  1. And I thought I was doing OK with ~48mpg. I almost wish I'd gone with plan A now (manual 150).. impressive stuff.
  2. Thanks! From what I can figure out they might actually be quoting for the factory option retro-fitted, since I can't find a retractable from anyone else.. Westfalia make one (it's almost certainly what Skoda fit) but they say they do not supply it to the aftermarket, only OE. Might be a trek to Swansea.. although t'other half's mother lives in Cardiff so there's an excuse to visit S. Wales at least..
  3. If you have the flappy paddles on the steering wheel you can also pull either paddle and the gearbox will re-engage whatever gear it was in before switching to coasting. I do ~80 miles each way on my commute which is all M1, M25 and hit an average of about 50mpg in Eco; I'll see what Normal manages next week as I don't think Eco makes a massive difference when you can't utilise the coasting much (in my case I'm either in nose to tail traffic or sitting with cruise on at the speed limit).
  4. Be interested if you can find out which - Brink don't list any options for the Superb 3 on their website and Bosal only list detachable, same as Westfalia.. failing that, the name of the fitter who quoted you for the retractable?
  5. Hill hold must be fantastic in a manual - it's great in the DSG. That's interesting to know - my car came with lane assist, ACC, BSD etc but no TSR..
  6. For a good example of that, see about half way through this video: https://youtu.be/eaHKjjsocm0?t=327 Those kids are so engrossed in their phone, lunch, lipstick, lord knows what that they don't even notice bends in the road, let alone other road users that might have been there - one drives straight off the side and looks so non-plussed it's like she must do that every day! Scary..
  7. No experience but I am interested in the retractable option - which make bar is that? Westfalia don't list a retractable bar for the Superb III..
  8. Yep that's usually when it catches me - or on our "managed motorways" when the hard shoulder is a live lane and the (always busier as nobody likes using the shoulder) main carriageway slows down and I end up with an angry Audi (why is it always an Audi?) running up my rear.. Sounds like the US when I drove there! Especially in OKC I just assumed it was a no-rules free for all..
  9. I've noticed that too - the other car that appears (in the lane to the right, for the UK, or left of the car for the continent I'm guessing) is different to the image that is displayed for the vehicle directly in front of you.. not figured out what it is yet or indeed when the car decides to show it; sometimes it'll pop up and my car will then 'hold station' relative to the car in the next lane over (preventing undertaking) and sometimes it won't..
  10. Yeah they checked most of the boxes on that one! It was replaced in the showroom (by the time I collected mine) with an SE L Business in Grey .. ironically I went in originally looking at SE L's and came out with the L&K
  11. The car was the showroom car - I couldn't afford to wait for a build-to-order car so went for a good deal on the pre-built unregistered car.. unfortunately means I have to get an aftermarket towbar instead of the spiffy swing-down Skoda affair (which I am sure is probably just a Westfalia bar that is only supplied to Skoda and nobody else)
  12. Picked up my SIII Estate L&K 190 TDI DSG last week: Black Magic Pearlescent 19" Phoenix wheels Black interior Rear-view parking camera Retractable parcel shelf Variable boot floor Front passenger seat adjustment from rear MFSW w/ DSG paddles Rear backrest release from boot Panoramic sunroof Spare wheel SmartGate Just need to get a tow bar added, now.
  13. Thanks guys - I was vaguely hoping that perhaps the Westfalia RX system would be available for the Skoda III (https://www.westfalia-automotive.com/uk/products/towbars/retractable-towbars/) but yep, their own website only lists the detachable or fixed options :( Which is a shame as I was really hoping to keep close to OE functionality. PF Jones list a Bosal bar with rotating electrics (swing away) and a detachable bar for a lot less than I was quoted to fit the Westfalia, which was actually more than the OE option.. just have to decide if I can be bothered to fit a towbar myself One question - it looks like the Westfalia has fixed electrics (always in view), is that an optical illusion, does anyone know, and they're actually 'swing down' electrics?
  14. Hi all, I collect my new Superb estate on Thursday; I would have specced the factory towbar but as this was a 0-miles unreg car sitting in the showroom I didn't get the chance to do that (but at least I get my grubby mitts on the car quickly!). They've pointed me at a local specialist who can fit Westfalia bars, who have had to go off and check availability for the MkIII. While I wait for them to call back ... I see some folks have had detachable bars retro-fitted but Westfalia offer 'swing-away' bars as well, more like the factory option, does anyone know if they offer one for the MkIII? Thanks! Aaron
