three cylinder engine overheating causing valve failure
As i understand it this issue affected Mark 3Fabias made between 2018 and 2020? It was too dark outside when I first read the post to be able to get the VIN and check it out against the list of Skoda recalls . I will do this tomorrow and will post the answer. My car has done just over1400O miles. I certainly have not had a letter from Skoda to inform me about any recall but I am well aware that this doesnt always mean a great deal.. My car was first registered March 2021 so obviously it was built before then. I have got the original paperwork and it is a date in January or February 2021 from memory but, again, I will look tomorrow, As this is an overheating issue you would hope that you would get some help from the coolant temperature gauge but mine never goes over 90C even in really heavy traffic. I was in a traffic jam last week where the M54 merges with the M6 and that lasted for half an hour or more and the gauge didnt rise at all which did surprise me. If the gauge isnt much help that only leaves checking the plugs regularly but then how often should that need to be done? Weekly, monthly or something else Thanks for reading.

Car accelerates quickly when cold and has a high idle if you switch off when cold and restart
Thanks to everyone who has posted on this. The gasoline particulate filter ( GPF) has been mentioned more than once as a possible contributor and mention has been made of the GPF warning light that will come on if there is a problem with this filter. This warning light has never come on since I have owned the car including when I get this current issue. So presumably, unless the warning light itself is inoperative for whatever reason the problem does not lie with the GPF?? The right turn I mentioned in my post often has vehicles parked close to the turn and I always try to take it slowly and carefully because you cannot see traffic coming from the main road. Factoring in the parked vehicles means too high a speed could cause an accident, albeit a minor one I have contacted the workshop supervisor to see if this has been reported before and what action was taken and whether it needs to go in to be checked.

Car accelerates quickly when cold and has a high idle if you switch off when cold and restart
Hello, My 2021 Fabia 3 estate accelerates quite hard when its cold. I reverse off my drive and its what I would expect, acceleration is normal. When I put it into first gear then quickly into 2nd it really goes at a fair rate of knots, I should add that I live at the top of a cul de sac and there is a right turn to the main road and it gets up to 15/20 mph without me using the accelerator at all. I usually end up having to brake before the right turn and this is new behaviour to me. iF i didnt brake I would make the turn at too high a speed for my liking. With previous cars including previous Fabias the car has been sluggish doing the same thing, changing up into second etc, no more than 5 to 10mph. I also have something I havent had in previous cars. When I first start up from cold the revs are 1500rpm. if I switch off after a short while but before the coolant reaches 90 C the revs are again 1500 rpm. With previous cars in the same circumstances the revs would remain at between 600 and 700 rpm. I do not regard these things a faults but I am keen to know what causes them. I think my Fabia 3 has anti stall technology; is that correct? Is that why the revs are so high if i switch off then restart before operating temp is reached? Does it also explain the initial strong acceleration when cold? Thanks for reading.

Sound changing to ‘voice/phone mode’ after driving for a minute or so when using CarPlay.
This is further to my response of last Thursday. I should have added that my post on Briskoda that I referred to was dated July 29th and it started with the words I need help.... Thanks.

Sound changing to ‘voice/phone mode’ after driving for a minute or so when using CarPlay.
This may or may not help you but you seem to be experiencing changes to your computer settings which happen on their own without you doing anything. Is that correct? I had a problem with my 2i plate Fabia estate some time ago where the central display was showing driving data and of its own accord the display changed to other settings. These included connect phone and infotainment system switched off. I raised it with the workshop and they did an update that so far anyway has sorted it. This problem started in early August and happened 5 or 6 times and the update was done just over two weeks ago. I know this isnt exactly the same issue as you are posting about but the common thread is settings are changing for you without any action on your part as they did with me. Is it worth asking the dealership if they have an update for your issue? Hope this helps.

