  1. Seems that WK must be a professional car body work spray painter then?
  2. Actually the object of the original post is to warn Octavia owners of possible corrosion problems in the future. Not to solicit hindsight posts. (Of course the alternative to dealing with this problem myself would have been to return the vehicle to a Skoda dealer and have the tail gate resprayed under warranty, most likely the result being a different paint shade from the rest of the vehicle) .
  3. I agree 100% with your advice regarding only pushing the brake pedal half way down during bleeding. Brake master cylinders on some Vauxhall/Opel models suffer damaged seals during bleeding if the brake pedal is pushed all the way to the floor. (Displaying exactly the same symptoms as in this case).
  4. Another warning! I noticed the paint on the tail gate cracking at the outer edges of my tail gate handle. So I removed the colour matched handle and discovered that the paint had worn through at the contact points of each end of the handle. The handle has a rubber inset gasket which is meant to prevent this, but the plastic handle is poorly moulded and contacts with the paint work at each end. Had to pair away a little plastic from the handle at each end and touch up the tail gate paint before refitting the handle. Looks OK now as most of the touched up paint is below the handle fitting. (better than two horrible rust blisters in a few years time)!
  5. Hi Ken, Re Celox Performance As per your advice I sent them a recorded delivery letter asking for a refund within 28 days or legal action would be taken. They seem to have chosen to ignore this letter. Legal action for an amount under
  6. Hi Ken, thanks for the advice, but Celox Performance is not listed in Companies House, but I do already have a UK address for them. Communication with them is slow, my first correspondence with them was 6th April and most the recent was 3rd July to which I have not yet had a reply. Perhaps it's time to end my polite requests for a refund and take some firm action?
  7. Celox have refused to refund me for the tuning chip I returned under warranty on the grounds that the connector plug is broken (they claim). I think this is probably their standard reply to anyone returning a tuning chip for a warranty claim. Those of you familiar with the VW type connectors will know that you must press a thumb tab to disconnect them. Celox have assembled their module boxes with the connector tight against the box with no space to press the thumb tab, so once it's fitted to the vehicle it's very difficult to remove without breaking the locking tab. I managed to remove mine by inserting a small electrical screw driver through the square opening on the connector housing and easing up the locking tab. In order to obtain a refund I have asked them to consider deducting the cost of a new connector from my refund (VW part number 1JO 973 702)
  8. Hi, I just want to let you know that Celox have agreed to accept the tuning chip back for a refund, it's taken almost two months and many emails to get this far. Seems like they try to ignore your emails and hope you'll give up complaining then forget about it. My advice to any other members unfortunate enough to have purchased a tuning chip from them and pursuing a complaint is to keep and print out all emails sent and received. As I eventually had to post paper copies of all correspondence to them to get this far. thanks to all members who replied to my posting.
  9. Thankyou fordfan, your answer solved my problem. When I think about the reason for the recirculation function not being available on the screen position it seemed logical. It would be almost impossible to demist a damp windscreen with this function engaged.
  10. Hi, my octavia 1.9tdi air flow recirculation button is not working, it won't stay in when pressed. Is there an easy way to fix this apart from a new one? Any advice would be welcome. cheers
  11. You mean galvanized like Felicia tail gates!!!
  12. Thanks - that Subaru forum pretty much sums up the Celox tuning chip!
  13. Hi, Due to the conflicting information on the ebay listing and their advice via email they have decided to reconsider their earlier decision regarding no warranty = no refund. I shall wait and see what their answer is and then let you know.
  14. Been told by tuning chip company NO warranty therefor NO refund!!!
