  1. I know this might be too late (sorry) but try these people https://essgoo.com/collections/car-audio-video/products/essgoo-android-ar7002-car-radio-multimedia-player-support-navigation-autoradio-2din-stereo-video-mp5-rds-wifi-for-volkswagen fitted into my Roomster scout 08 plate very very easily, only problems i had were:- 1. Power not going off after removal of key (easy fix just disconnect the wires) and insert the canbus box supplied with Head Unit 2. Google maps not coming on straight away (insert phone via usb lead) again supplied with unit apart from that it works a treat (so far and its been fitted 6 mths now)
  2. Tech1e and AGFalco I totally agree with stripping rear brakes if they are Rear drums (as these have brake shoes not pads) thats why i said in my comment "ok for what its worth try this, (only if you have rear discs) !" I hate to be snobbish but purchasing a vehicle with rear drums is rather a backward step in the 21st Century. lol The amount of times ive had cars with the drum springs snagging up and scoring the drums, also the linings coming off/contaminated with leaky rear cylinders, yes i really am that old lol
  3. Yes standing on the brakes does help, but being an old mini owner i dint want to mention that, just in case you break the master cylinder seals doing that process lol .
  4. ok for what its worth try this, (only if you have rear discs) firstly apply handbrake , and apply moderate pressure to the foot brake, then release the handbrake. With your foot still on the pedal raise and lower the handbrake (as if you putting it on but keep your thumb on the end of the handbrake so it doesnt actually apply). what your attempting to do i believe is free up **** from the handbrake mechanism and allow the rear piston to move out to compensate for pad wear . Do this for at least ten times take your foot off the pedal and see if adjustment of handbrake has been restored. I swear thats how my Roomster handbrake adjusts itself up. As sometimes after heavy rain and driving long distances 400- 500 miles my hand brake does slacken. I just sit in the vehicle for about 10 mins and hey presto it all sets back to about 5 clicks. (someones going to say i got it all wrong but hey it works for me! lol
  5. Ok sussed it well done Bobspark you were right two wires in the rubber boot were faulty. One was broken and the other had become unsheathed, remedy was fairly easy unclip the boot top end by squeezing (like normal plug) and a gentle aid with screwdriver and i was left with the boot being detached, then a little trick i learnt (save tearing the boot open) peel away the white plastic clip (its like a square) from the boot, it then enables you to turn back the concertina type boot back on itself to enable you to get near the wires. Here comes the fiddly bit because of the Tailgate piston being in the way i couldn't crimp on new connecting leads, so i decided to bare the faulty wires back and solder in place two new "joining" wires. Slide a rubber sleeve over them to protect them, unroll the boot, place the boot over the white plastic retaining ring, push back in place. Hey presto fixed yippeee.
  6. Cheers bobspark will give that a go when it stops effing raining. I was also wondering was it worth taking off the inner rear panel of hatch to see if there is a connector there that mifght have come loose?
  7. Cheers NZ100 forgot to mention that was the first thing i tried lol
  8. Ok so checking my number plate lights, i notice they arent working. So time to investigate, off with the covers and lo and behold both bulbs are a silvery colour (indicating blown) Consulting the fuse box Fuse 17 is for parking light and license plate light so 1 check fuse == ok 2 remove fuse parking light and license plate should be off? ummm nope parking light left still works! but weirldy no license plate light? 3 Check power on license plate connectors with fuse in and switched on both with ignition on and off ( with the little bong going) lol ummm nothing So lets just try fuse 18 just in case umm same results as line above lol weirdest thing of all and maybe im doing things wrong with my multimeter across the fuse (the two bare metal pieces) i get 0.08 on my meter set at Ohms which says to me the fuse is ok ? Any ideas would be grateful T.I.A kim
  9. Why do people insist on assuming the instrumentation on their vehicles will give them a true M.P.G. Figure Take to Garage Forecourt Please fill it to the brim, (as in one click) reset odometer. Drive till light comes on. (Fuel light) lol Take to Garage Forecourt Read miles or kilometres you have covered on the odometer (take a note) Refill vehicle (one click) preferably at same garage you filled it up at in first place. Get a receipt for fuel Then do some maths usually and this is an example 452 miles on odometer/ 42 litres (put in tank = 10.76 = miles per litre. Then multiply 10.76 by about 4.54 cos thats how many ltrs are in a gallon and hey presto 48.85 Miles per Gallon! not 60 + as the instruments tell you.
  10. Aha not all batteries are the same me thinks mine are these, hence the reason i contacted Varta two sets of batteries. And they reckon its a service item to replace the alarm every 5 years???
  11. If you know where to get the batteries from please let me know! I contacted Varta who make the batteries and they say (both Automotive and Commercial) " we do not supply or make these Batteries ummm
  12. Who makes you the VCDS police ? im guessing by your response you are one of the "underground forum illegal VCDS spotters" good on you but as i said if you cant help (or wont in your case) dont respond
  13. Hoorah a response from the forum! thats what skoda502016 wanted in the first place. Was it so hard. Just because he didnt have the right lead, (its up to him if he wants to wreck his car using the wrong lead). People come here for information and help. I know i do lol. If you don't want to help don't reply. Oh and if someone could be bothered to create a spreadsheet with the adaptions gathered in the forum people would'nt be asking silly questions on how to do VCDS adaptions (could save a lot of heartache).
  14. I dont have a lead but if i were to get one i would leave Ross -Tech alone, as i cant see why i would want to pay import duty on software and a home made cable, that will be outdated in 5 minutes!
  15. aha the lets not help anyone out because i can afford the proper version person, I love those people! This is supposed to be a helpful forum.
