  1. Sometimes it's horses for courses re car jacking and yes I've read that VWs appear to be more susceptible but tha'ts maybe because there are more of them. A SA friend has just recently moved here and he had a Golf 1.4TSI. My brother who's retired there drives a Hyundai Santa Fe SUV 4x4 and swears by it. Roads are generally very good so if you are not planning doing much offroad then is a 4x4 necessary? If I go back to the 1960' 1970' my Father had Mercs (not 4x4) and had to contend to a much higher % of dirt roads. They and VW were the only cars that didn't fall apart on dirt roads. 4x4 were only owned by those in very rural areas. I was living in Zimbabwe 1997-2001 and had a VW Caravelle with V6 VW engine as standard factory. Was not 4x4 but did travel through Mocambique, Zambia, Malawi, SA with no problems
  2. Hi there I notice you have the 170BHP. Mine will be the 150 which is new and considering mapping it to 170/180. Looked at JKM of Portsmouth and the only 150 they have listed is for the new Octavia. Any ideas?
  3. Coming from Africa and visited many times, I would suggest Japanese (UN use Landcruisers mainly). VW manufacture there so The new Tiguan/Tourag would be good options. For me are 2 important items. Availability of spares, good dealer servicing, reliability (and anti car jacking lol). Mercs are also very good. However the high end value cars would be susceptible to car jacking
  4. Well done Jason. I passed my IAM back in 1976 and became an observer for a couple of years.Got my to do the IAM 6 months after passing her driving test and what an incredible amazing difference. When I worked at Aston Martin, also participated in Police driving course and had two staff entries to race tracks here. Also drove many exotic cars all around EU including the Artic circle where they do cold weather testing.
  5. I ordered mine (L&K spec) in 2nd week September and it's due for delivery 4th November. Light assist are auto lights which will automatically come on at dusk or in a tunnel etc. You should also have auto wipe
  6. Hi Just to say that I've ordered a new Yeti 4x4 in L&K trim. Hopefully get it in 3 weeks time. I was a member here before having owned an Octavia 2.0TDI estate and the limited edition Octavia VRs in grey Look forward to comments, advice
