Had both electric tailgate struts failed on my 2015 Octavia III Scout with hall sensor errors on computer. While they are easy to remove, they are different from the Octavia 2 struts (they are not glued together and thus you have to cut the plastic cover to pull them apart if you want to get to the innards) Anyway I replaced them with two gas struts from Aliexpress. Vastly cheaper than electric struts and a lot less to go wrong. Fitting is easy but you have to loosen the tailgate mounts to fit them.
