I've finally binned the idea of getting a 2.0TSI. Spookliy I know Gunner216 (post#86) personally and called him asking how he was getting on with his VRS only to be told he'd posted here! This was before i knew he was even a member on here. It's all too close for comfort for me so I'm out.

Thanks very much, that's helpful. I notice that a few '12' plates have the silver interior trim whereas this one has the fake carbon. I'm presuming based on that fact that there must have been a crossover period for that trim change sometime in 2012 which may mean a later manufacturing date? I'll go straight for the label in any case and if it isn't there will be asking about dates etc. Thanks again.

Hi gents/ladies; first post so apologies for wading in with a question. I'm viewing a 2012 (12) registered 2.0TSI VRS this week (29,000 miles, FDSH). My question is; is this car likely to be affected with this issue, or do questions have to be asked of the dealer (ie. engine codes/upgraded tensioners etc.) Any pointers/suggestion would be gratefully received.
