  1. Indeed, and I know we have been incredibly lucky with our boy as on the spectrum he hasn't picked up many of the 'learning disability' elements that seem common with ASD, so I can only speak from my experience. I did write a blog about it if anyone is intersted: http://lifewithoutgrey.blogspot.co.uk/ though it could do with an update!
  2. Good stuff, though you have your engine listed as a H4, which is the hybrid indicator - I suspect it should be L4!
  3. OK so can't figure out where to post this, but as I am beginning to call this section 'home' thought I would start here. I have been looking to get into Podcasting for a while and wonder if anyone would have an interest in listening to a 'Skodcast', essentially a one-man audio review of life with a new Skoda Superb. Possibly only a 3-part podcast, 20-minutes each, likely on Soundcloud, with a bit of production value and some humour. There are lots of car based Podcasts, and lots of journalist review places (YouTube, car www's etc) but I'd like to think that the Skoda community has a certain sense of humour and humility whilst also being somewhat ourageous, righteous and proud. So am I crazy to think that it would be 10-20 hours of valuable effort to produce this mini-series? Or a complete waste of time in this time-precious world with a million and one better things to do? Would you listen?
  4. I'm not sure it really matters, you can select 'partial fill' and over time it will figure it all out for you. At least that's what I think - I've done two brim to brim fill ups so far so not really the man to take advice from!
  5. Just a quick comment on this which no-one seems to have clarified. A company car essentially acts as an extra part of your salary. You get Paid 30K a year, get a 5K car allowance, then you get taxed on £35K. £30K a year plus a company car means you are taxed on £30K + the BIK rate for your car (so say, for example, as a result of the CO2 emissions your car has a BIK rate of 10%, and you are driving a nice 5-series valued (by the government) at £50K, then your total taxable salary is £35K.) You then need to understand your personal running costs (e.g. nil for a company car with fuel paid for) and then look at what alternatives there are. For pool cars, I have no idea if this is the same, but just reading through this thread I was frustrated no-one explained it like this, which is the best way I had it explained to me! Hope this helps someone!
  6. A little late to this thread but reading through I have a lot of similarities. I have a 10 year old on the Autistic spectrum - no interest in sports and competitive action just sends him into a frenzy - the second he fears he is losing, he's out. Autism is a social disorder where you can (it's a spectrum so not all true for everyone) really struggle to learn social norms - like the fun in competitive sport. So, he wants to read and watch YouTube all day - we let him read whenever he wants, we limit his YouTube time and we try and get him to the gym to swim based on the scientific assessment that he should try and be healthy and fit to ensure his body works properly. My 8 year old is sport mad. Golf, football, swimming, cricket. I encourage him to try whatever he wants and do all the ferrying about to sports evenings, training, lessons etc (which by the way is now my favourite activity in my new Skoda Superb!). The original question was about a kid who wants to do this stuff and then doesn't want to participate. Have you asked him how he feels about it? What happens when he is there? What does he enjoy about it? Maybe he likes to socialise, or just watch? Maybe he likes the energy release so a football camp seems perfect? At 6-years old this is still (as many others have said) extremely early. Your investment in allowing him to do what he wants and encourage him should not be balanced against the financial outlay (though as a Scotsman... I'm not going there!). It is simply a commitment to allowing him to pursue what he wants to do which is by far the more altruistic thing. You seem like a good dad, and much better to vent here rather than at home. I would suggest you try and find other opportunities where he can socialise - have you tried Beavers/Cubs (not sure of the Beavers age range)? What about his friends, does he play with them outside of school? Keep finding ways to get him out there and mixing and don't worry about the longer-term outcomes at this stage. When he turns 8/9/10, you will see how he focuses more and understands his own personal plan - that's the time to encourage him to start knuckling down and putting effort into doing something properly. Just my 2-cents.
  7. I had them in mine, but mine was ordered through Zenith as a Company Car, so they may have popped them in. Interestingly, the door umbrellas were hidden underneath them in the boot compartment.
  8. I'm averaging 49.7MPG after a 300 mile round trip today. Can I just ask, why are there only 5 Superb III's on Fuelly?! I heartily recommend that if people want to collate their MPGs and compare against other owners, you should get the Fuelly App. It's far from pretty, and you need to ensure you select L4 as the engine type (took me a bit of trawling to figure that out), and of course mine is a 'wagon' in Fuelly, rather than an Estate/Combi, but I'm using it for every refuel and the more people use it the better the results will be!
  9. It's a mystery! To be revealed shortly. Let's just say, it's a BIG reveal! . . . . . Ok, Estate.
  10. Quick note, on mine the Umbrellas were in the boot storage compartment (right hand side) along with the safety triangle.
  11. Thanks - seems like a great community here so I'm looking forward to being a part of it!
  12. Well I presume because mine is a company car via Zenith, they have snaffled the goody bag! I'm pretty sure it's the micro-USB cable - my phone will only charge with very new cables because the socket is weak after 2 and a half years, so I think that is the problem. I have tried CarPlay with my work iPhone, that works perfectly, just doesn't have all my media and stuff on it! Plus I prefer Google Maps to Apple Maps.
  13. Makes sense - either that or the sub for the sound system, which is excellent by the way! Thanks for all the replies to date.
