  1. I’d check the clutch first - how much pedal travel you have before disengaging? Might just need some adjustment if it is a bit worn and starts slipping high up. If it is all right with the clutch then synchro rings might me the culprit. What is the mileage of you car? (If double clutching helps that would be synchro for sure, but it can’t be verified without taking the gearbox apart...) That’s my 0.02
  2. My default go-to music for testing audio equipment is the Bowers & Wilkins Very Audiophile New Recordings in lossless FLAC...
  3. A weird cracking noise drove me mad, apparently coming from around the rear side of the center console. Turned out to be a red (paper? plastic?) washer squeaking in the bottom side of the passenger seat, just take a peek from the rear footwell - the washers are apparent in the joints of the height adjustment scissor mechanism. A squirt of WD40 took care of it.
  4. I have pretty large hands but had no problem replacing the s3 bulbs. Got a few bruises though. Was 10 mins for both sides max.
  5. Same here. Love mine. Coming from a Xenon-equipped Discovery 3, the Skoda lights were a huge step up. SLA is a boon.
  6. I have the NBUs, noticeably better than the OEMs. Not really fond of the bluish hue of the CBI.
  7. If memory serves then it's in the settings menu... Found it! Owner's manual p137: › In the Navigation main menu, tap the functional surface  → Map . ■ Show road signs - Switch on/off the display of traffic signs ■ Lane guidance - Display of lane guidance on/off ■ Show favourites - Switch on/off the display of favourites ■ Show POIs - Switch on/off the display of POIs ■ Select categories for POIs - Selection of the displayed category for POIs ■ Show brands for POIs - Switch on/off the company logos available for the POIs shown
  8. Mwhaha Took me a second to sink in...
  9. Coming from a Volvo-licensed (Mazda) side traffic alert system got used to hear a “beep” wehenever there is an imminent danger of hitting a car (or some other object) in the blind spot. Basically it worked the same way as Skoda’s system with an amber light in the mirror, but started beeping when the turn signal was switched on the same direction as the alert came from. Is there a way to activate (or retrofit) a similar feature on the Superb? Even though I always look into the side mirror before switching lanes, it is fairly easy to miss the tiny light in it, especially during daytime.
  10. Thank you for the follow-up, The_Professor!
  11. Mine clears up fogging within 2..3 minutes (hatch). If you have auto start-stop that disables consumers (seat and window heating among others) once the engine is stopped and my hunch is that it might not restart them until the battery is sufficiently charged.
  12. Does the 1.8 have the same dual injection system as the 2.0? These are meant to prevent carbon deposits in the intake (direct injection petrol engines suffer from these). My personal preference would be the 1.8 for noise levels and general “smoothness”, but horses for sourses
  13. Happened to me maybe twice. Most probably a sw glitch with the headlight adjustment unit not initializing properly. Only happened at night startup though (i.e. it was dark outside so the low beams came up with the ignition), not once when the car was already running and drls were to be auto-switched to beams.
  14. Put in Osram Xenarc Night Breaker (d3s) bulbs. Gives a nice upgrade over the oems.
  15. ^ This. DSG pre-sets are not available via mode settings - it always starts up in "D". Only items in the "individual" mode menu are affected...
  16. Dealers here usually have these umbrellas in stock - along with other Skoda "lifestyle" stuff (mugs, wristbands, belts, hoodies, even bikes). I guess they'll just hand you two from the shelf... Btw, I love those - it is always a sure-hit when someone starts mumbling about not having umbrellas and I just point at the door
  17. Just a sidenote: IMHO the cardboard / cloth cover acts as a heat insulator, part of the "energy saving" measures. A plastic bin might not have the same insulation properties.
  18. 220TSI - no measurable oil consumption after the first 15k kilometers. I was prepared to see at least some - been carrying a bottle of Shell Helix in the trunk since day one, maybe that scared the engine from burning oil
  19. /OT: BillyJim: a "blob" is a datatype used for large binary files in Oracle databases. Most probably the server detected your iMac's browser as "Mac type" and tried to serve content accordingly which didn't work. You might have been able to fool it (by setting a developer option) and then your iMac could have been able to complete the download as a Windows browser could. OT/
  20. Smooth as the proverbial "baby's butt" - have yet to see a single jerky shift or hunting for gear after more than 7k with my 220 DSG. Start-stop can give it the occasional stop-noo-ooops-letsgo thingy but it has nothing to do with the DSG per se.
  21. ...you'll see... The Force is strong with this one... Much stronger than it was with your 150...
  22. I'll second that: if you have the financial cushion, go for it! Dead peeps don't grin - you have to do all the merry stuff beforehand...
  23. What ChesireBumpkin said: will stop closing and stays put whenever the lid hits an obstacle. Been there done that 3.5 meters would stick out too long (code here requires a flag or light on anything protrudes from the rear, and prohibits anything that sticks out more than .5 meter from the rearmost part of the body). You may want to fold down the passenger seat and wrap the poles in soft cloth to prevent scratching the seat or dash surface. I would not dare to push it all the way forward against the windshield - would scare the *bleep* out of me with every braking
  24. I'll let her know that and report back if she agrees, or nods empathically and orders me a 280 Actually, will mention the 280's turbo lag - maybe the hesitation before blast off would deter her from the upgrade...
  25. That might be the only point needed to be mentioned, and the missus will wish if only I had the 280 Now she has to get used to the 220...
