  1. thanks a lot guys! I have overdischarged the battery only once. As it is still on warranty, I will get the replacement one fitted and re-test. I will also re-fit the fuse to make sure it does not feed anything else. I will get back once all completed
  2. hi, I didn't check the voltage in the battery yet as I don't have a meter but I have driven the car many times since. It is actually the same battery, I found out it was the front seats heating which was draining the battery down and once I remove that fuse, no more drainage. The battery is also fairly new as I bought it only about 6 months back, thanks
  3. Hello All, I am hoping you can help. After my battery died, I have now lost central locking (both remotely and also with key inserted), cannot open the boot at all, cannot open/close passengers windows from the driver's door and also the alarm is not working. I tried many different things, from steps written in the manual to using two keys, waiting random number of seconds with key turned left and right . I also tried disconnecting the battery and leaving for about 40 minutes but did not help. Do you have any suggestions please? Many thanks in advance.
  4. Hi silver1011, I will check with the garage what the fault code is and will ask to replace fuel filter. Thanks!
  5. Hi langers2k, As far as I am concerned, it was genuine oil as I did major service at the local Skoda garage. I have also only made about 28k miles since so not sure what caused this and also why oil turned black as reported by my garage. Another thing is that when this happened first time the car was in second gear. When I switched to overdrive, the car drove OK and then after I parked for a short while, it started revving an jerking in both, auto and overdrive.
  6. Thank you mantiss. Did you have similar issues by chance? Would you recommend changing fuel filter as well?
  7. Hello All and Happy New Year, I hope you will be able to help me. My beloved Octavia started having issues whilst driving - the engine was revving and the car was jerking, as if someone was pressing the clutch and then immediately de-clutched. This is 07 Octavia 1.9 diesel with DSG gearbox and I never had any issues with it before. I took the car to my local garage who said diagnostics was showing that gearbox filter needs replacing (I have done major Skoda service in Aug 2016 with gbox oil replacement) and they also found that the gbox oil was dark. They replaced the gbox oil and filter but this is still happening according to mechanic who test-drove it. The mechanic also suggested replacing the fuel filter (alternative is that this will be very, very expensive repair of the gbox). Would you recommend to replace the fuel filter as well? Did any of you had similar issues? Any help and suggestions are very welcome. I will also mention car has 147k mileage and has mostly been serviced with Skoda. Thanks
  8. Thank you, Martin. Could you advise how expensive was to replace those 2 mounts please? Cheers
  9. Thank you, Phil. I am hoping this is normal then Will see what Skoda tells me on the 30 August. Cheers
  10. Thank you guys. The car has 115 000 miles. The engine oil & filter has been changed last year, not sure if/when the DSG oil has been changed. I have booked the full service + DSG oil replacement with Skoda for end of August. I am not sure if I should call it vibration, but I can 'feel' when it is changing from 3-2 and 2-1 gear, cannot feel it with other gears.
  11. Hello everyone, I am new here, just bought my first Octavia and fell in love instantly This is my first automatic car so thought to ask you for your help - the dsg is a little bit noisy (gets louder but not a crunching noise) and a slight vibration can be felt when the car shifts down from 3 to 2 and 2-1 gear on D. It does not happen on other gears or when shifting up. It is 6 speed box. Could you advise if this is normal or may require software update? Or is this a sign that something is wrong? Thank you very much in advance, Mike
  12. I have just bought my first Skoda - Octavia and called Skoda Crawley to ask for the service. Spoke to Chris who was unhelpful and told me he has asked his colleague to call me, he did sound like he did not want to help... His female colleague from Service team (can't remember the name) left me a voicemail but she did sound so tired, bored and unwellcoming, I decided not even go there and I am going to cancel the service I booked. I have spoken to the Skoda in Medway where my car has always been serviced and they sounded great and spend 30 minutes answering all my questions about the car history and what needs done when. I am therefore going to Medway even though it will be longer journey than to Copthorne.
