  1. @DennisMenaced: You may have had a lucky escape! https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/fiat/panda/105415/fiat-panda-gets-shocking-zero-star-ncap-crash-test-rating
  2. I've got an Eco-Worthy 10W one and as rum4mo says, it doesn't do much unless the sun is shining directly on it. That means hardly ever in the winter, which is when it is most needed.
  3. Mine (2016 1.2TSi) doesn't do many miles most weeks and I get the low battery warning often every winter. It needs a run of 50+ miles before the stop/start cuts in, and silly things like having the fan showing more than 3 bars will stop it working. My wife's Polo with similar engine does even less miles, but I have only seen the low battery warning once when it hadn't been out for 10 days. The stop/start always works OK after a few miles. I had everything checked last April - the battery was OK, the settings are as per book, and a very recent check shows there are no outstanding campaigns. I suspect that the Fabia settings err on the ultra careful side. It always starts, so I'm not too bothered. (Although I do have a jump start pack just in case!)
  4. We had similar troubles with my wife's polo. The traffic reception was cured when the dealer fitted an aerial booster. Kenwood will supply these to dealers on an ad-hoc basis; there is no other way of getting one. Because of the map update problem I created a stir with VW Customer Services and the dealer. Eventually they found an SD Card via Kenwood online. I can't find it now, but I think it's this update: https://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=9254 Because of the installation in the Polo the glovebox had to be removed to access the SD Card slot! This was done free of charge by the dealer "under warranty". That map update is dated 2017. I can't track down a more recent one. Because of that I would recommend you get a different unit. Good luck!
  5. My car, which is used mainly for short journeys, had that notice coming up all last winter. It always started OK. After driving 20 miles to the dealer the battery checked out OK and no fault was found with the sensors. Drove the 20 miles home and the warning reappeared 2 days later! If I do a long journey the warning won't come up for the best part of a week. It's doing it again this winter. I've bought a jump starter just in case, but it's starting OK so far. @RickW: Can you remember the campaign details?
  6. My wife's polo had a similar problem which turned out to be condensation leakage from the AC drain pipe.
  7. @AlecEdworthy Fourth option. Put in in Park, put the handbrake on, release foot brake. The engine will remain stopped with the brake lights out. When the traffic lights change, press foot brake, put it in Drive, release handbrake and you are back to square one.
  8. None in Peterborough, Cambridge or Bedford, but apparently Progress Skoda in Northampton have a Silver Monte 110 DSG with fancy wheels. I've got 2 phone numbers: 01604 268 164 and 01694 795 444. Good luck!
  9. malc, I'm not sure exactly what you want. "im looking for a monte or sel dsg estate or manual " " preferrably a monte but happy with sel spec but must be DSG" Do you want an estate or hatchback? Can the monte be a manual? Any colour? I'll give my dealer a buzz when I'm sure.
  10. ...and the dodgy dealer didn't tell you! Please let us know if you discover anything else like that.
  11. My wife was interested to see this. She wanted petrol, automatic, almond green, sat nav, rear sensors and aircon. Simple enough you'd think - but impossible according to the Citroen configurator.
  12. Click on the link (underlined green on my screen). If that fails try here: https://www.whatcar.com/citroen/c3/hatchback/review/ I
  13. It's pushed back between the seat backs - where the armrest hinges. It doesn't interfere with the handbrake at all. Try it and see.
  14. I'm 5'8 and because of the handbrake issue my armrest stays up all the time. Try one before spending money. (My wife's Polo doesn't have an armrest. She stows her vast handbag between the front seats and doesn't like the fact she can't do it in my Fabia!)
  15. It will also stay stopped if you put the selector into Park before taking your foot off the pedal. (I agree it should work in Neutral too.)
  16. Kenwood will supply an aerial booster which will fix the traffic problem. They only supply it to dealers - you can't order it yourself. My wife's Polo has never had any problems with satellite reception, so the dealer will need to have a look at that. The official Garmin/Kenwood sites say that map updates for the GVN60 have ceased, but I believe that some time spent googling might come up with an alternative solution. Another post on here somewhere has mentioned a self-install with the unit velcroed to the underside of the glovebox. Personally, I think that the dealer should source the map, charge you for the SD card, then perform the update for you with no labour charge. Good luck with that!
  17. I've had a Ring inflator for several years too. Easy to use and works well except that when it's very cold the pressure gauge doesn't indicate. I then put it on a radiator or in the airing cupboard for 5 minutes after which all is OK. It's worth noting that it pumps up to 0.05 bar above the set pressure before cutting out, probably to cater for an expected slight pressure loss when disconnecting.
  18. @ Mk3EcoDrive: I think the date on the article I found is more recent than the mootorauthority article or the rehashed photos. I'm not sure what to believe - we will have to wait and see. (I'd rather have the Fabia-based one .)
  19. According to Auto Express the new SUV will be based on the Rapid Spaceback, not the Fabia. http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/skoda/91160/skoda-to-launch-new-small-crossover-in-2019
  20. Yes, those are they. Does it make a difference?
  21. It's a standard 2016 SEL 1.2TSI so I guess normal lights. The roads round here are so muddy right now you would need to stop very often. Do you suggest I fit headlight washers instead?
  22. Yesterday evening I had to drive along a busy country road in the fens. There was a lot of mud on the road after the recent snow/thaw and there was a continuous stream of traffic coming the other way. At times it was almost impossible to see the verge or the centre line against the glare, not helped by the SUV driving too close behind. I'm thinking of fitting bulbs that will give a brighter dipped beam but don't wish to make things difficult for other drivers. Suggestions please.
