  1. Cheers. Interesting to hear that different oils had an effect! I run mine on Castrol Edge Constantly. I might try one of the other oils following a change. I assume all are still VW 507.00 spec? Is there a big difference between consumption with Castrol vs the others? The company i work for had a Mk3 Octavia Scout a few years ago as a pool car with the same 184ps engine and this had an appetite for oil from new that remained for the 60k miles the company had it. Seems a common problem, although i'm sure VW/Skoda will suggest it is a "Characteristic of the Vehicle"!!! Happy new year!!
  2. I would be very keen of knowing how you get on with this and if it solves the problem! I also have a car with an EA288 TDI Engine (Golf Mk7 GTD with 184ps version in my case) which seems to have an appetite for oil. The consumption is maybe not as high as some here, but it takes possibly 2 litres between 10000 mile services. The car has 152k miles on the clock, but has had a liking for oil for some time now (as far as i can remember). Mine also seems to increase in consumption if i do more motorway driving. I thought turbo seals previously. Perhaps higher speed driving increases consumption vs town driving as the turbo is spinning at higher speeds/more continuously??? I hope it is not pistons either. Given the car drives perfectly, i would be seriously surprised if the pistons were in a similar state to those in the photos on page 1 - surely there would be some other signs!! Cheers
