Options to tick - Ordering a new Fabia Estate: Opinions pls.
RobA replied to DJ_EFK's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk III (2014-2021)
Carwow if offering 24.3% off but this includes £2500 from Skoda with 4.9% PCP. If I want to 0% then the contribution falls to £1250 making the total discount 16.8%... -

Thanks for this. I live in a rural area and drive a fair distance in the dark on unlit roads. This is OK if I can use full beam in the Citigo but when I hit faster A-roads that are also unlit with lots of oncoming traffic the headlights in the Citigo are rubbish. I am happy to pay for the upgrade but want some opinions first as to how good the LED lights are, otherwise there is no real reason to swap out off the Citigo (the lack of power is an annoyance but I have lived with it since 2013 when I bought the first Citigo so i'm sure I can live with it for a little longer!) -

Apologies for high-jacking this thread but this is relevant to me. I am currently on my third Citigo but am looking to upgrade to a Fabia SE 95PS as although the Citigo is fantastic it is a little gutless on hills and away from roundabouts, so am looking for a little more oomph which I found on a recent test drive. The other issue with the Citigo is that the headlights are rubbish. Full beam is good but on using just the headlights the throw is feeble and on a dark country road with lots of ongoing traffic is not very comfortable. Also the ride is a little bouncy on our pockmarked roads. Spec I am looking at is: Solid Blue (I'd prefer a different colour but would rather spend my money elsewhere) Heated seats Armrest (the Citigo is the only car I have owned without one and I do miss it) Spare wheel LED Lights On the last point, are the LED lights worth the £975? I know they also come with cornering fog lights but in terms of beam spread and lentgh on dipped beams are they worth it or should I go with the standard lights and buy better bulbs? Special Osram bulbs made no difference to the Citigo and didn't last long, so i'm not too keen on that. Also I probably won't go for the rain sensor on the understanding that the Fabia has variable intermittent wipers? The Citigo does not and I find I am constantly turning them on and off. If the SE model does not come with the variable intermittent wipe then I will probably go for the rain sensor instead as I quite like also the auto dipping interior mirror. The alternative is to move away from Skoda and try to find something that comes with Xenon or LED lights as standard but that may cost more than the Fabia... Thoughts? Many thanks -
Are you buying the car or leasing it? Two different concepts. If you buy the car then when you come to change it the value in the car can act as a deposit for the next one (providing the original price is paid in full either up front or as a balloon payment on PCP). If you lease a car then when you come to change it a new deposit is paid as you have no value in the old car that is being returned. Leasing is effectively paying the depreciation during the time you have it with no final payment to be made at the end of the arrangement.

New Citigo SEL arrived today. No Maxidot but I do have 3 dials. Oddly I have also been given a mobile phone cradle and PID although I'm not sure the PID will work as there are no longer any connectors in the car where the cradle sits...

Hi, I collected by SEL last week. The parking sensors come as standard? There is a picture in the radio screen, with bars that light up as you get close to an obstacle, moving from amber to red. The beeping tone also changes. Yes, all SEL come with stop-start etc. (IIRC) I average over 65mpg in my old Elegance (60ps) with the tech (Fuelly), so expect similar for this one also. The app is OK but not as good as the PID in my old Citigo.

Did this get resolved? I have no maps either... R

Picked-up new Citigo yesterday. App would not display any navigational maps, so I uninstalled and installed version 1.1. As before, app won't even start. Come back PID - all is forgiven...

FWIW there was an article in a recent Autocar where the new A4 was previewed. I am paraphrasing here as I no longer have the article but a source at Audi stated 'the A4 won't get the 1.4 ACT as they are not really suited to large cars'. Of course that could just be their way of saying 'premium car needs a big engine' and is not a reflection on the performance of the 1.4...

Tar remover from Autoglym is like petrol - very runny clear liquid, but it does work very well though. I think you are advised to polish the panel afterwards?

You have the colleges and various museums in Cambridge city centre as well as the river and botanical gardens. There is also a couple of National Trust properties not too far away (Angelsey Abbey, and another one whose name escapes me at the moment). If going into the city centre, use the park and ride as parking is rather expensive. HTH R

0% interest effectively means 'free' money. We put down the minimum as deposit and save the monthly amount so in 42 months time we will have enough to pay it off and have some left over due to the interest earned. When there is 0% interest (debit) vs x% (credit) why give you money to someone else through paying a high deposit? R

I was told by my dealer that the belt interval is 100,000 miles. I have not bothered to confirm this as it is a few years away yet!
