  1. Hi all, Looking at a '56 plate octavia vrs 2.0 petrol and don't want to spend a fortune tuning it as I've already got a race spec mx-5 and am looking at a fairly sensible motor. I'm thinking Eibach pro springs, Green panel filter and a re-map (was looking at a manifold back decat exhaust, but that was £500 ish). Has anyone tuned their one? What have you done and is it worth doing? Regards Chris
  2. Hi all, I'm looking at getting an Octavia VRS 2.0 Petrol, but have had a mixture on feedback regarding whether to get a pre or post facelift. I've heard that the differences are just cosmetic, e.g. lights, etc? Are there any significant differences that are worth worrying about, as I have found a '56 plate that i'm interested in. I'm also looking at not leaving it standard... thinking Eibach springs, Green panel filter and remap (trying not to spend too much money as already have a race spec mx-5)? Just looking for people that have done this and what the difference is Any feedback would be much appreciated. Regards Chris
  3. Where abouts are you? When was the cambelt changed? Was the water pump changed with it?Are there any problems with the gearbox/flywheel (due to the remap)?
  4. I take it this means i'll be ok using the ones off of a TT then? Big thanks for all the input
  5. See that's what the chap that sold me the discs, carriers & pads said, but i always thought you'd get more braking power with the bigger calipers?! Also golf turbo only does full kits. GSF Car Parts, cheap car parts direct to you have got some pads off a TT for £35 + vat eBay UK Shop - DUBSHACK COVENTRY: MK3 GOLF, MK4 GOLF, ENGINE'S also do second hand kits
  6. I've got the carriers ready and already painted VRS green, so it's just the calipers and pads required. Have heard octy vrs ones will fit but not sure whether MK1 or MK2?
  7. Hi all, I bought some grooved 312mm discs for my Furby vrs with some red stuff pads AGES ago, however i was told the pads would wear the discs quickly so sent them back. The problem i've got is that that company i bought the discs & pads from said i could do the conversion without changing the calipers - when i questioned him he said he'd done numerous conversions using the standard Furby VRS calipers?! So anyways the problem i got is that i can't find any calipers or pads unless i pay north of £100-£200 (Cheapest calipers are reconditioned ones @ £67 each + VAT)!!!!! I was hoping for a decent 2nd set off a car that has 312mm discs as standard - any ideas on cars & where i can get some from? Have been looking for a written off TT i can nick 'em off, but can't find one anywhere! I need to get them quick as my current pads are nearly on the metal! Cheers in advance for any help. Chris
  8. Thanks for all the help guys. One last question - How much should i expect to pay for a re-map? He's charging £380, but i've heard people say they've only paid between £100-200?
  9. I'm getting my car chipped by Impossible on Wednesday. They're saying it can be chipped up to 185bhp without any probs with the clutch, but i've heard you get problems above 150bhp? What is the max i can chip my fabia vrs up to without changing the clutch? Also does anyone know where i can get some callipers/pads for the 312mm brake conversion that aren't rediculously expensive? Any help would be great! Cheers
  10. cheers for all the help. One more thing - is it worth getting it fitted professionally or can someone that knows what they're doing do it? I get my licence back in october so i'll have the car ready by then - will post pics
  11. I was told today that the FMIC is only really needed on 220bhp+ engines, otherwise it's a waste of
  12. Thank you for all the help. Is the FMIC really needed as i have been told it is only really required for 220bhp+
  13. Hi all, I'm looking to get the most from my Fabia VRS & was wondering how to do it without spending rediculous amounts of money? I've been given some ideas by reading the forums but have no idea of the prices or where to get them, or whether they're in the right order? Ideas/order so far: 1 - Jabba ARB (don't know what this is) 2 - 312mm brakes 3 - Eibach springs 4 - PD160+ intake & green panel filter 5 - Strut brace 6 - FMIC system (don't know what this is) 7 - Uprated clutch 8 - Remap Any help would be much appreciated. Chris
  14. I'm new & this is my first post, so first of all i'd like to say hi to all. I'm picking up a 55 plate octy II 1.9Tdi at the weekend and want to tune it (was going to go for the 2.0Tdi but the 1.9's much more economical & not that much slower). I've already got eibach springs, 18" TSW rocket 5 wheels wrapped in avon 225/40/18 rubber & am taking it to celtic tuning for a remap, which shud push it to around 160bhp. Does anyone know of a cone filter that'll fit, or whether there's any advantage in having the cone over a k&n panel replacement? I'm also looking for a cat-back exhaust system for it, but don't like powerflo, so does anyone know of another system that'll fit?
