Hi, I use a TAG for the Severn Crossing. Its affixed to the shaded part of the heated screen behind the rear view mirror and I have no problems with the toll barriers on the Severn bridges. I know its not the system you are asking about but I can't imagine it's that different. This page on the Sanef website looks quite helpful.

Got mine from Superskoda. Cheaper than ebay even with postage.

From the Maxidot: Settings -> Assistants -> PDC If I can just steer this thread back on track Thanks to all those that have contributed and confirmed the ‘slow’ start times of the Columbus unit. My reason for asking the question in the first place therefore seems to boil down to the initial boot time of the Columbus unit (e.g. when you get in the car for the first time that day or after it has been turned off for an hour or so). I believe the unit starts booting from the moment you unlock the car. So depending on how long you take between unlocking and engaging reverse I guess the OPS screen may be instantaneous or slow to appear. To those that say they do not experience any delay (in the initial boot up) are you getting into the car immediately after unlocking and do you ever see the “welcome on board” screen? I would be interested to know if some units are booting faster than others and why. Having also researched the various VW related forums across the net it seems that the RNS510 unit (Columbus equivalent) can be quite slow to start and therefore an irritation for those that want to use their parking aids (sensors or camera) during a quick get away.

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately it makes no difference. The Columbus still displays the "Welcome on Board - Skoda - Navigation" screen for 20 seconds before displaying the OPS graphic.

Thanks for the responses so far. Just to clarify, this only happens after the ignition has been off a while. And for the sake of accuracy, it is called the Optical Parking System screen and not park distance control as I stated in my original post. I would expect the OPS screen to display immediately when I select reverse, and not have to wait for 20 seconds or so for the "Welcome on Board" screen to disappear. The audible warning occurs immediately (if something is detected) its just the screen I'm waiting for, to tell me if there is something detected that perhaps I can't see. I have searched through the forum but no one seems to have reported this before (that I could find) so I guess either it doesn't bother other owners and I'm an impatient b*gger, or it doesn't happen. However, Swmbo's Yeti performs in the same manner so I know its not just mine. If that's how it is then we'll just have to learn to live with it. Like I say just a niggle

Mine's not a MY14, but was delivered early June though and does have the green low beam indicator in the middle of the rev counter. Page 25 of the manual refers. Sounds odd that you wouldn't have it...

My only niggle with this fantastic car is that you have to wait for Columbus to finish booting (15-20 seconds) before the park distance control display is shown. Is there anyway the PDC display can override the Columbus splash screen?

Had this happen to me once a couple of years ago but it was only temporary. Can't quite remember how it happened but I think I may have turned the ignition off and then on again too quickly. I remember sitting there stationary with the engine running and a blank LCD display. Turned off and on again and all was OK. Never happened since. Is the LCD still dead?

I took delivery three weeks ago and the pages in my manual were all out of sequence. I've returned it to the dealer for replacement. Or RTFM for short.

Yes, referred to in the owners manual between pages 61 to 68 depending on version. Extracts below: "Folding the seat backrest forwards Put the belt tongue into the opening of the wheel housing on the respective side of the vehicle - safety position. Move Seats into the initial position Secure the guide loop of the seat belt on the side of the outer seats until it is heard to lock. Note The seat belts of the outer seats must always be guided through the guide loops next to the head restraints. Otherwise the seat belts can slip behind the seats." My 2010 Roomie has the loops on the back seats but can't say its ever been necessary to run the seat belt through them.
