  1. I have a 2013 Skoda Octavia Estate Diesel, Elegance Model. The internal touch sensitive controls (not the buttons down the sides) for the Radio, Sat Nav and media etc occasionally do not work. I.e. the screen freezes until I press and hold the on/off button which seems to clear things by re-booting the whole system . Sometimes when I start the car the unit emits a series of high pitched bleeps after which the problem seems to sort itself out but usually I have to hit "re-boot" as described above. My car mechanic has suggested taking it to a Skoda dealer and asking them to update the operating system but I thought I would ask here what to do first. Anyone got any quick fixes?
  2. I am advised that there was a problem affecting the Dual Mass flywheel on older Skoda's/ Volkswagens that caused them to fail with alarming regularity resulting in a costly gearbox replacement and engine rebuild, but that this problem has been largely fixed on the newer models. I am thinking of buying a 2013 (new shape) Skoda Octavia with 92,000 miles on the clock, 6 speed manual 2.0l diesel (elegance spec). One owner form new, (Volkswagen finance rep), so I am guessing most of those miles are motorway driving. Went to see it yesterday and it sounds sound as a bell, no excessive vibration through the clutch pedal when idling or driving. Any comments?
