  1. Ok, after a month or 3 nobody from Skoda has actually written down and published a list of commands available to voice control. This is most unusual. If you want somebody to use something then you need to tell them how. Trial and error (mostly error) with a variety of accents/words is not very helpful. The command list available on the in-car displays are next to useless. Yes, I'm all to aware that my names for my contacts will be ever so slightly idiosyncratic but voice recognition software should have more-or-less come to grips with that. Please, please can somebody in Skoda send a list of possible command words?
  2. The 'Erratic' operation is typically shown by the wipers continuing to wipe at frequent intervals, long after rain has ceased or refusing to start until the level of rain has reached torrential. However, sometimes (not very often) the wipers do exactly as intended and track the rain behaviour with remarkable accuracy. Using the switch A as shown on page 82 in the Octavia handbook reduces the frequency when there are too many wiper sweeps but in the second case the only option is to switch on the wipers to the continuous setting. As an electronic design engineer (retired) this indicates one of 3 faults: a failing sensor; intermittent wiring or connectors; a poorly debugged piece of software. The handbook does not indicate the sensor location, although I believe it to be close to the rearview mirror. As a secondary fault the voice control is completely useless, leading to a belief that the 'infotainment' software may need a complete reinstallation. The vehicle performance on the road has always been faultless. Advice as to how to proceed would be helpful.
  3. I have finally disabled the automatic windscreen wiper operation due to its totally erratic operation. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't work, more often it does random wipes which may or may not have something to do with the external precipitation. How can I 'sort' the rain sensor to give some coherent operation?
  4. I was hoping it might actually be written down in a document. Sort of a list so-to-speak. There are lots of manuals for the car, why not one for the voice control?
  5. Yes, but somewhere there must be a list of words that the system might recognise. I fully understand that it won't know about giraffes (or maybe it does?) But if I use "call" and the system expects "ring" then no wonder if won't work for me. Come on Skoda rep who may read this, where is a listing of vocabulary?
  6. What are the commands for the Octavia voice control system? Model is 2015 reg and voice control of the phone is best described as random. Phone works fine on infotainment touch buttons but asking to call a contact normally (>95%) calls the wrong number. My accent is fairly non-descript standard English.
  7. hi, I phoned the garage (2 sites therefore 2 calls) to try to get them to explain over the phone how to use the jack as supplied with the vehicle. I followed their instructions and I may have bent the sill. Tomorrow I'm going to the garage to get a technician to show me the right way. All I wanted to do was cycle the tyres round the vehicle. The Fabia jack would work fine, except I normally keep it in the Fabia. I'd quite like a jack for the Octavia. NOT very clever Skoda. Up till now it's been brilliant.
  8. My Octavia 2015 version (1.2 TSI) has similar failures with voice control. I have ONCE successfully called the correct number and after around 20 attempts have given up on it. I even managed to call Home with the result that it rang a former colleague in Holland (I haven't lived in Holland for over 30 years). Basically it doesn't work.
  9. Hi, I have a solution, a bit late maybe, for an Octavia 1,2TSi model 2015. Open Setup followed by Opening <> Closing and Windows (in)Convenience OFF. I hope the nitwit at Skoda who conceived this idea realises that while the closing feature is Convenient, the full scale opening bit is a VERY bad idea indeed as renders any form of security more than a little useless. Also; hiding the route to being able to disable/enable the feature is a fault in the owners manual.
