  1. Hi All, I have an amber engine warning light showing, the car sounds a little rough but still drives ok. Does anyone near Chester have VCDS that I could borrow to check codes? Fabia 1.4tdi BMV 2007
  2. I've recently swapped my SDI hatchback in for a 1.4TDI bohemia estate YAY! One minor issue it had when I bought it was a small tear in the driver's seat. The seat still works fine but i'd really like to get it fixed. ebay hasn't yielded a replacement option. Anyone know any ways to replace parts of the bottom seat cushion (where your bottom goes...)? or any good upholsterers? (ideally near the chester area).
  3. Hi all, I've been having trouble with my 1.9 SDI. Really have to slip the clutch to get moving and mpg is worse at all speeds according to trip CPU. Another symptom is that car doesn't gain speed downhill even if I put clutch in. To try and cure this Ive since serviced / replaced all brakes to no improvement. Whilst doing the front brakes I noticed that front wheels are really hard to rotate (even with two hands) while on jack's and out of gear. No free spin at all. I tried with calliper removed too just to make sure it's not brakes as I first though. Is it gearbox / diff? It's the same on both sides. Came on fairly suddenly a few weeks after service so I noticed the rapid deterioration in performance. Car was running a treat too Please help I don't want to pay a garage to start "investigating"
  4. I stripped the mech down and all the parts / solder actually looked fine. wires in the rubber trunking are very tight, especially one of the pink ones, none are visibly broken though could this be causing the door lock mech to not be working properly?
  5. problem refurfaced after a couple of weeks. i took out fuel sender and cleaned it (there was a lot of residue inside it) in the process this fully bled the fuel lines. since then the problem has completely gone away.
  6. I have the symptoms you describe above, no lights warning alarm / door open led etc. and cannot unlock on remote. I know I have to change microswitch to get the door open alarm back but would this microswitch also affect the door central locking actuator? my wiring in the door trunking is all ok.
  7. cleaned the pump the night before taking to the garage to make it really easy to spot a leak. mechanic said he couldn't see and leaks and began checkin diagnostics as a matter of course. he found that my injection pump timing was set incorrectly. likely from when the cam belt was changed. sorted £20 starts on first crank every time
  8. all fuel lines are ok. i spotted the leak on the injector head so i need to change the injector head seal: (7 parts) got it in the garage on friday to get a quote
  9. Hello again. The leak is actually on on the the gaskets on the injector pump. Can see it's we just where the high pressure lines come. The injector head I think. Worth doing a DIY on it I have seen a gasket set for 15£ online. But I know I need vagcom to check fuel dose after refitting. Anyone done this?
  10. Engine bay and fuel sender just off google. there is not tandem pump on the side just the one at the bottom of the picture there
  11. i mean fuel sender not lift pump - there is no in tank pump (1.9SDI) should there still be a NRV?
  12. Hi I have a starting problem as many other SDI / TDI owners seem to have reported where after a few hours stood the engine cranks several times before starting due to air in the fuel lines due to fuel bleeding back into the tank. I have replaced the clips on the low pressure fuel hoses with jubilee clips as well as changed the fuel filter and the return valve (incl o-rings) but this didn't work. I took the lift pump out to check the NRV and it has failed and fuel leaks out of the bottom of it. I bought another sender unit off ebay but it also has a bad NRV! has anyone ever fixed the NRV on a lift pump? am I barking up the wrong tree?
  13. Hi there, glad to join this super forum fab mk1 1.9 sdi (should have bought the turbo)
