  1. Really appreciate that MicMac, would I be pushing my luck if I asked for the PD securing bolt data too?? Cheers Tristan
  2. I had a look on there, plenty stuff about the petrol engines variants but nothing for BKD 2ltr 16v??
  3. You can do a current draw test to establish if the starter is at fault, I used to work at a local dealer and this was a common issue, a battery & / or a starter always used to fix the fault, check the cam / crank sensor correlation too, If cam sensor is faulty is should record a fault for G249 IIRC? Check your engine/body earths too Hope that helps Tris
  4. Hi guys after trawling the Internet for several hours I've given in, I cannot find the tightening data for the head cradle bolts on the BKD engine, It's actually for a Passat that I'm putting back together for a very good friend of mine after his local VW dealer wrongly diagnosed a running fault and removed the head (actually no need as the cap had popped off the end of the rear rocker shaft thus starving the roller rockers of oil and destroying a few of them) I've cleaned it all out, replaced the shaft and all 8 rockers, sat the cradle back on to the head and wound down the bolts evenly and "nipped" them up but would like to know the correct torque for them as well as the little "closing" caps crews that wind in after the head bolts at the front of the cradle, would also be useful to have the tightening values for the unit injector rocker shaft bolts too. Many Thanks in advance Tris
  5. So what's "PolarFIS"? Cheers
  6. Hi guys how can I enable n/s dipping mirror when selecting reverse on my 05' Octavia II Elegance as per L & K, I have VCDS I take it it's through Convenience but wondered which "bit" I should change ? Cheers Tris
  7. So the kits from Gendan are safe then, looks good value for the money ? Cheers
  8. I was hoping that there would be something else out there that would offer similar functionality, what does VCDS cost, any web links etc ?
  9. That 1,6 CR engine isn't all it's cracked up to be to be honest the old PD unit without all the extra emission reg stuff on it was far better as far as MPG and reliability went, I have a mapped 2ltr PD that achieves 60's on a run and it's in the 50's with me driving it enthusiastically locally and trust me it gets no sympathy either, the common rail unit seems to get better with higher mileage I used to get a fair amount of customers moaning about mpg with the 1.6 Cr, especially those that had owned vehicles with the previous generation engines, Since moved on to a different franchise where life is far more harmonious !
  10. Hi guys, now I'm an ex Skoda Dealer employee I no longer have the luxury of using VAS and the disaster that was ODIS, I'm now looking for a diagnostic scanner that I can use with my Octavia II to help me with any issues that I might encounter over the next few years with out having to shell out for some one else's help. I need it to read all the vehicles systems, so Engine, Abs, Airbag system and convenience etc, I haven't the budget to buy vagcom so that's out, have scanned the Internet and EBay and there's so many options! So, Anyone got any experience with any VAG specific or all makes diagnostic equipment that can be bought for under £150.00, I would prefer if it covered all OBDII vehicles as I also have a Peugeot and my mum has a Vauxhall Thanks in advance
  11. Hi Guys, I have just bought a Bolero for my 05 plate Octavia 2.0ltr Pd Elegance, Ive purchased the aerial lead and wanted to know the part no for the suitable Can Gateway, I have seen one on Ebay part no 1K0907951 from a 07 plate Mk5 Golf ? Sorry to hijack your thread ! Tristan
  12. Hi all Im sick of paying thru the nose for fuel :'( so any input will be gratefully received, I know of a local taxi firm that has a fleet of 20+ Octavias all running on a mix of diesel / bio but they store said fuel in a huge plastic tank as they buy in bulk and I dont have the space to have somethink like this dont think my neighbours would be overly chuffed either lol. I looking for input of various people experiences of Bio and or mixed fuels and the best way of going about buying it, I wouldnt object to say getting it 100 ltrs at a time in say 25ltr drums or something like that ? Im no longer prepared to tolerate the governments continual tax hikes and ripping off of the poor british motorist its getting beyond a joke, we all need to get to work to earn a living. Having browsed through alot of posts on here it would seem that 100% bio isnt a great idea for the PD engine, so what fuels are safe in 100% proportion other than std diesel from the pump, or what "mix" is safe to use long term ?. My car is an 05' plate Octavia 2.0ltr Elegance with around 60k on the clock and has so far been totally trouble free, Its also been mapped by Angel if that influences the issue at all ?, I generally get around 550 miles to a tank so consumption is good its just the price of the stuff that isnt I live nr Canterbury in Kent to give you guys a rough location so any local options for me ? Cheers Tris
  13. I was (Up until recently) a service advisor at a local Skoda dealership, Things are getting silly bloody engine management lights, Dpf warnings really a king sized pain in the arse why the hell they dont test the technology further is beyond me, VW/Skoda really arent doing themselves any favours and really do sod all to help the dealers as well, Im sooooo glad to be out of it I was sick to death of issue after issue, I used to really endorse the product years ago and really enjoyed working with it but wouldnt recommend anyone buy one nowadays I think sadly that theyre nothing but a troublesome pile of I still have no problems with my 05 Octavia 2.0ltr TDi (Car from the good days) , and can honestly say my 20 year old french sack of poo is more reliable and trouble free than the majority of the cars I saw at work !, sorry to be so negative
  14. Any one got the part no for the said gasket ? Cheers Tris