Could not read either the coolant temp gauge or fuel level.
Hello, My own car is a 21 plate Mark 3 Fabia estate but i was given a 21 plate Octavia Mk 4 petrol as a loan car by the dealership when mine was in for warranty work recently. It was OK , all sorts of gadgets that are not on mine but I found 2 things irritating ( even just on a day loan car) and am posting to get answers. The first is the coolant temperature gauge. With my Fabia the gauge starts working when I start the car and is really easy to read .With the Octavia nothing at all happens or, at least, thats how it seems. I cant believe the dealership had disabled it( why would they?) but I had no idea what was happening coolant wise. It could have been normal or it could have been overheating. I was none the wiser. I did about 50 miles in the car and had to assume that all was well but I like to be able to see the gauge working in front of me. The second is the fuel gauge. I saw the fuel gauge but, again, nothing seemed to be happening. I put fuel in and nothing changed in the gauge. I couldnt tell whether I had a full tank or pretty much empty and it was a tad disconcerting. There was no handbook with the car so I couldnt look up either of these things. I am assuming that something had to be pressed inside to activate one or both yet even as I write this neither of those suggestions makes sense. If not it can only have been that I wasnt reading these 2 gauges correctly yet, again, I cant see that being correct either. I have had quite a few loan cars before and I have never experienced either of these things before with any of them. I would have thought it was definitely in the dealerships interests not to have to come out to a car that had either run out of fuel or had overheated? In short, I am flummoxed and would welcome the answers which I know will be out there. Thanks.

I need help with sorting some computer settings that have suddenly just been lost.
Hello, This is Hetty 1updating my fellow Briskodians. I told the service department about it and they said they were unaware of the problem and the car needed to come into the workshop to be investigated under warranty. So an appointment was made and I got a courtesy car for free; they normally charge to put you on the groups insurance. I got it back late this afternoon and they said the problem is sorted. They did an update apparently. I forgot to ask them for a copy of what was done so I cant tell you any more than that. I will try to get a copy though and I will happily share the contents. These might not mean much to the likes of me but I am sure it will to some readers of this post. Thanks.

I need help with sorting some computer settings that have suddenly just been lost.
Hello all. You will remember I posted a few weeks ago about menus on the car suddenly disappearing and being replaced by another menu. I said at the time that I thought this happened each time after hitting a ridge/pothole. The Skoda garage have since shown me to get back to the original menu and it is very easy but that begs the question of what on earth is happening? In just nine weeks this has happened five times and it is not even as though the same menu replaces each time. I like having the display on driving data up because it gives me useful stuff like the engine oil temperature and the long term fuel consumption. That has been replaced by such disparate menus as infotainment system switched off; by front assist ticked to show it is activated; by mobile phone needs to be switched on to this menu. So three separate menus and the with last two I did not even hit a ridge etc, i was told by a member of the sales staff that they were confident it was not a fault and I am not criticising anyone , they have been very helpful to me. However, it could be a fault because when I contacted the service department at the dealership to put them in the picture they immediately arranged for it to be booked in to be investigated under warranty. I didnt ask for that, They took the decision. I am sure some people would find it really distracting to have that happen in front of them and that cant be good safety wise. The service department also said they hadnt come across this yet I was also told by sales staff that this was a common query, that several people a week had made contact to ask what was happening and how to change the menus back. So something is definitely strange here. The car is booked in for early next month. I will do a note of what has happened and what has been said and I will hand that in to service reception when I go in. I hope they can find the cause and I hope it gets sorted. If it does recur( or they cant find anything wrong) that will definitely make me wonder if quality control is not all it should be on the facelifted Skoda Fabia mark 3 range. I will definitely keep you posted. Looking forward to reading your posts on this.

I need help with sorting some computer settings that have suddenly just been lost.
As I promised, one update. I took the car into the Fabia garage at the agreed time and it was fixed within a couple of minutes by the salesperson I had arranged to meet. He used the square button to the right of the button used for scrolling to change the menu from infotainment not working to the menu I had been on . He provided 3 steps for me in writing in case it ever happened again. He did say one thing that I found very interesting and that was that several customers every week contacted them to sort this very same problem out. Thanks.

