  1. Very tasty! I'm a little biased though - I've got gunmetal grey Niche on my red MkIII vRS. (Mine are 18x8 ET42 on 235/40 - 19s definitely look better IMHO, but that would have meant new tyres all round and I couldn't afford that at the time.)
  2. New wheels creamvRS? I like! They look gunmetal grey in colour, which I think goes a little better with the dark blue. Details - size, offset, make? Cheers, Jonhonz.
  3. If you can be bothered scrolling through the "Post your Mk3 Octavia photos" thread I'm pretty sure a member posted pics earlier this year of his velvet red Octavia. Personally, I reckon his one looks quite cool - it's certainly different. And your plan of running black rims and trim would make it look even better, IMHO. I say "Go for it - be a bit different". By the way, I have a Corrida red vRS and I love the colour :).
  4. That's handy re; being able to get different offsets like that. I checked last night and at ET42, the rear wheels are probably more like 10+mm away from the line of the guards. I did do all the measurements (using one of the online fitment calculators and a plumb line off the line of the guards) before I bought the wheels, but I haven't kept them, sorry. Good luck - and please post photos (if you can ) when you are done and dusted.
  5. I guess you could try and source different offsets in a 4-wheel set, but I don't know how easy it would be - I've bought three sets of wheels over the years for my different cars and I haven't heard of being able to get different offsets within the same wheel set. Different widths is possible (ie; the 'staggered' approach), but I don't know about offsets. Guess you might just have to make enquiries. That said, even if you could do it, it would limit your options going forward - the rear wheels would always have to be the rear wheels (ie; you couldn't rotate your wheels between front and back). I'd love to post some pics but I don't think I can. I originally posted pics when I got my wheels fitted (in this "Aftermarket Wheels" thread funnily enough) but I used Photobucket and they recently disapplied my account because they had noticed that I had shared the photos with another website (ie; this one). I didn't know I wasn't permitted to do that, and I haven't put in place another option. You could try looking back through this thread, but I suspect the photos have 'disappeared'.
  6. I have 18x8 ET 42 (Niche Targa in gunmetal grey) on my 2014 vRS and they fit fine - front wheels are almost flush with the line of the guard (maybe 1-2mm inside the line), while the rear wheels are maybe 4-6mm inside the line of the guard. ET 30 would be quite big I think - the rim would sit well proud of the line of guard. Mind you, some like that look, so each to their own.
  7. If you use manual mode and slow down and let the box change down itself the 'drop off' is no where near as severe - in fact, in a lot of cases it's not noticeable at all. So, by a long way, the problem is most noticeable (and annoying) in "D" auto mode. And in reply to Octavia5, yep, took the head mech out for a drive twice and they insist there's nothing wrong (they actually have tried to explain it away as being just the super sensitive brakes that the vRS has). In the absence of physical evidence there's a problem, and no computer fault code to say there's a problem, I'm in no-man's land. Xpower, if you find a resolution, please let me know - and I'll do likewise.
  8. I don't want to hijack this thread, but I have had this 'issue' (in bold above) for a while now - I have a 2014 vRS DSG. I haven't seen others post about it though. I've asked the dealer about it three times, and last time they applied a software update. It hasn't remedied the problem. The 'drop-off' for me between 3rd and 2nd on the downshift when in normal "D" mode is very severe - it feels like you are driving a manual and you've just dropped the clutch; it's quite embarrassing sometimes when other people are in the car. I'm sure they think I've launched onto the brakes too hard. Cheers, Johno.
  9. Sorry to hear you are having trouble with the seat vladRS. Unfortunately, I think it is entirely a personal circumstances thing. I find my 2014 MkIII vRS seat the most comfortable of any car seat I've had (and I've owned a few cars). By comparison, I had a Holden Commodore GTR for a while and I had to get rid of it because the seat was too uncomfortable, and yet there are thousands of Commodores on the road which suggests not too many other people have an issue with its seat. Hopefully you find a resolution, without too much expense.
  10. Thanks heaps for the info. To replace the Super Sports with comparable tyres was going to be too pricey - about $450 a tyre. The GT Radials aren't as good but it was a good deal - about $250 a tyre, reduced from about $330 a tyre. So, a mid-point tyre, which, in reality is all I really need - I am about 80% around town driving; rock-star tyres just aren't needed.
