  1. DTUK Pedalbox transformed the feel of my 150 tdi. Nuff said.
  2. Having read about it, I was aware that the Bilt Hamber product did not produce as much foam. However, it produced a surprising amount and that may well have been my fault having the setting on the dispenser too high being as it was the first time I had used it. I will try it again when I next wash the car and turn down the setting. Perhaps it was simply a matter of too much foam and not enough water. Time will tell. Thank you both for your help and for the alternative options provided.
  3. I am looking to speed up the cleaning of the black honey monster and have bought a new pressure washer for this and other tasks. What have you all found to be the best Snowfoam? Has anyone tried the Karcher foam? Currently, I am using Bilt Hamber which has proved to be a little disappointing but this may be due to the experience/Incompetence of the operator. Your usual kind help and advice will be appreciated.
  4. There is a way @X man Switch off the engine. Turn the ignition back on. Put your foot on the brake pedal. Press the auto handbrake button down and the parking brake will release. I am also fortunate enough to have a garage for my car. I do this every time I leave it in order to avoid very problem about which other forum members complain.
  5. Went to the dealer who fitted a new battery for £4. I am guessing but I suspect the car is programmed to recommend the battery be replaced approximately every two years, regardless of whether it is worn out or not. Now the battery has been replaced the other two have miraculously recovered and there is no indication that another new battery is needed. Regardless, the problem is addressed and many thanks to those on the forum who offered advice.
  6. Sorry, in my previous note I meant battery replacement, not key replacement. However, the plot thickens. The car handbook advises the tests for the key battery is the red light on the fob which should operate if the battery is okay and it suggests if the fob does not operate beyond a distance of 3 metres the battery is worn. These tests were passed with flying colour. The light on the fob flashes as it should and I tested operation from a distance of at least 30 metres. It was fine. I wonder if this is a reminder which comes up every two years regardless of the battery condition. I will make enquiries. Further information to follow.
  7. @adamjackdrew, it does not have Kessy. I appreciate batteries wear with time but tell that to the Bora, or indeed my Mazda 6 which I owned for 10 years. That did not need a key replacement either. I will contact my dealer today but would really like them to offer a cogent explanation for this. I will feed back anything I receive which is useful.
  8. Thank you for the advice @Gizmobut would this apply to three batteries in three different keys, two of which have been little used or not used at all? My wife has a VW Bora which is 16 years old. We have owned it for 14 of those years and have never replaced either of the key batteries. I know technology has moved on and is more complex but.....????
  9. I have a two year old Sel diesel, 23,000 miles. Went to start the car yesterday and an instruction appeared on the dash telling me to replace the key battery. Only problem was that the same instruction appeared for all three keys so I am sure this must be incorrect. One of the keys I have never used so it hardly seems like wear and tear. There appear to be no other symptoms and the car seems to run fine, at the moment. Has anyone had a similar problem and found the solution? Thank you.
  10. I specifically asked for my PDI sheet when I became aware of the suspension block problem.
  11. @Sagalout I have my PDI checklist dated 8/9/2016. It is on there and ticked off as completed. Well it was - on one side only.
  12. Jars: I wrote to Skoda UK to highlight the dangers that this problem can cause as suggested by another member on the forum and also to suggest a system of working to prevent recurrences which they could pass down to their dealers as a procedure to be followed during PDI. Seems they were not impressed.
  13. Xman: The o/s light was simply too high. I drive a lot down country lanes in the dark. It was easy to tell. As for the transport blocks I wrote to the Skoda MD suggesting a possible solution. No response. That was two years ago. The problem remains. ‘ Nuff said,
  14. Mine the same. Three, on one side only! And this after I had asked the salesperson to check they had been removed having previously read items on the forum about the issue. When I first saw the car prior to delivery it had four dents in the boot lid, subsequently repaired. Did not take long to realise the headlights were hopelessly misaligned. Utterly hopeless PDI. Compensation obtained and not my dealer any more.
  15. I tend to use comfort mode when driving alone quite a bit, as the ride is so soft and relaxing. Yes, it bounces but I just go with it. Still possible to corner briskly but not like when using sport mode. Most of my driving is town and country lanes. Sport is good for the latter. Accurate steering yes, but no real willingness to attack a bend. Makes my early MX 5 all the more enjoyable. When ‘er indoors is outdoors and in the car it goes into normal mode as she does not like the bouncing. Towing the caravan is either normal or sport, depending upon the weight I am carrying.
  16. Mine was a much smoother drive after three suspension blocks had been removed and the bangs and crashes disappeared. i agree about the sloppy body control. I have DCC and the sport setting plus the accurate steering helps but it is no sports car. I run my tyres 34 psi all round and check with a decent gauge regularly regardless of the tyre pressure monitor. I have Pirelli P7s. Poor grip, noisy and too hard. Looking forward to changing them! Michelin or Goodyear. Buy a pedal box from DTUK. Makes a huge difference to the way the car performs in terms of throttle response. I have grown to like mine but it was no instant love affair. Give it a bit of time.
  17. @lobsta100: These blocks are inserted into the springs while the car is in transit to the dealer. It has been known, many times more than once, for a dealer to forget to remove them. The consequences are a dreadful ride, potentially dangerous handling and possible damage to the suspension. It is a simple job to remove them and it is a pdi job. Dealers forget. Mine did. One side only. Paid the price in compensation and another dealer servicing my car.
  18. I have one similar but two years old nearly and manual box. Ensure the dealer removes the suspension blocks from your front springs. Read the manuals. It will take some time and not all of it is understandable on first look but having read them you will have a better idea of what your new toy is all about that much quicker. Have fun.
  19. No. You have yet to have the best from your car.
  20. Coming on two years ownership now and never noticed it. I have the windows and sunroof open quite frequently in the summer in preference to air conditioning.
  21. I have read the words of many people extolling the virtues of the DTUK Pedalbox but had taken the view that it was a pleasant but in truth an unnecessary asset, concluding that it was only required to press the accelerator pedal harder to achieve the desired result. Finally, I tired of embedding my foot in a swamp every time I wanted to my car to react with any enthusiasm and bought one, a DTUK+. Initial thoughts only thus far but I was unaware you could buy a new car so cheaply, such is the total transformation in the car and in the ease and enjoyment of driving it. More fool me for procrastinating for so long. I am still trying to decide on the best setting, such is the saturation of choice. Which are you good people of wisdom and kindness using?
  22. I bought an Sel when alcantara was still an option. I had the opportunity of trying out leather and alcantara back to back (so to speak) on a warm summer day. Alcantara was light and day better than leather. In brief, no burning in summer, no freezing in winter. Far less slippery to sit on, therefore far more comfortable when driving. We have owned a VW Bora, now 16 years old, with a leather/alcantara option. The alcantara is as good as new. IMHO Skoda have made a big mistake deleting the alcantara option, although there is always the Sportline, at extra expense of course. Should I ever buy another Skoda it would be a Sportline with current specifications prevailing.
