  1. It appears that early citigos don’t have holes in the body to fit arch liners. Mine is a 62 plate. I spent all morning poking around with a small screwdriver. I scraped an patch of sealant off in the area where one of the holes should be after studying Owen’s photos in his tech guide and there was no hole. I’m deciding whether to drill mounting holes or give up on the idea and put the parts in the For Sale section. Its a bit difficult to see because of the cavity wax mess. My car above compared with Owen’s below.
  2. My citigo had similar symptoms and it turned out to be the engine earth lead had corroded away.
  3. Couldn’t find any carbon fibre coffee tins. 😄
  4. Thought I’d share this easy fix for the common problem of the heat shield clips pulling through the shield letting it fall onto the exhaust or vibrate against the body causing loads of noise. First I made myself some 50mm discs from suitable sheet metal. Usually I would go and scrounge some offcuts of 0.8mm aluminium from my mates engineering shop but seeing as we’re locked down at the moment I used the base of a coffee tin. I can replace this again when I can get some aluminium. I punched a 6mm hole in the centre of the disc for the stud on the body to go through. I ordered some of the clips off ebay because the original ones are all pretty rotten now. These cost pennies. The original clip and plastic locator had pulled right through the shield. I ended up ruining the old clip getting it off. I just put the 50mm disc onto the stud and over the hole in the shield and secured it all up with the new clip and plastic locator. You can see the copperslip grease I blobbed underneath oozing out. The heat shield came loose at the front shortly after I bought the car in 2014. I repaired it in this way and the repair still holds. I replaced the rear two today which were dragged off during the flooding we had earlier in the year. Only one left on the shield that hasn’t been repaired now.
  5. The clip on my citigo is broken but it is at the edge of the windscreen. Has anyone replaced one of these? I’m a bit concerned about breaking the plastic pillar trim trying to remove it.
  6. I’m located in Stoke-on-Trent, nowhere near the coast. The car has only covered 25k miles. When I bought the car from a car dealership the engine bay had been jet washed and I presume any anti corrosion coatings where probably washed off?
  7. Has the heat shield above the exhaust fallen down onto the exhaust? This is a common problem and it’s quite noisy when it happens.
  8. Try a drop of oil on the door hinges.
  9. Hi All, I have recently been having some electrical woes with my Citigo because of a corroded earth strap on the engine. Disconnecting the battery threw up 19 error codes. I’ve managed to clear all but one of them with my xtool vag401 scan tool. The only code that remains is 62 LR-DOOR ELECTRONIC MALFUNCTION. When I press enter on the code to access the module I get the message “failed to connect “ Anyone have any idea how to clear this code? I assume the message refers to left rear door and the car is a 2 door model.
  10. Hi All, I’ve been trying to figure out why my 2013 26k mile citigo would only start with a jump start for a week. The AA man insisted it was a duff battery so I fitted a new one. Still nothing when I turned the key, not even a click. Scan tool showed trouble code p305400 (starter motor jammed) so I took the motor out and tested it out on the bench. It was working fine. Put the starter back in and still no start. It was then that I connected one of my jump leads between the engine block and battery negative. It started first go. When I gave the earth strap connected to the o/s engine mount a wiggle it came apart in my hand. This must be a common fault on citigos of a similar age now, so anyone having strange starting or electrical problems have a look at your earth strap before you go buying a new battery or taking out the starter motor.

  12. I scanned my 2013 citigo for fault codes today with a hand held scanner (xtool vag401) and it found one code P013400. I believe this means there is a fault with the pre cat o2 sensor or the wiring to it. Funny thing was the engine management light has never come on. Is this normal? I've erased the code now and I'll check to see if its returned in a few days.
  13. I've got one of these, its much better than an easybleed.
  14. loads of breakers on ebay dismantling citigos & ups.

  16. Hi all. Just thought I'd say hi to everyone. Picked up my first Skoda yesterday, a 2013 Citigo greentech elegance to replace my aging lupo. I'll probably be asking loads of daft questions soon. Andy