I need help with sorting some computer settings that have suddenly just been lost.
Very happy to oblige. The salesperson who sold me the car is on holiday but I contacted a sales colleague of his and I am going into the Skoda garage to see him this coming Wednesday. He says he believes the menu I was on has been knocked off course and he will put it back and show me how and will give me written instructions to use if it happened again. He also says he is confident this is not a fault and he can sort it. This sounds OK to me and i will see what actually happens on Wednesday. I will of course let you all on Briskoda know what happens and what had to be done to restore the status quo. Oh, to NTA. I would say I have read the handbook carefully, thats one of the very first things I do when I buy any car. Thanks to everyone who posted.

I need help with sorting some computer settings that have suddenly just been lost.
Hello, I need to make it clear at the outset that I have no mechanical or computer skills at all. What would be a very simple fix to someone else is impossible for me, thats just how it is and i need to make that crystal clear. My car is a 2021 Fabia SEL estate. 95 bhp. When I got my car exactly 14 days ago i could use the scroll on the wheel to bring up items like the oil temperature, road speed and remaining range all on the central screen. I did use this facility regularly but that changed with no warning today. I went over a deep ridge in the road at no more than 20/25mph, it was coming up to a mini roundabout. and the screen literally went crazy. Images flashed on and off, items like nav, there were others. When it stopped going crazy I had the message up saying infotainment switched off. It hadnt been there once before before I hit the ridge. It wasnt there when I collected the car nor at any time until today. I can turn the infotainment on and off and I can play the radio and could use the sat nav if I wanted to and if I needed it. When i got home I tried switching off and running the engine to see if that changed anything but it didnt. So I have this permanent message on the central screen when the engine is tunning I neither want or need and I cannot display messages that were very useful to me. If I now try using the scroll facility it only brings up a list of radio stations. Even a computer thicko like me does not need a permanent message each time I start up to tell me the infotainment is switched off when that is blindingly obvious! So I am asking for an IDIOT GUIDE to sorting this out in GREAT DETAIL, a real step by step guide with nothing at all missed out. I will not be insulted by the fine print being spelt out believe me! I would guess that the solution lies in one of the buttons on the large screen but I wouldnt have a clue which one it is and what needs doing. I do appreciate some of you may not consider this a big deal: . that the running of the car is not affected etc but something happened today that removed useful features and replaced them with something decidedly not useful to me and I would like it back to what it was immediately before I hit the ridge. Is it possible that the unwanted message will have vanished on its own when I next start the engine or is that wishful thinking on my part? I am also concerned in case messages I do want to see like the front assist coming up to tell me I am too close to the car in front cannot now get through because of today. I have looked at the car handbook and cannot find anything to do with this that would help. Look forward to hearing from you with your detailed and specific step by step suggestions.

Thoughts on the 1 litre 3 cylinder 95 bhp engine in a Fabia tsi estate including tickover speed and engine oil. Plus anything else anyone has found!
I collected the new car yesterday and found it very lively and responsive. Brakes and clutch were fine, my earlier concerns were unfounded. Its hard to believe that it is 15bbhp less and 11 pounds per square foot torque less than my 110, Its quieter too. Enjoying driving it. I have just the one question to ask AG Falco and nta 16 about the tyre pressures. I have been told many times over the years by garages and tyre shops that the eco setting will definitely improve the fuel consumption but at the price of tyre longevity. The reason, they said, was that the additional pressure wears out the centre of the tyre quicker. It decreased the rolling resistance so better fuel consumption but the price paid was tyre longevity. My tyres have been increased to eco more than once by garages without my consent and the fuel consumption is heaps better. 10% better or more but I have always reduced them back down to normal/standard. You both say otherwise and I am puzzled. Thanks.

