  1. Not sure if it is necessary however I recall a thread here discussing that, from factory, the electric boot cannot be closed remotely (can only be closed via the button at the bottom of the boot lid, which will rise quite high if the boot lid is opened fully). If it concerns you then it may be worth checking with the dealer if that is still the case, or if they can program in some remote closing for you. Good luck with the search!
  2. Hi all, thank you very much for the replies! Just to clarify my left hatch does indeed swing open like the right hatch. The only difference is that while the right hatch stays hinged securely when opened fully, the left hatch unhinges/falls off when swung beyond approx. 60 degrees. The tabs on my left hatch does not seem to be broken or torn, which got me wondering if it was really a design decision. On my car the left storage compartment houses the CANTON subwoofer and Velcro organisers, so it’s really just a slight inconvenience whenever I pop the hatch to access the organisers. I took the car to the dealership and they claimed that, after checking with their stock and other dealerships, that’s indeed how the left hatch is supposed to behave. While I’m not entirely convinced I’ve decided to leave it at that. On the other hand, I’d be interested to know if anyone has bothered with a DIY solution to secure the left hatch that doesn’t involve ripping out the back seats
  3. Happy Friday, folks! Got a quick question for you. I was poking around the mini inner storage compartment inside the boot (on the left-hand side, housing the Velcro organisers and CANTON subwoofer) and noticed that the lid comes off completely and effortlessly when unlatched. Please see the attached photo. In comparison, the lid on the right-hand side seems more securely hinged to the boot floor and swings open like a door. Not sure if the lid was designed to be easily removed or if it’s somewhat defective. Do you have the same observations in your boots? Edit to add car info: S3 hatch, L&K with CANTON sound system Thanks!
  4. As mentioned by others it may have to do with the DSG gear lever. In the Drive gear, if you push the lever to right (to engage manual shifting), the car would automatically go into Sport mode. The car would stay in Sport mode even after you push the lever to the left (back to the usual Drive gear).
  5. I suppose the demand for "fun" colours would be so small that Skoda/local service centres can't justify supplying/stocking the paints. Even here in Prague, excluding the yellow taxis, 99.9% of S3 I've seen so far are black/grey/silver/white. The remaining 0.1% are cappuccino/solid red/lava blue.
  6. Ah... close but no cigar. I've rolled both front seats all the way back and all 4 rails look quite intact. Unless I'm missing something? Looks like we have a cold case here.
  7. Picked up the showroom queen a week ago. The car fortunately checks all the boxes for me as it comes almost fully loaded. Options not included: 4x4, sunroof, 19-inch rims Some of the highlights: - L&K hatch - 190 TDI DSG (so far so smooth) - Lava Blue (unexpectedly gorgeous) - 18-inch Pegasus rims with Anthracite finish (best looking Skoda rims IMO) - Black/grey interior (biege would've looked awesome but black is just so effortless) - Heated and ventilated seats (how did we drive for so long without backend cooling?) - Memory seats, Columbus, CANTON - Flappy paddles, DCC, rear view camera - 18-inch spare wheel, mud flaps, Virtual Paddle (surprisingly more than just a gimmick) - ACC, blindspot detection, lane assist, auto parking, dynamic light thing (will figure out how they all work soon...) - Boatload of space and joy
  8. Some good guesses, guys. Although it seems like it's still a mystery after inspecting the back of both front seats rolling them back and forth. :S Really appreciate the input so far though!
  9. Hello, I've recently loaded a bunch of MP3s into an SD card which was inserted into the glove box card slot. Each MP3 has been tagged with high-res album art (approx. 1000x1000px JPEG). While the Columbus unit plays all the songs normally, it doesn't seem to display all album arts. So for some songs it would show the tagged album art, for others it just shows the Skoda generic art. Seems to happen at random. Any idea on why's that? Thanks!
  10. Hi guys, picked up my Lava Blue S3 L&K hatch 190 DSG a week ago and been loving it. The night after I picked up the car I noticed that there was a stray piece of plastic on the back seat. As you can see from the photos it looks like it was ripped out of something rather violently. The plastic is black and has a cheap feel to it (for the lack of a better description). It is about half the size of the car key fob. It has a Skoda logo stamped on the back of it too. Any idea where it might be from? Or perhaps some foreign object left behind by the folks at the dealership? Appreciate any input and wild guesses
  11. Having seen both Alcantara and leather S3 seats in the showroom, I'd go for leather purely based on looks. I think Alcantara looks fantastic in a sporty setup whereas the S3 seats are too squared and, for the lack of a better word, non-sporty.
  12. Thank so much for the quick uploads dstev2000 and Gizmo68! I actually think the mud flaps complete the looks of the cars on 19-inch rims. Hopefully they'll have a similar effect complementing 18-inch rims too. philpix I think the mud flaps blend in rather well with Petrol Blue and Business Grey alike!
  13. Reviving an old thread here... It seems that mud flaps would be a practical addition to the S3. Does anyone have photos of what the car looks like as a whole with the mud flaps installed? I'm pondering the thought of installing mud flaps on a Petrol Blue S3 hatch with 18-inch Anthracite Pegasus rims. Thanks!
  14. Very good points. I never paid attention to when the black interior was introduced to S3 L&K as, of all colours, I kind of took it for granted. I suppose the S3 in question has been sitting in the showroom for a while now lol. It's a shame. Of all L&K logos stamped across the car I think the leather embossing is the most tasteful one.