  11. If I have figured the technology properly, here's my baby after getting her new tyres fitted today - 235 / 40 GT Radial Champiro HPX. Too early to tell how they perform. I think they will be a little bit of a step down from the Michelin Pilot Super Sports the previous owner had put on. Not sure if I'll notice the extra width (235 vs. 225 that was on previously), but time will tell.....http://
  12. These photos are great for showing my point about the more aggressive fog light design in the front bumper - the FL has removed the 'L' shaped detailing in the bumper immediately above the fog lights to create a more 'pointed' edge to the bumper, while also changing the angle of the fog lights (to be more aggressively downward sloping) and pushing out the black plastic detailing on the edge of the fog lights - all in all, it's a much better look. It doesn't show in these photos, but I'd be interested in seeing how the 'blank' gap in the centre of the new grille would look carbon wrapped.........
  13. Okay, so dip me in tar and cover me in feathers, but the FL has really grown on me. At first I didn't like it, at all. But I now think it's actually a better look than my MkIII vRS - the FL is more edgy in design / more modern and I especially like the more aggressive fog light assembly in the front bumper. By comparison, the design of the MkIII looks a little dated. No doubt there will be howls of protest - the FL has certainly been polarising. But that's what a forum is all about - different strokes for different folks.
  14. I took off the rubber surround from the current phone holder (I've got a Mk III vRS), lined the inside with some stick-on felt and it now fits my iPhone 6 perfectly. It's too small for an iPhone 6 if the rubber surround is left on (as many will already know) and, of course, once the rubber surround is removed, the phone will rattle without the felt lining. Cost me pretty much nothing.
  15. Check out (my) post on page 10 (June 2016) of the Aftermarket Wheels thread - my red MkIII with gunmetal grey rims. They aren't Team Dynamics wheels, but it might give you an idea.
  16. Phew!! You had me worried for a second there..........
  17. Of course you've made the right decision! You couldn't seriously be questioning your decision based on the off chance you might one day kerb a wheel....???? Park far enough away from kerbs and the problem never eventuates. And in the meantime, enjoy your awesome vRS 230 - you won't be disappointed!!
  18. I don't have a DSG7, I have a DSG6 in my 2014 vRS, but I have been trying for some time to get to the bottom of a very 'jerky' downshift issue when in D - 3rd to 2nd is especially harsh; it's slmost like you've jammed on the brakes extra hard. It's been to the dealer three times, with the gear box sender unit replaced last time. The latest from the dealer, when they were looking at the issue again this week, is that Skoda have advised that a software update is available and they are going to install it in a couple of weeks. So, as I say, not related to any DSG7 software update, but it seems there is also one available for the DSG6, and if anyone else has been experiencing the harsh downshift like me, it might be worth asking your dealer about the upgrade. Cheers,
  19. Have you checked out the 'Aftermarket Wheels' thread? Lots of info re; wheels, sizes etc on that thread. I run 18x8 ET 42 Niche Targa rims, without spacers - front wheels sit pretty much perfectly flush with the edge of the guard, while the rear wheels sit about 2mm inside the line of the guard. (There's a photo of my set up on the Aftermarket Wheels thread.) Cheers.
  20. For me, my Octy MkIII VRS ticks all the boxes - power to make you smile (a lot!!), boot space like a Tardis, cool looks without being a 'everyone has one' car, heaps of room in the back for passengers, didn't cost a fortune and super comfortable seats; by far, the most comfortable seats of any car I've had. I love my VRS and can seriously see myself in another one in the future. I look at people driving low-spec Beemers or Audis and I can't figure it - they are way more expensive, ridiculously common (every man and his dog seems to drive a Beemer or an Audi these days)and most of them would struggle to out-perform my VRS - to me driving the VRS is a no-brainer.
  21. No, they are Niche Targa 18x8 +42 in matte grey. Cheers.
  22. Here's my baby - a 2014 RS with Niche Targa wheels (18x8, +42). First time I've owned a Skoda and I'm loving her .
  23. Attempt no.4 at posting my photo.......
  24. Hmm, have tried that and no luck. I must be doing something wrong - will keep trying and see if I can figure it.
