  1. Thanks. Can I just ask, what does VCDS stand for? I guess its some sort of Diagnostic System? Cheers Dave
  2. Thanks for all the useful replies. I think I will get it scanned first. But, regarding the pedal, I have tried putting my foot under the pedal to pull it up and it doesn't make a difference. Its interesting you say about the temperature sender, as it is running cooler than I would have expected, typically it stays at the 1st quarter on the temp gauge, rather than remaining in the middle after its warmed up. It was the other little job on my list to investigate! Thanks again, very helpful.
  3. Hello I have recently brought a 2002 1.9tdi fabia, I got it pretty cheap as its a few years old. Its been fine apart from this running problem. A few times a week, say 10% of the time it is running, it idles high, up to 2000rpm on start up, but then returns to normal idle speed after about 1 second, just like I have started it with my foot on the accelerator. In addition to this it often starts idling at about 1100rpm or fluctuating between 900 and 1100rpm when the car is stationary. If I stop using the car for a few hours it often runs normally for the rest of the day, its never constantly running erratically. In another post I saw that someone had a similar problem that was likely to be a faulty throttle position sensor. To start with i'm going to change the fuel filter and see what happens, because I don't know when it was last changed. Any ideas? Cheers Dave
