Amundsen MIB2 - 6.5" vs 8" screen - differences?
feenster replied to feenster's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
Thanks, that would be good. I find the problem worst when using Waze on Android Auto, via my Galaxy S10. Waze seems to fade / fog out the roads further away in the distance, but the foreground street names etc look blurry. Does anyone else have a similar issue? I haven't tried with Google Maps / Spotify etc to see if they are the same, but will do so. -
Amundsen MIB2 - 6.5" vs 8" screen - differences?
feenster replied to feenster's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
Thanks to you both for your reply. I find android auto a bit blurry on the 6.5" screen, but haven't yet tried another phone to see if it's my phone, the screen or just how the thing works.... -
Hi, I have a pre facelift vRS with a MIB2 Amundsen unit and 6.5" screen. I'm debating getting the 8" glass one (5E0919605M) to use with it, noting that the App button won't do anything. Aside from the larger screen and glass finish, are there any other benefits to using the 8" one? Is it a higher resolution for example? Also, there seems to be quite a high number of these screens with single rows of dead pixels. Does anyone have one in that condition? Is it noticeable?

Which other VAG spare wheels fit?

Perfect, thank you. -

Cheers, that makes sense, I'll try and find a part number for it. -
Which other VAG spare wheels fit?
feenster replied to feenster's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
My spare has arrived today, from a Golf MK5 I think. Does anyone know if there is a replacement nut/bolt that raises up to the level of the boot floor? The one that came with the wheel leaves about a 10cm cap under the floor, so the floor collapses. -

Thanks, I'll go for that one or try to find the bits separately to make up the kit. -
Hi, I've just purchased an MY2015 Octavia Estate (Petrol, DSG), which does not have a spare wheel. Reading back through the forums and doing some searching, I can see there a few options to retrofit one. I was wondering if the spare wheel from any other VAG cars should fit - I know the offset etc can be checked, but I was thinking that if I can get one from a Golf / A3 etc, I've got a better chance of finding an OEM space saver / toolkit. For example: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/18-VW-GOLF-MK6-125-70-18-VW-TOURAN-SEAT-LEON-SPACE-SAVER-SPARE-WHEEL-TOOL-KIT/264448594474?hash=item3d925d522a:g:uyQAAOSwSJhdajzZ Should any 18" VAG space saver be OK for the Octavia (and clear my brakes)? If not, does anyone have some part numbers that would be useful to look for to track one down? Matt

Thanks, I'll try and find out costs for CP removal and Pabs work.

Hi, Sorry for my ignorance but would this allow a MiB 1 Bolero system to be upgraded, with the USB, GPS aerial and appropriate coding? Does it have the smartlink enabled too?

Zeffania, do you have the same combination of Herbert Richter holders on a Brodit mount, is that a different clip around the air vent?

Fitting single DIN stereo - official Skoda parts?
feenster replied to feenster's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Well, thanks to Zeffania, I now have a new stereo in my car. The kit he had was a Celsus AFC5234 - the plastic is surprisingly good quality considering the price, and does the job nicely. It was a bit of puzzle to assemble in the right order, and involved snapping a couple of bits of plastic off the plastic surround to make it sit flush. Here's a picture: Uploaded with ImageShack.us There are some slight gaps around the edge of the black plastic trim, but it doesn't look as bad as in the picture. For a £75 saving against the official Skoda parts, I guess I can't grumble anyway ;-) -

Good idea. Will try that way and upgrade in the future if it starts to bug me. -

A bit more fishing around seems to reveal 1Z0 858 069 R 2AU as the correct part number for the silver trim for Climatronic models. Quite an expensive do altogether - £75 all in :-S -

Yes, my car is pre-facelift. Don't suppose you know the part code/price for the pre-facelift fascia? Thanks, that sounds like it might be just the ticket. I'll send you a PM to discuss in more detail. -

Sorry, the correct part codes are: AZO 600 003 which I think has been superseded by AZO 600 002A -

Thanks for the reply. Do you have a choice of what colour the plastic surround is? -
Hi, I'm looking at what's involved in fitting a single DIN head unit to my 2006 Octavia vRS. I gather there is an official Skoda kit (part code AZO 000 003, superseded by AZO 000 002A?) which is about £62 (Edit: part codes are actually AZO 600 003 and AZO 600 002A). Has anyone fitted a single DIN unit to their car? Does the kit contain everything I need to replace the stereo? I know it has the wiring etc, but does it come with the replacement silver fascia to surround my stereo and climate control? Does anyone have a kit they are looking to sell? ;-) Thanks for your advice...

Picture of Octavia Mk2 with non-OEM head unit?

That looks pretty decent. What's it like functionality wise? Any weird glitches? -

By the way, does a firmware update exist for the bolero to fix the battery drain issue? -

Thanks for the replies. I'll do some investigations into the Columbus and zenec units. -

...but by the sound of it, I'd need not only the Bolero/Columbus, plus a CANBUS upgrade, plus a Bluetooth module, plus access to VagCOM. That's likely to mean spending a couple of hundred on top of the cost of the head unit itself I guess? -

Thanks for those. The Zenec units do fit great, but I can't really afford to buy one at the moment, so I'm looking at standard double DIN units. This means I'm going to end up with big chunks of plastic either side of the head unit - just wanted to see what this looks like in real life. -

Typical! As soon as I post, I find a thread with example pictures: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/175771-replace-stream-mp3-with-pioneer-avh-p3200bt/ I'd still like to see some others if anyone has any though. -
Hi, I've just bought an '06 plate Octavia vRS. It has the Stream headunit which I want to replace. I've been having a look at the options and want to know if anyone has any pictures of a non-OEM (or Zenec etc) head unit fitted? Basically, something that requires a fascia adapter so I can see how good/bad they look when using one. Anyone got any pics?
