  1. Many thanks! I've put the raw data online - I have done something funny with the mbar in the formula. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BxGeSs6ygIrdYlVITW1HXzFGVm8/view Does the raw data give anything away?
  2. Ah ok, I may have used the wrong units there. I'll double check. Why would the specified be doing that? I don't understand why it's requesting drops so suddenly? It's not right is it?
  3. It's great to see so many cyclist on a car forum! Things are looking good, we just need more of us. I've been a cyclist since about 12 years old - now approaching 40. Pretty much always been a roadie, but race TT, crits....love MTB'ing and downhilling as well. Constantly getting told off for the amount of bikes I have....I always argue the "n+1=perfect amount of bikes" rule (where n = current number of bikes), but I don't think she likes that one. Anyway, a pic of my little summer toy ( a few upgrades since this photo, but it's close enough): I won't bore you all with photo's of the others, but I have a specialized transition TT bike, Giant defy winter bike, de rosa summer / race bike, boardman mtb.....
  4. A very good and generous friend of mine has VCDS, so logged my car accelerating in 3rd from a rolling start to check pressure and see if we can get a HP estimate. Out of the logs we produced some charts. I've no doubt my DV has a gaping hole in it!!! Think I'll get back those missing 20HP when it's fixed? Looks like at around 3000rpm, something just lets go and the pressure plummets! No idea why I'm sharing.....just thought they were interesting graphs! Maybe someone else will. Any comments from those more experienced with these kinds of things? (car is booked in for a full service and DV replacement)
  5. Mine is a bit more "off the shelf" than some of the cars here. All standard equipment. Wheels could do with a good rub down and respray - they look ok here, but close up they're starting to flake a bit. Only had it a couple of months, but so far, very impressed.
  6. All sorted! Put some silicone where the metal and rubber meet, so well hidden.
  7. So i did the tapping and it didn't work. What has worked is stuffing the seal around the rear quarter with insulation tape. A good temporary fix, but I have some black silicone to do it properly. So, am I aiming to seal the rubber to the frame (on the diagram labelled RUBBER), or just where the metal lip looks like it should be tight against the seal (labelled METAL). I suspect it's a seal of silicone along the metal??
  8. That's the one. A friend has the vagcom cable / software so we're off out logging boost etc to see if it's all operating properly. If so, I'll leave alone. "don't fix what isn't broken" and all that.
  9. Thanks all. I did the tapping with a hammer and it made no difference, so going to try the silicone solution. Where exactly do I need to put this? Is it the flappy bit that is visible and rests on the inside of the door frame, or, the part where it joins the metal frame? Does that make sense? I'll try and get photo's later.
  10. And am I right in thinking it's the seal between the main window and the quarter window?
  11. Hi all, So having just bought a 2006 2.0vrs, I'm looking at things I need to sort / check / change. I've got a list so far from researching various sites and forums. Is this all overkill, or a good idea to go through each, and is there a good order they should be done in: Change fuel pump cam follower Change the diverter valve Change high pressure fuel pump Change the PCV front valve I'm sure I read about some gauze thing stopping oil getting to the engine? But I can't remember what / where that was? Anything else that would be advisable to check / change? Thanks
  12. Sorry to dig this old, old, old thread up..... .....but having just bought a 2nd hand 2006 Octavia, on the recent drives I've done, the symptoms above are exactly what I have. Sounds like a window is open slightly on the driver side rear window. So from previous posts it can be one of two things: Seal on the quarter window is gone - solution is to put a bead of silicone in there (any pointers on exactly where? Window seating is out slightly - solution is to wind window down, and tap the seating towards the rear quarter Is there anything else I can do? Could I go to Skoda and ask for them to do it under a known issue with the car?
  13. Hi all, Picked up my first skoda over the weekend. It's a 2006 skoda octavia Vrs, the 2.0 petrol version. Absolutely love it. I've driven a Honda accord for the last few years and am impressed with the octavia. It has a few niggles that I'll be looking to resolve using this forum, so any pointers will be greatly appreciated. (currently trying to deal with what the kids are calling "windy doors"). I have a friend with the fully licensed vagcom, but there doesn't seem to be many tweaks worth doing? (I have no rain sensor or auto lights)
