving
  18. Here are the pics. It's the PD engine as to be honest I've never had a problem with my old 4x4 with the pd engine and you got the jumbo box, alloys & climatronic & rear elec windows thrown in. I was expecting it to be a lot harsher than it is but perhaps I'm easily pleased. It's got the rear parking sensors & privacy glass - It's also got a multi play cd in the boot which I wasn.t expecting and will never get used so if anyone wants it let me know. It seems to handle pretty well (dunlop tyres) but is hard to get going in the wet (after coming from a 4x4 a delicate touch is required). I'm thinkng of the mfd2 upgrade but as I've had a parrot system fitted and got a tom tom don't know whether I can justify it or not.
  19. Which ones if any can you upload the "safety camera" database on can any one advise. I've posted a link to one which I think you might be able to as it will run tom tom but I'm not the sure. I may just use the safe option and stay with my tom tom
  20. Just picked up my new TDi vrs with the jumbo, alloys etc and all I can say is what a car. I've had to adopt a different driving approach from my old oct 4x4 (throttle to the floor in all gears) but my only compliant is a little orange light that keeps coming on in 1st, 2nd & 3rd gear;) (and yes I am taking it steady) I will post some piccies when I can get on the other comp to re-size them but it's a silver estate with the dark rear glass I'm thinking of getting the mfd2 fitted but not sure which one to go for as I've had a parrot hands free kit installed but I would like a system that I can put the speed cameras on. Has anyone any ideas or should I just stick to my tom tom
  21. there seems to be loads of different one's out there with prices from £325 to £440 whats the differences - I've found this one what does anyone think ? 7" 2 Din Car DVD Player GPS/PC Bluetooth Volkswagon/VW on eBay, also GPS Systems, Navigation GPS, In-Car Entertainment GPS, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 06-Jul-08 21:30:00 BST)
  22. Well my warrenty (into third year +60k) has expired. I wondered is it a common fault or just look of the draw ?
  23. Warrenty is limited to 60k or 3 years which ever is the sooner car is 2 years old with 60.5k on. It went in for a service before the 60k to iron out any little niggles and this wasn't mentioned but went magically after the 60k had expired
  24. Well I've just had my air con magically stop working at 60400 miles even though it weant for a full service the week before at 59800 and no faults were found !!! The only cause of action I've been told is to have a skoda air con service @ £70 (even though a friend runs a car air con business and has had a look and says it's not the gas could be the compressor). After that I was quoted £140 for a diagnostic check then I'm at the mercy of Skoda whether any warrenty will be honoured.
  25. Well it's the old pd but I've negociated a bit of a "generic remap" type thingy into the deal which I pressume will not be out on the new engine yet
