  1. having moved back to the UK and needing new tyres in the near future I an thinking of Michelin Cross Climate fot my Octavia estate 1.6 tdi, any views, opinions and advice welcome
  2. you can take it to any skoda main dealer, speak to skoda UK
  3. My 63 plate overheated without any warning at all, had the car recovered and pump and cambelt replaced. It is a known fault and the garage and Skoda UK made an offer of £400 ( £200 each) to the cost after much debte. I had bought the car in Septemer 2016 with a 12 month warranty and as we live in France the UK dealer was aware that the car would be here. They tried to say that the warranty didnt cover it but I persisted and eventually they did make a payment. I would say to anyone, speak with Skoda UK and dont let it go, it is a faut and should be acknowledged
  4. just paid 740 euros for pump and cambelt including recovery, despite having 12 months warranty they say it isnt covered here in France, I have emailed skoda uk and will update you all
  5. the price did include recovery and cam belt so around £650 total
  6. just got the bill, 750 euros, UK dealer said we werent covered as we live in France despite them knowing at the outset, more to follow
  7. Well, it happened to me today,1.6 tdi, 2weeks before we go away with the caravan????????? after 10 miles it hit 130???? stopped for 10 mins, moved off and again it hit 130 fter a few minutes, let it cool and this time it stayed at 90. Still under warranty but as we live some way from the dealer am hoping that we can use a local dealer, we really thought we had bought a rouble free car
  8. Octavia Elegance Black 1.6tdi Estate, 08/13 reg and imported to France
  9. Well, Having flown into East Mids from France and arranged transport to Hayselden, another 1 hour drive, the car was there, the dent had not been done and neither had the wheel scuff, to be fair they allowed me an amount to get these done, after driving home, 800 miles, it was noticed that despite repeated confirmation from the salesperson the towbar electrics were 7 pin NOT 13 pin despite the salesperson checking and confirming by email, again they allowed me the amount that was required to rewire a new socket.Total experience was dissappointing, the sales comments that "well it isnt a new car" as it was 3 years old, but by far the worst was the salesperson denying that we had had a conversation about the satnav, despite standing in front of the manager with me on the other end of the phone !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! by contrast I went to the dealer in Leamington Spa and the difference was brilliant, helpfull and genuine, I know where I will get my next car from and it won't be Doncaster.
  10. Sadly don't have xenons, To Petrol Dave, brilliant response and thank you so much, seems time consuming but with 2 hands should be ok,
  11. Hi, how difficult is it to remove the bumper, the clio was a nightmwre but the vivaro was easy, the mx5 bumper was difficult as the bolts were not easy to access
  12. I have a 2013 1.6 diesel Mk3 octavia estate and have to change the headlights to comply with French law and roads, is this a difficult job on this car and any advice wecome. I have changed them on a vivaro, clio and mx5 so have a "litte knowledge"
  13. I have had my 2013 elegance 1.6 diesel a few weeks and covered 1000+ miles, the road noise is more a drone and is a little bit like ear-popping noise???? if that makes sense, am getting used to it and hopefully it will become less annoying. Compared to the over run on the DPF (or whatever it is) it is a lot less annoying, such a shame that a really nice car is spoilt by silly little niggles.
  14. Yet again, many thanks for the responses
  15. OK, so I just drove for approx. 15 miles at around 45-55 mph and when I stopped the DPF carried on, after a couple of minutes I started the car revved it and switched it off and the over run stopped, should I be concerned???? this is now twice in a week. I do not understand electronics etc and am seriously wondering if I have bought something beyond my capabilities, Any reassurance or helpul hints would be welcome
