  1. Right so I finally got round to changing the pickup today and the results were both good and bad, The engine is absolutely mint, nice and quiet and running very well just like it was before, Unfortunately the same can't be said for the turbo lol it's noisy and cutting in and out all the time, So I am still quite happy because I was going to sell the car anyway so I suppose the fact that the engine is fine and it only needs a turbo is a big plus, I tried to list it for sale on here but it won't let me for some reason (because I'm new I think) Thanks to everyone for all your help
  2. ok mate spot on, is there any chance you can pm me the pictures you have got as well like a before and after lol
  3. Can you send me some pictures and your postcode so I can see how far away you are please
  4. Thanks mate but I'm not going to bother I think I'm just going to sell it as it is for spares or repairs
  5. Well after a lot of thought and talking to various people I am probably just going to cut my losses with the 4x4 It has just really ****** me off in such a short space of time lol I'm not sure what to do with it yet, Lots of people are saying break it because the 4x4 setup can be used on other cars (don't know if that's true or not) but to be honest I can't be bothered with the hassle of breaking it and being left with half a car, so it will probably be sold for spares or repairs Thanks for all the help and advice
  6. Yeah I will have my camera on standby mate lol
  7. hahaha yeah I bet,I'm sure I will sort it mate thanks I just wanted to make sure there wasn't loads of extra stuff needed removing before I could get it off
  8. thanks for the info mate, I'm not to keen on leaving bolts out lol
  9. After a bit of research today and the advice from everyone here The first thing I'm going to try is Replacing the Pickup in the sump (including o ring) Clean the sump out New oil and filter And see how it goes But I just have a couple of questions With it being the 4x4 is it difficult to get the sump off? (Anything else have to be removed to be able to do this?) I have heard some of the sump bolts are a bit hard to get into, is there any hints or tools that can help with this? And finally is there anything else I should or shouldn't be doing at the same time to give me the best chance of saving my engine? Sorry for all the silly questions
  10. If I need it mate I will get it one way or another lol once I get it checked out I will be in touch if I need it mate
  11. Well the luck I have had lately nothing would surprise me mate lol
  12. Thanks mate, How much are you wanting for the engine (incase I need it)
  13. no mate it wasn't thrashed at all, no smoke out the back or nothing, I will order the bits you recommend tomorrow and see how it goes
  14. Yes it's the 18t mate, Unfortunately I was stuck on a bloody motorway when it all happened so I couldn't act as quickly as I would of liked to, Obviously I will keep my fingers crossed for the best but start looking for an engine lol
  15. What do you think are the chances of the engine having survived mate?
  16. I have only had my 51 Reg 4x4 turbo for a few week after my golf was written off, I went out this morning and was driving along when the oil light started flashing (red) and the engine started tapping badly, (turbo sounded louder than normal) I know for a fact the oil level was fine because I actually checked it this morning before I started the car, I stopped the car as soon as I could and it is now parked up until I get time to look at it, Is it likely that the engine is knackered now that it started knocking like that or are they normally fine once the issues are fixed? Any help and advice will be greatly appreciated thanks
  17. If I'm honest mate it's doing my head in, This is my first skoda and my first turbo car so half this stuff means very little to me lol, But I will do some searching and get it sorted in the end
  18. I will try that tomorrow, thank you for your help
  19. Help me please I'm bloody sick I have just bought my first skoda about a week ago and had nothing but hassle with it, Let's just say the previous Keeper was working with a very very limited budget lol Right when I first got it about a week ago it had a flat spot and a splutter at about 2500-3000 rpm and since then it has just got worse and worse, Now it is really annoying I took it to a local auto electrics place who put it on the computer and it came back as (running lean) and he said most likely needs a new MAF sensor, I'm also not overly sure about the condition of the turbo, Sorry about the extent of the post but I'm sick to death lol
