  1. Has anyone tried these (and the H4's) from Halfords? Regards Chris
  2. Hi All, I'm a new Fabia 3 owner and have just picked up a 2016 1.2 (110bhp) SE L DSG. Sadly the car doesn't have the auto front windows like my previous Octavia and Karoq. Does any know if I can just replace the door switches, with to 2 position ones, to get this feature or is there more to do? Regards Chris
  3. This is exactly my point. My Octavia remembered which driving mode I last had set. Why can't my Karoq?? Regards Chris
  4. I've just bought a Karoq SE L 2.0TDI DSG and I love it, but have noticed something odd with the driving modes. If I select a driving mode other than 'Normal' it doesn't stay set once I switch off the engine. The next time I start the car, it has always returned to 'Normal' mode. I previously had a mk3 Octavia and I seem to remember that the modes would be remembered each time I restarted the engine. Any ideas how I can stop it changing back all the time?
  5. Hi Gmac, I did mention to the salesman the towbar wasn’t a factory or dealer fitted. He made no comment at all. I was concerned about them wriggling out of warrantee problems because of it, but I never had any problems. My insurance company know about it, but Skoda Finance don’t. Hopefully that won’t be an issue either 🤞🏻 Regards Chris
  6. I bought a used Octavia (2015) in October 2016 on PCP and asked for a tower to be fitted. I didn't like the price so got one fitted locally without any problems, but the dealer made noises about 'Possible Electrical issues. There were none and yesterday my local dealer didn't even mention my tower when assessing it as a trade in for a new Karoq. As low as it's is fitted properly I wouldn't worry about having it done yourself. Have you called any local fitters for advice and quotes?
  7. Can anyone tell me where I can get a suitable charging loop in fit to my car? Mine doesn't have it, but I'd like to fit one.
  8. I would be very interested to know if the Octavia III has a similar arrangement, as I expect that blocking an airbag would be a very bad idea. Great Yeti - I would correct to assume that the curtain airbag is the white thing running along the lower edge of the pillar in the photo?

  10. I picked her up yesterday from Willis Motor Company in West London and the service I received there was excellent. The only fly in the ointment was that they wanted over £700 to fit a towbar and the car hadn't been cleaned very well. I'm having a towbar fitted by a local mobile fitter and I managed to remove the chocolate from the door mirror switch with a tooth brush. However, the car is amazing. She makes my old Focus seem like a slow Dinosaur in comparison.
  11. Thanks for the warm welcome. I have today found my Skoda. It's a 2015 Octavia 2.0TDI DSG CR Elegance in Race Blue Metallic. I can't wait to pick her up, hopefully some time next week
  12. Thanks for the warm welcome. A couple of days ago I decided I would place a deposit on the Octavia I took out for a spin. Unfortunately, I'd left it too long and they sold it. I'm looking around again now. In time I'm sure I'll find the right car. Regards Chris
  13. Hi All, My name's Chris and have just joined the forum as I very plan to be the proud owner of an Octavia 3. Why the Octavia? I've been looking for a replacement for my 10 year old Ford Focus. As I want to upgrade from a folding camper to a caravan I need something with more oomph. I've looked at quite a few SUV type vehicles, which I've quite liked and are great for towing. However, as I won't be towing 24/7 they are probably a bit too focused. A colleague drew my attention to Skoda's fula economy and I was very impressed with the numbers. Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago and on a bored Sunday afternoon we wandered into our local car supermarket and found a 1.6TDI DSG Octavia diesel in blue. It was a CR Elegance model with all the toys, so we took it for a spin. Generally I was impressed with the ride comfort, enormous boot and it was quite spritely for a 1.6. The only down side was the slightly noisy engine and the fact that particular car was a little tatty. Last Saturday I arranged a test drive in a 2.0TDI CR Elegance DSG. What a great car. The engine was so much quieter that the 1.6 and if didn't half go. I nearly bought it there and then, but I haven't got all my ducks lined up. But if I don't buy that one, I will be getting on very like it. Regards Chris. BTW - I talk far to much.
