  1. Alex Lawrie happens to be the skoda dealer in Liverpool before it was renamed Johnson . Probably a demo?
  2. Just a quick note to advise that my 2017 sl exec has a different switch combination. Its a matter of holding the parking brake down while depressing the brake pedal. Just confirmed it out of interest When I press the handbrake it tells me to depress foot petal. Not tried your method

  4. I once had a garage wanting to replace my front disc and pads on a company car as they were allegedly worn. What they did not know was that they were replaced 3 months before. Considering they never take the wheels off now during a service you have to ask them to confirm by measurement not sight. Also when I used to get my tyres changed they always would say you pads and discs are worn and should be changed. Talk about up selling.
  5. I took my car in to my Skoda garage for its second service Friday and was befuddled with their attitude. Firstly my second service was already paid for and I also had an appointment so it could be serviced while I waited. Well I waited an hour before they started it. Secondly, I had already asked them to check the run out on the discs as I was getting a pulse through the petal. What surprised me as that:- 1 They confirmed that they do not take the wheels off during a service, 2 That they now video the underneath (something I have had for years with my VW cars), but this was new to them. 3 During the video they claimed that my disc pads were ALL 35% worn. Something I know to be untrue. 4 During the video the technician measured the dept of treads and the readings I saw on the video were not the same as that on the form. 5 But most galling of all was that the technician said the pulsing was caused by the offside rear disc being rusty and slightly grooved. When I asked about changing them under warranty they said discs were not covered by warranty. I then showed them the Skoda web T&Cs which advises consumables or NOT covered (and lists them - including disc pads) but does NOT mention discs. Therefore my default they are covered. I asked that they remove the wheels and use a dial gauge to measure the run out and they said they would if I paid them to take the wheels off. So a safety critical item like discs is unimportant. To cut a long story short I have now disassociated my app with them and am going south of here to a decent Skoda dealer. It should be noted that the service manager and technician were new to the dealer from a year ago and it therefore says a lot for the quality of Skoda servicing and attitudes of the personnel. I think I got more chance of winning the lottery. Happy times ahead I hope
  6. I had them fitted at factory and one cold day the washers were frozen despite having suitable antifreeze in :( I will have to ask the wife to help me check if they are warm or not. I do not seem to be fast enough to pull lever, run, feel the water.
  7. I had my screen replaced by autoglass in Coalville Leicestershire, excellent service , I waited with the car while they replaced screen and re calibrated all and they issued the certificate to confirm all as per manufacturers specification. I had to wait 2 weeks before I was able to get to appointment but no mention of "illegal to drive". My crack started bottom left and crept to ward the camera. Stopped 1" short. They were extremely helpful and I got a chance to see all the stocks of glass. Its enormous.
  8. When you walk away from the car with the kessy key it continues to run but flags up that no key in range. In regards to locking you must put your hand against the handle to lock. It will not lock automatically. (2 seconds to do this) For it to autolock you would have to sense inside any people objects etc and know you are not returning for it to be able to comprehend anything
  9. That clip is really good. Great amount of good advice for us all. (including comments on fog lamps etc) The main point is Think when you drive as conditions change! However :- He did not clear the bonnet which will flow into the windscreen, at speed, when released from bonnet, temporarily blocking view He did not clear the scuttle vent, required for air con to work properly, He did not pass the cyclist by a full lane as stated but was sufficient, He did not look in his mirrors every 6 seconds, as I was taught, He passed parked cars on left while other cars were parked to his right and a car was going the opposite way therefore all 4 cars were in line across the road. He should have slowed to allow the other car through before proceeding However he was in control at all times, aware of all around and in front, drove with consideration, was aware of changing conditions All in an an excellent and realistic drive showing you cannot adhere to theory ALL the time. Probably reflective of most drivers PS one thing fundamentally wrong! he was driving a BMW
  10. Only in france can they screw you after 6pm. role on 37.5 hour week http://www.autoroutes.fr/en/breakdown-service.htm
  11. Seeing the above posts I thought I would just check mine again, in case i was going senile, but am right. Where you type the town etc just input a post code and it searches and locates on map.
  12. I ordered my bumper protector on a Monday (with other stuff) and received on the Thursday. Still have not fitted it though. I think I will wait until I scratched the paint. I have used them a couple of times, great service.
  13. Took me ages looking for post code menu before penny dropped.
  14. I just type the the post code in the blank area when choosing new destination. it sorts itself out.
  15. You should not be missing R2 on either FM or Dab nationally. Even in Warwickshire. I have traveled all over the country and never miss a beat of radio. My wife's Polo had a similar problem and started switch back and forth FM/Dab. Put into the dealer and fount it was the aerial control unit was earthing. Suggest get dealer to check.
  16. I once had a brand new Sportsback Lancer and was not happy with handling so took it for wheel checking - all wheels were way out. And this from the factory. Once sorted I kept the car for 7 years. Excellent
  17. My wire run across left top of windscreen down pillar to floor ( and power to fuse box behind glovebox) along floor to rear left wheel then up pillar to top of rear screen Naturally all wires are hidden
  18. I have had my car since September and no issues; however when i got it the software for the sat nav etc was not up to date. Naturally I updated it and have not had one issue with the Columbus system. Then about a month ago at a caravan site I went out in the morning and started the car and wondered why it was so quiet. Then I realised all my DAB station had disappeared. (FM etc still there) Reconfigured them using the wizard and everything was ok until this week whereupon leaving for work I discovered they had gone overnight. Can I have them back please. Once is bad enough, twice is irritating. :( It should be noted that i have had a Thinkware Dashcam F770 installed since new and without any radio issues whatsoever. I mention that due to other users having issues with Dab signal, but mine is and has been solid. Can anyone shed any light on this?
  19. DH, I was of the same opinion as you when I ordered my car but was forced to have Kessy when I chose a number of options. I can honestly say it is the best choice I never made I love it and as Felis says you have to be adjacent the car for it to work. However that said, if you can make it someone can break it. Even keys.
  20. Here is the link to the K&n Filter site installation instructions https://www.knfilters.com/instructions/VF2047_inst.pdf superb 3 cabin filter VF2047_inst.pdf PS this is a washable reusable filter
  21. I have had this on the M5 in 50 MPH traffic flow. For no reason it popped up "impaired". I was in outside lane so think the barriers could have been picked up. Anyway, mentioned it to dealer and they checked car but there was record of it as a fault . :( When it happened again, I switched ACC off, five minutes later, down the same motoraway. switched it back on again and all ok. Not had any issues since. That was three months ago.
  22. HI Dave, I used Sandicliffe Skoda in Leicester but there is no reason why your local dealer could not confirm with them beforehand saving you a longer journey.
  23. Its definitely worth trying the extended movement to see if a seat resets itself but in the end its always worth putting the car into the dealer under warranty to have the software overwritten. Only takes a few minutes and so could be done while you wait. My dealer loaned me a car saying it would take up to 3 days as they expected to take out the seat etc - despite me mentioning what I had read here on this site :) When I got home they asked me to come back as they had fixed it. :) They updated the software. It was a first for them and they are writing it into their PDI inspection.
  24. Then its most likely to be a sensing issue that determines when the rear kicks in.
  25. You may want to get this booked into your dealer for a progam update. I had same problem - dealer could not understand it, thought i was mad, then they could not do it - all it needs is a connection to mainframe to overwrite the program. job done. Also be aware it only memorizes setting to the master key (the silver one). So I have 3 keys and I never use the silver one so its pretty useless really.