Thoughts on the 1 litre 3 cylinder 95 bhp engine in a Fabia tsi estate including tickover speed and engine oil. Plus anything else anyone has found!
Yes, I do over think/over worry about things, not just cars. i I need a really reliable car to have any sort of quality of life but I also know very well that even if I bought a brand new car thats no guarantee that it wouldnt give me problem, perhaps big problems. . Thats the dilemma for someone like me, non mechanical and no one close to me who does have that skillset. The i litre I am collecting tomorrow was on variable servicing , I got it changed to annual, I am a low mileage driver, 5000/6000 miles pa . A fair bit of town driving . Its interesting to see that VAG recommend 0w20 oil, I didnt know that. That isnt the case with my present 17 plate car, a Fabia Mk 3 5w 30 was fine to have that oil when I bought it in January 2020 and is still fine but obviously things change over time. So I am happy with the choice of oil for the 1.0 litre . I know exactly what you mean regarding low down torque and clutch control; I dont have a garage but I do trickle along in stop start traffic with absolutely no throttle. You havent commented on the high tickover; can you remember if the 1. 0 you hired had that and if it was did it give you any problems engaging gear? As a non mechanical person I made several suggestions about brakes, clutches and tyres. As you are clearly a more mechanically minded person than I am do you see any obvious flaws in any of my suggestions/assertions? For example, if a car covers 9000miles a year as this one has would you agree that the clutch has probably incurred less wear than one that has done say, 5000 miles with more town motoring and more use of the clutch? I cant see the Nexens on the car quite matching the figure you mention but they may well have never been rotated and workshops very often inflate them to their eco pressure rather than the standard pressure which, of course, reduces their longevity.. i have had several disagreements with workshops over this when they have done this, always without asking me. Do you have a view on the wisdom or otherwise of buying a used car from Skoda HQ? I deliberated hard and long before deciding to go for it. If you could comment further as per my requests I assure you that your comments will be read most carefully. Thanks very much. for posting.

Thoughts on the 1 litre 3 cylinder 95 bhp engine in a Fabia tsi estate including tickover speed and engine oil. Plus anything else anyone has found!
Hello, I have traded in my 2017 Fabia 110sel estate for a 2021 Fabia 95 sel estate, first registered March 2021 I am picking it up tomorrow.. This is my first Fabia with the 3 cylinder engine. I thought the tickover was a bit high at around 1000 rpm but was told by the garage that is normal for these engines. Is that correct? The fan and A/C were on but not all of the time. Is1000rpm Even if it is a bit high theres nothing I can do it with my non existent mechanical skillset and not a great deal the Skoda dealer can do either apart from work on the ECU and I cant see them doing that in a hurry, A high tickover doesnt bother me one bit on environmental grounds. It could make gear selection more difficult than it need be and I didnt think this was as good as on my current car but there were no huge gear selection problems on the test drive. A bit notchy maybe. Anyone experienced being unable to engage a gear? The torque comes in at higher rpm I think on these engines, 1800rpm against 1400 on mine but I am not sure if that is just the 95 engine . The clutch seems to have a higher biting point and I stalled it once or twice when trying to take off but all clutches are different and that doesnt bother me overmuch. The clutch works off an offshoot of the hydraulic system after all and theres not much I or anyone else can do about its performance. As long as the hydraulic fluid is up to the right level and is clean thats about all anyone can do. l The car has done 12300 miles, it has been owned from new by Skoda HQ in Milton Keynes. I confess I had a few doubts about buying a car that could have had multiple drivers but the tyres havent worn badly ( Nexen all round, probably 6 to 8 thousand left, more with annual rotation and regular pressure checks) so not indicative of being thrashed or driven badly. Brakes too seem to have not been used over harshly, 10mm left on the front pads isnt bad in my opinion. Again, 12000 miles in 16 months says to me the car has had a fair bit of open road motoring so the clutch should have had a reasonably easy time? There are no certainties with any of these things of course anymore than there would be with a brand new car . One thing that did surprise me was the choice of engine oil used in the first annual service. it was 0w20 SAE. I will have to wait and see how oil consumption pans out over time of course but 0w20 does seem thin but it might be OK. I would have thought a 5w30 would have been chosen but not so and only time will tell. Its long life fully synthetic which should help. Any observations at all from my fellow Briskodians on any of the above plus any that are not will be most welcome. I know nothing at all about the 3 cylinder engines, I have never had a Skoda 3 pot or any 3 pot come to that. If I could I would definitely have stuck with the old 1.2 tsi engines. I thought they were excellent but they were got rid off years ago with the revamp now so no choice. Hopefully, this car will turn out OK , i have done my usual checks ( carpets checked for signs of damp, rapid tyre wear excessive noise) . OK, not the most sophisticated checks but better than nothing? Plus the Skoda stealership has checked it out in the workshop and serviced it and driven it and they says its fine. Probably doesnt mean much but better than nothing at all? Thanks in advance.

