  1. A sad sight to see of a 10-plate black facelift model being scrapped at Silverlake Auto's in Hampshire. Just thought this may be of interest for someone. http://www.silverlake.co.uk/breakers/details/2010/skoda/octavia/vrs/petrol/hatchback/black/-/bc16515/#
  2. Hi peeps - not been on here for some time now... I have a 2.0 tfsi petrol 55 plate and was wondering who or where is a good deal to get a re-map done in Hampshire please? Have had numerous problems with mine over last 18 months and hoping to pick it up from IGS in Eastleigh later today with the EGR valve sorted and the common radiator fan 'on' all the time (new fan set fitted) If car is all up and running correctly as i've been promised then i'd like to think about a re-map for the car and start enjoying it once again :( Any help would be much appreciated - regards, John. (Eastleigh)
  3. needs to save and buy a White FL Vrs.....

  4. Just a tip for anyone in a mk.2 experiencing towing lights failure........... Am on my 2nd Occy Vrs mk.2 and both have been fitted with a towbar. Both cars were wired by a different towbar fitter, so i need not believe it was human error when wiring............. but.............. What i have experienced (on occassions) is that whilst towing, with electrics plugged in, sometimes a fuse will blow and there are 'NO' towing electrics whatsoever. Checked inline fuse at point of install - nothing. Checked interior fusebox and engine compartment fusebox too - again, nothing!! And here'sthe answer (how or why, i have no idea) but if you realise that your stereo has also ceased powering up, then you need to remove the stereo and replace the mini 10 amp (red) fuse in the back of the stereo. Thought this experience of mine, may help others who tow regularly and it would be appreciated if anyone reading this, can shed some light on the reason/s why?? Cheers all. John.
  5. Anyone shed any more light and or photographs on this topic via Auto Express please.......... http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/autoexpressnews/251806/skoda_sizzlers_at_the_double.html
  6. Morning............ please would it be possible to meet up with a member in my area for a few changes/checks to my Occy II Vrs, petrol ?? Would be very grateful to any memebers willing to add unlock/lock bleep and would like the lights-on when unlocking feature on my recently brought car. Will certainly sort out with some expenses if required. Regards, John.
  7. Please could anyone in the Chichester, W.Sussex area let me know if they can assist with some diagnostics and small changes i would like to my recent purchase. Seat belt chime, lights-on when opening doors and key bleep required if possible please. Large drink obviously for anyone who can be of assistance - Thankyou, John.
  8. After 3 years of owning the PD Vrs and sending it back to Skoda at the end of the 3-year options agreement, i was gut-wrenchingly sick each and every time i saw another Vrs out on the road and knowing just what it was i was missing - Sooooooo........ having driven near-on 3x 4x4's to destruction since December, i decided i needed to get back to the fun in driving and start looking tirelessly for another mk.11 Occy, but at a realistic price i could afford, with part-ex and hopefully hardly any outlay. This meant an early Occy II Vrs was needed and probably one with quite high mileage. Not wanting to go for Blue again, i set my sights on either Silver or Black. Finally found what i was looking for last friday and drove to a dealer in Leeds on Sunday to do the deal - is me a happy bunny, or what!!! My vehicle was a Mitsubishi Shogun 3.2 Di-d 7 seater Classic (base model) on an 02 plate 90k 10 months mot, 6 months tax The Mk.II Vrs i exchanged it for, on a 'STRAIGHT' swap, was: Octavia II 2.0 Tfsi, Black magic pearl, full electric windows, jumbo box, Climate, !8'' Zenith's, 55plate, 130k, 2 weeks tax, 7 months mot, 4x NEW Toyo proxes4 tyres and full service history relating from 2 business users, hence the high motorway mileage, but hey, that's not an issue when she's in real good condition and drives superb - :p WELL HAPPY ONCE AGAIN...... Just got new numer plates today for her and have entered the Briskoda web address on the bottom of the plates (just had to get rid of those tacky garage ad ones, lol) Now i finally have a Vrs owned outright, think i need to pay Colin some cash for a memership and get me some Brisky stickers! Car is now with me in the West Sussex area and looking forward to getting to some meets in the future and perhaps even the odd tweek or two - Anyone near to Chichester able to offer some assistance with some diagnostics on mine, then pls message me. Really want the seatbelt ding gone and the auto lights-on when unlocking again if i can?? Hope someone can help? - cheres, JOHN. How do i upload piccies from my pc now, as opposed to a weblink ??
  9. Towing with the pd170 Vrs for 60k miles now and am very impressed with results. Averaging 30-35mpg dependant on weight. Ease of power for overtaking and happy all round. One point of note is to keep an eye on tyre wear on the rears - :( Here's a few pics......
  10. Nice one Lee - gonna have to keep an eye out for you, so as to get me first thumbs-up from ya.... LOL Don't think you'll be too hard to spot either:cool: Bright white-lightning on an 09..... Nice. Enjoy.....
  11. If you have the mp3 jack plug fitted (usually in jumbo box) make sure you do not leave a connector lead plugged in! Sometimes you'll get some static feedback through this. I do with mine - just 1 thought. HTH
  12. Just out of interest, i always justify my speed with cruise control set at the speed shown on my Tomtom Would anyone else agree that this is good practice? As far as i'm concerned, the GPS signal shows your true and accurate speed - ANYONE? John.
  13. * from Yahoo -News * A teenager has successfully defended himself against a speeding ticket by convincing the court that his GPS was more accurate than a police radar gun. Shaun Malone, 18, was issued a speeding ticket after a police radar gun tracked him as going 62 mph in a 45 mph zone. However, he appealed the ticket because his GPS, which was installed by his parents to monitor his driving, showed he was driving within the speed limit. The court originally ruled against the ticket, as a court expert said GPS was not accurate enough to give a precise reading. But after examining the particular system, installed by Rocky Mountain Tracking, he decided it would be suitable. "This case has caught the attention of the nation, and it will set a precedent on how police departments use speed traps in the face of an increased GPS presence," says Brad Borst, president of Rocky Mountain Tracking, and who is also a former Police Officer. "The accuracy and reliability of GPS has helped bring this important issue into the limelight." The device measures real-time speed every 30 seconds and can also be configured to send out an email message to the owners if the car reaches speeds of 70 mph or over.
