  1. Thanks to @Breezy_Pete I took another look at this tonight and found a bent pin on the pillar end. Fat fingers and a nice bit of foul language sorted it and I'm back in business 😁
  2. I regret to announce that after having the door electrics working perfectly on reassembly, with the door open, none of it works with the door closed 😩 Any ideas?
  3. Hi All.. What is that lad I've ringed there in red and where does he go? Its a curved white plastic clip of some sort with a bulb in it. I've the airbag light (crash sensor 01221 (G179)) error fixed up but this fella has me flummoxed on the reassembly of the drivers door! Thanks in advance..
  4. Number plate lights intermittently reporting a fault now after a few days. Possibly the receiving end of the fuse holder is tarnished/scorched from the meted fuse, making a high resistance contact with the new fuse, or one of the two bulbs are on the way out or a bad connection along the way. Nice job for a wet evening!
  5. Had the same problem... all lights down the right hand side of the car were gone.. intermittently at first... The intermittent part is key.. When it first happened i checked the fuses for continuity and discounted a dodgy fuse.. Was googling all about BCM/CECM pinouts and layouts to see if i could diagnose/repair when it all lights on RHS died suddenly.. It was the fuse (F16, 30A, engine bay fuse board).. melted plastic and metal! What a *fix! *Need to keep an eye on it.. what would cause a 30A fuse to go, a dodgy bulb/connection down the RHS?
  6. Thanks for all the replies.. much appreciated. Whatever about it being "normal" to hiss, it's certainly new to me. If anyone sits into a new car I'd be interested to see what happens with the brake pedal before and after cranking. I wasn't watching where I was going last Friday and ploughed the superb into the side of the boiler enclosure at home..! Nothing brakes related.. Lots of nice paintwork and reshaping of the bumper to follow the new lamp replacement... It's amazing how quickly I forgave myself for it!
  7. Checked hoses thoroughly - no cracks or leaks visible. Bled the system too.. still wooshing. I'm reluctant to accept that it's normal.. given its the breaks! Any further advice out there? Thanks..
  8. Thanks.. I'll try that this evening.. how much is a new master cylinder does anyone know?
  9. Where is this, just the other side of the firewall from the pedal? Thanks..
  10. Yes the brakes are working as normal with the exception of the "woooossshh" from the pedal where it disappears through the carpet. The only mechanical change I can envisage doing damage is some possible effect the winding back of the piston has on the fluid system? As in it pops a seal somewhere? The pedal isn't spongy and returns as normal. Where is the air coming from and what is the problem? !
  11. Hey.. Did a front and rear pads change last night. After front drivers side (first set I changed) I dropped jack and pumped the pedal slowly - straight away it hissed.. LOUDLY! It did not do this before. People have been telling me all day that it's normal... I even sat into a 2011 superb in the car park at work this afternoon and the pedal hissed.. Mine never did this before. It's as a result of the pad change. I'm thinking it's related to the winding back of the piston, possibly disturbing a seal or o-ring or something. Has anyone any ideas? There seems to be a lot of instances of it online.. people argue over whether a bleed will fix (no air should get in or out with a simple pad change, right?), whether the master cylinder has a leak or whether it's just normal. Does anyone know for sure? Thanks guys.. 2010 Superb Mk2 1.9 105Bhp Saloon..
  12. Thank you PetrolDave. Im guessing the 8km/4m is a generic error when it's read by counterfeit cables and/or programs, and that a genuine copy will verify mileage correctly? I hope so anyways.
  13. Thanks for the replies. You are quite right about legitimate software - I have the lend of a hooky laptop while I search for a suitable car. I was on the phone to ross-tech in the states this afternoon about it and they recommended two different products to me. microscan for 249 dollars and hex+can for 349 dollars. I think thats very cheap considering what you get. Either would do the job they said. I'll certainly buy the hex+can if I buy a superb.. but I'd love to figure it out all the same to help make a decision on what, on the surface, looks a great car. Thanks for reading.
  14. Hello everyone I'm in the market for a superb II. I quite fancy one that I drove earlier this week. It's a 1.9 105hp from 2010. I have vcds 12.12 but if won't read the ecu mileage correctly. It returns 8 km / 4 miles. I was always led to believe ALL 1.9 cars can be read by vcds.. not sure why this particular car won't comply. My hunch is it is a late 2010 model and may not have either an edc15 or edc16 ecu, but maybe a edc16+ or edc17 and that either of these variants cannot be read by vcds? Or that it is a Siemens ecu and not bosch and therefore not readable.. Clutching at straw really. Could anyone she'd any light on it for me? I should have done a save when I plugged it in and use the vag number to get ecu model number.. but I didn't! It's a lovely car but I'd really want to be able to verify the mileage before taking it any further. That's the reason I'm limiting my search to 1.9. If vcds can't verify a 1.9 superbs then it opens up 2.0 and more hp. Vroom Vroom! Thanks for reading!
