  1. Falkirk based. My Scout is currently out of action. Should have the money to get the engine replaced next year.... Fingers crossed!! I have owned a Mark 1,2 and now 3 Octavia. Sadly for once I'm not interested in buying a Mark 4 as they don't come with a handbrake or a manual gearbox in the size of engine I want.
  2. So firstly the independent dealership failed to reset the engine back from the service position after the timing belt was changed. Then when I was coming back from a hike with my family a black range rover run me off a single track road with passing place, travelling in the opposite direction. When I served to avoid it the car car mounted the embankment and hit a large stone, which apparently shattered the engine mount on the block. Personally I don't see how as when I checked the vehicle afterwards the engine underbody shield was still instant and there was no apparent leaks from the engine. It was only after a few weeks that the coolant levels significantly dropped. I topped it up but within a week it was almost back to zero again. That's when I removed they underbody shield to check the engine and discovered the serpentine drive belt was rubbing hard against the radiator hose. Took it you a local garage and was advised about the engineer mount point on the chassis has shattered off and the mount point on the block had been ripped out as well.
  3. My 2016 Scout has the exact same issue. The mount point on the block has shattered. Block is essentially useless. Was quoted £2500 for a replacement CRMB engine and £2500 for removal of they old engine and the fitting of the new engine. Managed to save up enough for the block. Need to wait a further year to save for the the cost of fitting.
  4. I live in Falkirk. I have checked out a few local garages who can do engine swaps. I think there's a VAG group independent garage nearby that can do provided I can source the engine successfully. I guess it's all just a matter of cost...
  5. I purchased a 2016 Scout DIESEL (Manual Gearbox) in January this year. By August the engine was pretty much written off thanks to an incorrectly refitted timing belt by the car dealers 3rd party garage. (In dispute process, currently, with Financial Ombudsman) Long story short, the L side engine mounting bolt sheered off, further complicated by the mount point on the block also irreparably broken as well, resulting in a complete replacement engine being required. Having previously taken the Octavia VRS DIESEL Estate (Manual Gearbox) a test drive I learned how fun the VRS engine can be. (Unfortunately, I was unable to gain the finance to purchase it at the time, so had to settle on the Scout instead). The Scout's Engine Code is CRMB. Given that the cost of purchasing a used CRMB engine, removing the old engine and fitting the replacement will cost in the region of £5.5k, I am speculatively researching on fitting a Diesel VRS block instead, provided the mount points match up. Has anyone done this kind of engine swap before? Are there any important points to be aware of when doing such a swap? (Apart from the obvious ECU replacement for the VRS instead) Thank you in advance for any help you can provide
  6. Yes. I am using the original Skoda SD Card. I think when I formatted the card it has deleted the position with the root commands on it and that's why it is not recognised by the car... May have to buy a replacement SD card...
  7. Sadly this has not worked either. Formatted the SD card to on a Windows PC to FAT32. Extracted the files from the Downloads folder to the SD Card. Inserted the SD card back into the card and the message: Please insert a data medium with valid navigation data. Sounds like it's not recognising the SD card. Maybe it's corrupted??
  8. Fantastic, Thank you. I will give this a try when I get back from work today😀😀
  9. Can anyone advise what to do if you have formatted the OG Skoda SD Card? All partitions on the SD drive has now been cleared. Could someone advise how the SD card is partitioned please? I'm hoping to repartition the SD drive correctly then cur and paste the folder MAPS into the correct partition section...
