Getting back to the original topic.... I test drove both 150 and 190 and really couldn't see that much difference but also towing a caravan I was moving towards the 190 with it's greater torque. However I wasn't buying new so it was a case of waiting to see what was available. I ended up, 12 months ago, with a 190 4x4 DSG, like GeorgeB's it was ex-Skoda . I've been pleased with it but I reckon it is a little bit gruffer on acceleration and on certain occasions there is some vibration but nothing much. However like GeorgeB I was disappointed with throttle response so found a local VCDS owner and did the Audi mod and the difference was startling. It will just pootle along if I want it to but just get even a little bit heavier with the right foot and it really takes off. It has really surprised many of my friends who have, they would say, much sportier and more upmarket cars. I would also agree with GeorgeB's fuel consumption figures. What the Audi mod would do to a 150 I don't know. As far as colour is concerned mine looks gorgeous in Black Magic ....... for about 2 days given our weather! It shows up every little bit of muck and dust so if you're not keen on car cleaning, and I'm not, silver would be better.

I have a Dec 15 190 4x4 hatch with 17000 on the clock. On a recent trip Aberdeen it managed 51.5. Not long before this I have the VCDS option changed to tell the system that it was an Audi rather than a Skoda (great low cost mod which improves throttle response quite a bit) so I don't reckon this is too bad. Until I got to Sterling speed was kept about 75mph and the A66 was quite congested at times. From Sterling northwards it's mainly average speed cameras so then it was 70mph. When I first got the car I was quite disappointed, having been taken in by the official figures - I always know they are exaggerated but this was a big discrepancy. Very short trips around town when it's cold can really give some low figures but I suppose it's to be expected (must use my wife's Fabia a bit more!) but I think the engine is loosening up a bit and I expect it to improve just a bit over the next year or so.

My 190 4x4 is in Black Magic and when it is clean it looks fabulous. HOWEVER it does show dust and dirt like you wouldn't believe. My previous car (Mondeo) was a silver and I could go ages without washing it and it still looked OK. Now I have to was much more often. Each time I finish, though, I step back, look and think it's worth it!

I've got the same rasping sound on mine. Acceleration doesn't have to be that hard either. It's not a big problem but I did bring it to the attention of my Skoda dealer at the first service. They claimed that they couldn't detect anything but I reckon they only listened in the service bay. It happens under load not in neutral and I did tell them that but they were either deaf, forgot or just ignored it. I've left it because I'm having the VCDS option changed so the engine management uses the Audi option rather than the Skoda in the next week or so and this may disappear as a byproduct of the change. I'll try and let you know.

I've had my 190 dsg 4x4 since October and I do quite a lot of short runs then 750 mile round trip to Aberdeen . Like a couple of other posters I don't hang around on long runs but I'm not an idiot. Around town it's normally about 40 (sometimes even a bit below) and on the Aberdeen run high 40's. Once I think it just cracked 50. Overall a little disappointing but maybe I didn't take the brochure figures with a big enough inch of salt!

I've used Goodyear assymetric F2 (?) to good effect for a few years with the odd Dunlop thrown in for a change. Wear isn't too bad on the Goodyears and they are quiet. Also very good in the wet.

I've had various deisels for the last 12 years or so and they've got better and better. However this time I seriously considered a petrol for the pollution issues etc. My mileage is just on the balance - about 12000 miles - so it could have gone either way. After testing it was the torque that mattered as I tow a caravan and only the deisels gave me it unless I went silly with the petrol engine spec. I have towed with a petrol in the past but it was hard work and appalling fuel consumption. Things are changing and in 5 years the decision may be different again. Until then, though, deisel it will have to be.

With Pirelli's on 19" wheels on my 190 DSG 4x4 I'm on slightly over 6mm with 9000 miles. Anyone know if the four wheel drive makes a difference to tyre wear front or back?

Well I've got it back from the dealer. The day before taking it in the addblue range came down from 5500 to 5000 and it started to show how much for min and max top - up. Discussed this with service and agreed not to investigate as it seems to be ok. They have met one other Superb where the person filling the addblue didn't take any notice of the amount recommended and just kept adding until he couldn't get any more in. It seems to be that the tank holds more than the limit of the sensor - if there's liquid at the max sensor level then that is all that is recorded. When you've used enough to go below the max sensor then things return to normal. Phew, that's put that one to bed. Now whilst I was there and as they were expecting the car in they did a "campaign" update. It seems there is a problem with the door seals. Some need re-glueing apparently. Anyway got the car back with everything done, washed and hoovered with no cost. A good day in Skodaworld!

I agree that the Skoda service plan is not a great deal. I've just come from a Mondeo and had a Ford service plan for years. That gave a substantial reduction on the normal service plan, 10% off any parts including tyres etc., full European breakdown cover and priority booking. In all a great deal. The local main dealer was also excellent. Trouble is the latest Mondeo can't match the Superb III I've just bought. My wife's had a Fabia since they first came out so I can compare service between the dealers and, much to my surprise, up to press Ford comes out on top. I think Skoda needs to up their game with the service plan as they've got great cars but are slipping behind on the ownership experience.

My problem isn't quite the same but probably related. I purchased the car with 6000 miles on the clock and the AdBlue range was 5500 miles. I've done nearly 3000 miles since then and the AdBlue range is ...... 5500 miles. Absolutely no change. It also shows the minimum top up up is 0.75l and the maximum top up is .... 0.75l. It goes into the dealer next week. The car was built September 2015 so I don't know if others with the problem were built around the same time. Will try and post when I get it back from the dealer.

I've had Mondeo's for the past 10 years and the heated front windscreens were brilliant. Now had my Superb III SE-L Exec for 5 weeks. Brilliant car but no heated front windscreen - buying v. slightly used saves a shedload of money but you can't sometimes get the car with all you want. I really miss the windscreen, particularly today with temperatures below zero. So if anyone has the chance to spec then do so. You won't regret it.

Same with mine. Amber at low speed. Once threshold speed is reached it turns green. When travelling on (say) motorway when I indicate to change lanes it turns amber for the duration of the indicator then returns to green.

Previous 2 cars were a mk3 mondeo and a m4 mondeo. Great cars and the latter I had for 7 years (I'm a private buyer - no perks from employer) and have just sold it with great sadness. Tested new mondeo, superb, various SUV's and other cars. Came down to superb vs mondeo. Very tough choice as mondeo was a better driver's car but the superb had a far better interior. I buy my cars used but 6-9 months old with as few miles as possible and interestingly the mondeo was cheaper for the same spec (rapid depreciation eh?) and only needed servicing every 2 years but in the end went for a superb se-l executive 190 DSG 4x4 with park assist, smart light assist, lane assist, blind spot, 3 zone climate control + a few other bits. It was the sales manager's car at a Birmingham dealer and after haggling I reckon that I got a bargain - over £12k below list with only 6000 on the clock. The mondeo was too big outside but realtively small inside. The interior quality wasn't a patch on the superb and the infotainment system was clunky. I've had it for a whole 6 days and I think I've fallen in love with it. Absolutely brilliant at what it does and oh so practical. No regrets about my decision. Time will tell but were off to a great start.
