  1. I've previously had the same symptoms on a mondeo, that was eventually traced to wiring loom crimping fault. Could be something similar here; a loose connection on the canbus.
  2. We have exactly the same spec and my air con gets the cabin cool in a couple of minutes. The output is cold enough that I tend to direct it up in the air and away from my hands. I leave it on auto and have the profile set to high in the vehicle air con settings.
  3. I'd agree with all these points, I have those extras on my Octavia, and the required buttons and sensors aren't on that car, nor is candy white a metallic paint option, it's the solid one. So it is wrongly described. But it is still cheap... Park Assist on a vRS? Has that option ever been fitted? I thought they were all j-turned into a parking space...
  4. Assuming it's 6p a mile excess mileage charge then you'll get charged about £250 for that, nothing to have a cow about hopefully. Have you got a firm idea of what the car is worth today (about 14k?..), that will be handy if you need to "negotiate". Certainly hoping it's all going to be painless for you. Anyway that focus st is going to bonkers good fun when you get!
  5. My (very amateur) guess would be the chain tensioner. You say that you have done 30,000 miles, it has been serviced with appropriate grade of oil, right? I wouldn't expect anything to start knocking until you approach six figures in mileage...
  6. It connects over both Bluetooth and Usb or Wifi. Bluetooth for for the usual handsfree type activity. Wifi or Usb networking for the screen mirroring and control protocol with infotainment system.
  7. I have owned all the previous generations of the mondeo and driven them to about 150k. My opinion is that it lives in the same segment as the Superb as it is bigger, quieter, and handles better than the current Octavia. I would say it's road holding was it's best point. As my budget grew and they got electrically more complicated then the reliability fell off a cliff and the comically cheap components were extortionately expensive to replace. I finally had enough when it took my, reliable, mechanic over a month to trace down and fix a loose wiring loom fault. Comparing it to the Octavia L&K, I now own, the cabin is larger in every dimension in the mondeo and it is quieter to drive on the motorway. As mentioned the mondeo also handles better. On every other aspect of ownership the Octavia knocks it out of the park, the build quality is light years better. The ergonomic design is brilliant and my next purchase will almost certainly be the Superb (for the bigger cabin). In a nutshell don't buy a Mondeo, ultimately she will break your heart.
  8. Did you take the WLAN option with the car? If not you'll only have wired car play available.
  9. You might have better luck using an adapter on the end of the old cable. I know this has worked, with the iPhone 5/6, for other MDI cable owners.
  10. Although there's no going back from this, if you favour the heroic approach, this is certainly the most straight forward, I'll give it a go next year ;-)
  11. Yo Paul! Might be worth name-checking that software you use, to save future upgraders having to get familiar with the terminal
  12. Just a word about doing this upgrade with a Mac onto the sd-card from an Amundsen stereo. You have to copy the new maps to the skoda supplied sd-card, this is because the Amundsen has been paired to the physical identity of that card, so as a lay user we can't get around that pairing. Just download the zip from skoda, it is massive (about 15GB) and failed several times for me so it had to be un-paused each time, but eventually it does download. Once you have it flip the write tab on the sd-card and put it in your Mac. Now that it can write to it, your Mac will be unhelpfully adding hidden folders that it uses to drive the file manager and the trash can, you can deal with these at the end of the copying process. So now the sd-card will appear as a drive (called NO NAME) on the right hand side of your desktop. Open it up and copy the only folder in it maps to, say, your Documents folder. Do this so you can get back to what you had originally if anything goes wrong. Move the maps folder on the sd-card into the Trash Can. Now the card appears to be empty. Open up the downloaded zip file (using Finder) that will probably be in your Downloads folder. It will will contain a maps folder and signature key file. Copy just the maps folder from here onto the sd-card. After it has been transferred (takes ages) you can tidy the sd-card up. Being a Mac there isn't a straight forward way of doing this. The quickest way is with the Terminal, which you can open from Spotlight and run the following. cd /Volumes/NO\ NAME/ rm -Rf .fseventsd/ ._.Trashes .Trashes/ .Spotlight-V100/ ._maps exit Then whip the sd-card out without ejecting it and return the write protect tab to read only. Test out the new maps on your Amundsen, if everything is ok you can remove the download and empty the Trash Can on you Mac. I wouldn't recommend anyone reformats there sd-card, especially on a Mac, to perform this map upgrade, it is an unnecassary risk. Also if you don't know what Finder or Spotlight is I wouldn't attempt this without a pictorial guide.
  13. All the other features shown at WWDC are there so I'm confident that the in dash directions are in iOS, it's probably the Amundsen that needs an update, so that will likely be a wait of: ages to never.
