  1. I find it generally too enthusiastic. My cuts in even before the wheels stop rolling, making junctions very dangerous in my opinion. First thing I do when starting the car is turn the Stop/Start off.
  2. I must admit I was a little cynical about tyres tuned for this corner of the globe, but I'll give them a shot!
  3. Finally ended up with some Pirelli Dragoon Sports See here. So far I'd say they are a bit quieter than the delivery Bridgestone Potenzas. Time will tell if it turned out to be a good decision. At AUD200 per tyre they were competitively priced. Going to try running them at a slightly higher pressure to see if it helps longevity.
  4. Was standard here in Oz. Car definitely handles more tidily in Sports mode, turns in better and holds a tighter line. Don't think I've ever actually tried comfort mode. Will give it a go on the way home from work today.
  5. Thanks for the feed back. Always find this a difficult decision - never sure really how much of a difference it makes. I think the Sport 4s may have it. I'll report back in due course.
  6. Sorry folks. I know this topic is done to death but it changes frequently too....... So new tyres required. Opinions valued. Currently have the delivery Bridgestone S001s. Have been offered some Michelin Pilot Sport 4s at a fair price. For me the important criteria as good wear and reduced road noise, rather then on the edge handling. I'm in South Australia where poor quality road surfaces and the heat rub tyres away. Many thanks
  7. My AAC is reporting an error and turning off at present. Service next week. When I rang to report it I was asked if I'd had the tracking adjusted by a tyre shop as changing the tracking will make the AAC malfunction. I haven't. Made me wonder about the problems having new tyres will cause.
  8. Would appear on balance no one has any idea why both keys would be needed. So they'll get one set and then need to present a cogent reason for needing the second. Sadly I'm too cynical, these days, about why someone would want anything 'personal' without a clear and sensible reason.
  9. Thank you gentlemen. Seemed a bit strange to me too. I shall be 'forgetting' the second key. They can update it when I get there if it is required.
  10. Have just booked my car in for its first service and I have been asked to leave both sets of keys in case they need re-programming if there is a software update. Is that normal? Thanks
  11. I have the same car/ engine in SA and haven't noticed this issue on 40C+ days. Oil runs a few degrees warmer at 107C but nothing else obvious.
  12. Thanks I've had a look and it actually seems rather easy to move. This may be the issue - I'll get it checked at the upcoming service.
  13. Thanks. I'm due a service soon so I'll get it checked then.
  14. I keep getting this message after 10-30 mins driving. I didn't get it when the car was new 6 months ago. I live in South Australia so snow blockage is not an issue! Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
  15. Just completed 10,000 km in my MK III vRS TSI and not needed to add any oil at all. My engine oil temp runs at about 104C. I'm also waiting to see what happens in South Australia when the temperature hits 40+C in the summer
  16. I too only found this feature after asking on this forum. I had read the manual multiple times and it is far from clear. Like those above I travel in D most of the time choosing S to overtake or pull away briskly. The great bonus is selecting Sport this way doesn't turn up the irritating fake engine noise generator.
  17. Thanks. The trailing edge is unattached. I will try fixing it.
  18. I seem to be getting a whistling nose from the tip of the passenger windscreen wiper (right hand drive car), happens as soon as I hit 100 kph. If I wipe, it goes away............ for a while. Has anyone else had this and is there a permanent solution? Cheers
  19. I have a 2 month old VRS at it has a squeaky sound coming from the front dashboard/ A pillar passenger side. It is only there when travelling at 100kph (yes the speed limit) and isn't there on cold mornings. When the weather is warm it reappears. Any ideas gratefully received.
  20. 2 months ago got my first DSG because manuals in Oz is always a challenge (I'm and English ex-pat). After 30 years of manuals taking some time to get used to it but am really starting to enjoy the swift easy gear changes. When in automatic mode I miss the engine breaking but that's about it. Personally I think the only way is to drive a DSG and try all the modes.
  21. Have just bought a fully speced petrol VRS in Adelaide. At first I thought it expensive but a quick compare with the UK price (where I bought my last VRS in 2010 for GBP 17000 and 0% and it's really good value). 1% finance here at the moment. A very happy man.
  22. The dealer went through much at night and I reached saturation point. He may have mentioned it but I can't remember. My previous car was 10 years old and the technology has moved on somewhat, there was much to learn! Have always driven manuals before. I read the manual several times and honestly I really do not think it is clear what is does ie toggling between normal and sport (without the annoying pretend engine noise) but maybe it's me. As to the drive home last night works exactly as Item described. Thanks very much.
  23. Thanks, so no need to push the button, just a firm pull? Too anxious in case I broke it!
  24. Hello all, Have a new VRS with the DSG gearbox. Can someone please explain to me the significance of the inverted triangle below the D/S mark beside the gear lever. The manual describes it as 'sprung' position and it looks as if the lever should move backwards but I can't make it move. Clearly I'm having a dense moment and would appreciate an explanation. Cheers in advance.
