  1. Hi everyone. Firstly may I take this opportunity to wish you all a very happy, healthy and prosperous 2017 on this the first day of the New Year. For your interest I have just downloaded the latest (ref. 11/16) Yeti brochure pdf and notice that it has been reduced from its' previous 36 pages to only 28 and this results from all the information relating to "non Outdoor" Yetis having been removed. Further research from an article in my January 2017 issue of DieselCar magazine confirms that all non Outdoor models of the Yeti are no longer orderable. Is this news to every/any one and does it forecast the demise of the Yeti as we all know and love it now? As always I look forward to hearing your thoughts/comments and apologise in advance if this constitutes "old" news.
  2. I drove 356.5 miles yesterday ( :nerd: about statistics what?) in my MY2017 Yeti and it went like a dream. The DSG gearbox is superb, even slightly improved over the one I have in my 2014 138bhp Golf GT (despite the Yeti having only 6 gears rather than the Golf's 7). The seats are extremely comfortable (I chose the non-cost option of Alcantara as I have noticed that the leather seats "crease and bubble" very easily and don't return to their original flatness (you only need to look at a dealer's demonstrators/used models or photos of Yetis for sale on the internet sites to see what I mean). I have yet to do my first AdBlue top up but from various extremely helpful info on this site I don't foresee any problems. So far I am wavering between 40 to 45 mpg, dependant on type of roads driven and traffic conditions, which I am happy about. The "get up and go" from the SCR engine is wonderful and makes safe overtaking very easy and motorway cruising a breeze. The rear camera is well worth considering as it makes parking very relaxing. Good luck with your final choice.
  3. As posted elsewhere on Briskoda my Yeti was ordered from local dealer on 27th April this year and I drove it away from their forecourt on 5th September, but some of the delay was due to (i) factory holidays and (ii) making it as a MY2017 version ............. having now covered just over 2,000 miles of joyful motoring it was well worth the wait, can't believe I didn't buy one years ago - you live and learn!
  4. Hi everyone. Sorry I've been very quiet for sometime but I'm just loving the experience of being a Yeti owner - drove 356.5 miles in it yesterday (taking my total to just over 2K since new in September) and it never missed a beat ................ so just wanted to add my best wishes for a merry Xmas and a very happy, healthy and prosperous New Year to you all and to reiterate my gratitude for your responses back then in the first few weeks of me being a member; your feedback was invaluable and I'm confident it will continue to be so when I next need further information.
  5. For many years I have fitted these type of blinds to the rear windows of the various cars I have driven, usually having them supplied and fitted by the dealer from whom I purchased my car - however on this occasion the dealer informed me that this accessory was not an option from SKODA. As always the internet provided a variety of possibilities at varying costs but it was difficult to get a definitive confirmation that these would fit my new MY17 model (the suppliers seem only to suggest availability for "2009 on, 2009 to 2013, pre-face-lift model, etc.". I eventually got an absolute guarantee from Car Shades (part of the same organisation as Vanstyle UK) that their set of 6 shades would fit and THEY DO  ! Their website can be found at www.carshades.co.uk My research has shown that there is quite a differential in pricing from those that supply these shades but I am happy with what I paid for mine. The delivery time was only a few days, the packaging did an excellent job of protecting the contents from damage and upon opening it the shades that greeted me are of very high quality workmanship. Included are the relevant clips needed, a set of illustrated instructions (with an opportunity to gain further info by contacting CS direct for further guidance, which I did - don't talk to me about successfully putting flat pack furniture together!! Having finally got my head around how to fit them the job only actually took just under 10 minutes. Also included in the price is a quality pouch should one wish to remove and store the shades at any time. Should any other Yeti owners be interested I can throughly recommend these to you.

    Door mirrors

Not sure if this is of interest but I've purchased a pair of self adhesive blind spot mirrors for my new Yeti and they work superbly. They come in a variety of styles, two rim colours (black or silver) and are extremely competitively priced …… go to ebay and in the search box type in "convex blind spot mirrors" and all will be revealed from a multitude of sellers.
  7. Hi folks - just to reiterate comments I have made on one of the other AdBlue threads, as a new Yeti owner who had never heard of AdBlue before, I am really grateful for all the detailed information I have gleaned from you all. Many thanks.
  8. Hi everyone ……….. as a new Yeti owner and someone who has never had to deal with AdBlue in any previous car I have owned/driven before I am very grateful for all the information contained within all these posts. You guys rock . The good news is that on collection the dealer had put a freebee 1.8 litre bottle in the boot for me for my first top-up.
  9. Got my new MY17 Yeti on the 5th of this month and the sales guy tells me that the changes are (i) different style of gear lever knob, (ii) different number plate light and (iii) belt loops added to the seat belts. The other major change was a deletion of the option to purchase a 3 year service plan, leaving only an option of a 2 year plan.
  10. Hi VAGCF - I am very interested to hear that you think "flappy paddles" weren't ever an option as when I ordered my car back in April the sales executive told me they were an option but had to be stipulated and paid extra for (as distinct from my Golf where they were automatically included at no extra cost) however an email from him some days later informed me that SKODA had confirmed that this option was no longer available. Next time I'm in the dealership I'll be having a quiet word (LOL). The good news that even without the paddles I just love the DSG.
  11. My new Yeti (MY17), collected from dealer on 5th of this month, has DSG but the paddle shift option is no longer available - believe me I tried to get it fitted - (shame as I have it on my Golf and I agree entirely with 137699 - it's magic! Despite this disappointment the DSG is smooth and effortless and just makes me smile - I can't understand why anyone would want to drive a manual. I've only travelled some 500 miles so far but I'm a very happy owner and long may it continue. To date averaging just over 48mpg.
  12. This may be too late as you may have purchased one already, if not please refer to my post (yesterday) under the Forum heading "Door Sill Protectors" as this topic is also covering rear bumper protectors. Hope this helps.
  13. Don't know if this will be of interest but it works for me. Took delivery of my Yeti earlier this month (order was signed way back in week 18) having persuaded the local dealer to at least match my best offer which they did (see further). It may be slightly long winded but the system I have used for many years is to compile a listing of the exact specification I require and then email it to as many dealers as I would be prepared to travel to (distance wise) for "the right price" and wait for the offers to come in. Even though I always have a car to potentially part exchange I always tell them it will be a cash deal with no part exchange and wait for the offers to come rolling in. At the same time I contact all the well known brokers, specifically only wanting to deal with those where all monies are paid direct to the supplying dealer and then wait for their offers to come rolling in also. Once I'd got all the quotes in from dealers and brokers I took the details of my best three offers (two of which were identical) to my local dealer who agreed to match the best (surprisingly without me even having to give details of the names of the "quotees")………… interestingly they also offered to buy my "potential part exchange vehicle" if I still had it when the Yeti arrived, at a figure I would have accepted, but I managed to sell it back to the dealer that I bought it from (a few days before the Yeti was ready for collection) for a slightly better price (luck was with me that day!).
  14. Took delivery of my brand new Yeti on 5th of this month with one of my specified options being the space saver spare wheel and was pleasantly surprised to find that the factory had included the spare tyre inflation kit (presented in a very nice pouch) as well ………. and it fits perfectly in the space to the left of the space saver tyre, so I have the best of both options - neither of which I hope to need! Not sure if this is standard practice by the factory.

    Coasting

Thanks so much for all you input(s) everyone - I think I shall try each option for both coasting and stop/start (which I've had on other cars) over my next lengthy journeys (doing 'on' outward and 'off' homeward) and assimilate the results.
