Literally just a crack to break the seal. you will hear a whoosh of air. It was on bloody tight though. Then just nip it up again. -
Faint petrol smell in engine bay

I had this problem with my car recently. The sensor nut was tight so I loosened it off and let a burst of air escape and then re tightened it and all has been well since. No more petrol smells. -
Getting older has it's perks...

There seems to be quite a difference between what people have paid for their Goodyear Asymmetric 3 tyres. I paid £352 for all four fitted in January this year. Wheels are 225/40/18

I did post a with my earlier biker comment because I didn't want to offend. We are in agreement about most things though. I think the deletion of the wide angle section of the door mirror is down to Skoda's continued cost cutting exercise. After driving the wife's VW they are very handy in the car park and I agree losing them on the Octavia was/is a bad idea.

How on earth can me agreeing with your original post by also stating that "I always look over my shoulder before over taking" be argumentative and boastful about how good I am? I'm certainly no better than the next driver or rider. Just plain Mr average. Maybe it's because you have issues with bikers? Before you ask, no , I'm not one of those riders that has no regard for other road users. This statement makes it all perfectly clear...

Please read the post again. There is no mention of any argument?

Don't be too hard on yourself... us bikers make the better drivers anyway

I always look over my shoulder before over taking. Being a biker, this is how I was taught to ride (called a life saver move) and now it's the natural thing to do on, or in any vehicle

Just had a major service on my 4 and a half year old Vrs. This included a change of plugs. Mileage was 29800... £265 all in...

Octavia vrs 245 DSG mpg and 0-60?
VRjest replied to Aston100's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
Just for comparison the six speed manual vRS does 86 mph at 3K in top -
I use my motorcycle for my acceleration fix. 0-100 mph in 6.1 seconds is more than fast enough for me...

Try the Avon ZV7's You'll save yourself £30 for a pair over the Goodyears F1's although I am a fan of the F1's since fitting them.

High Pressure Fuel Pump VRS 2013-
VRjest replied to VRjest's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
Comprehensive... meaning the service book has two stamps in it along with addition printed paperwork with a description of work completed. Not to be confused with an online service record with which most owners don't have the right to access nowadays. Data protection... blah blah... Its been almost three weeks since I've opened the bonnet and noticed the cover broken. I feel the garage will just fob me off and deny any responsibility. My word against theirs... -
High Pressure Fuel Pump VRS 2013-
VRjest replied to VRjest's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
I bought the car second hand with 13000 on the clock from a Skoda dealer and the car was immaculate. The previous owner has looked after it well and the servicing history was comprehensive. The air con had also been serviced and I have since found out that the system was on its lowest setting and I now have it running on the 'strong' setting. Its nice and cold now. The car came with a one year Skoda warranty. I have not renewed because they wanted £750 for another year. Regarding the MOT' I always give the car a once over checking the fluids etc before it goes in. The engine cover was secure and in one piece. -

The car went in just for an MOT, no servicing was required or asked for as it's not due until February 2018 -

High Pressure Fuel Pump VRS 2013-
VRjest replied to VRjest's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
So after taking the car to a friends trusted mechanic yesterday for inspection, he suspects foul play. The sensor that screws into the top of the fuel pump had been tampered with causing the leak. That also explains why the engine cover had previously been removed (damaged), which this mechanic says should never had been touched for MOT purposes. You just can't trust anyone these days. Anyone know a reliable, trustworthy garage in the Hampshire area I can use in the future? -

And curious that the pump is now leaking...? Needless to say I shall not be using their services again. -

I have not as it would be my word against theirs. Not sure why it would need to come off for an MOT though? -
High Pressure Fuel Pump VRS 2013-
VRjest replied to VRjest's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
Unfortunately my warranty ran out 7 months ago which is typical... It just seems strange that this problem has arisen 2 weeks after my MOT. I can't prove it but my engine cover has been butchered by the mechanic doing the MOT. The cover has had two of its mounting points broken off and the cover itself is almost split in two halves. Not all at impressed as you can imagine but like I said how can I prove anything? -

Has anybody else had any issues with their fuel pump or am I the only unlucky one? :( -
Anyone had their VRS petrol fuel pump (HPFP) replaced? Mine has just started leaking and either needs replacing or new seals fitted if possible. How much is a replacement if anyone has had one done on here? Regards Jase