Is there a moulding from the bottom to half way up on my coolant expansion tank on my Fabia 3?
To all 3 of you who have replied, thanks very much, looks like its a seam then. Ken, my tank is shaped like yours, the line only goes halfway to the rim, not all the way bottom to top on both halves. Silly mistake on my part, apologies. JR, I take your point about the silicon, it wouldnt help, you too feel its a seam/mould line so thats good. AG Falco you have been very clear as you always are and have described exactly what I have seen, the bottom half only, from where the coolant comes in up to the halfway point, I feel relieved. Turning to your question: have I replied to the last thread I started about the oil temperature? I havent yet. I only got back last night from a night away in North Wales last night that was great but everywhere was very busy and I was really tired so hadnt got round to it. Excuses over, very happy to reply to you though, I have read all the info you sent me most has been absorbed and I will go back to check it all out again. I checked the oil temperature 2 or 3 times after travelling for at last half an hour or more. The outside temperatures were 17/18 degrees C and the oil temps showed up as 94 and 95 degrees C. If I had been permitted by the North Wales highways authorities to travel at the right speed for the surroundings, ie 70mph,( long stretches of the A5 with no dwellings at all but still restricted to 50mph for some inexplicable reason and very regular speed warning signs) and the outside temp had been higher I am sure the oil temp would have been high 90s or low 100s.

Is there a moulding from the bottom to half way up on my coolant expansion tank on my Fabia 3?
Hello, i have a petrol Fabia estate estate,110bhp, registered June 2017. I have just discovered what looks like a possible moulding on the expansion tank that runs from the bottom where the hose comes into the tank to the rim between the two marks. It could possibly be a crack. I have run my fingers up it and it feels completely smooth. I am going away later this month and the last thing I want is a crack that gets worse and leads to coolant loss. I do carry G13 concentrate but I want to be out and about on my holiday seeing new places etc not topping up leaking tanks. Could this be related to the sensor that will trigger the warning light if the level drops below the minimum? I apologise if this sounds like a stupid question but I am not remotely a practical car person so what is obvious to someone else is not obvious to me. If that is the case then thats fine, no problem, theres no need for any action. Have other Briskodians who own similar cars from this era found that their expansion tanks develop cracks? The car is almost 5 years old now and the tank, as far as I know and can see is the original. It has G13 on it as a reminder to use only the correct fluid. If I do have a crack I was thinking of coating it with clear silicon to prevent any problems. That would not look unsightly, would not be a permanent reminder as the white silicon would. Does that seem a sensible fix? If not and I have no choice but to buy a replacement tank I dont think they cost a great deal? £30 or less? The problem for me would be fitting it as I dont have the required mechanical skillset. So it would have to be fitted by my independent. As far as I can tell that wouldnt be a big job but would it have to involve bleeding to remove air locks and new coolant adding? I always value the responses I get from my fellow Briskodians who know more than I do to help solve problems. I cant go in to my independent until Monday, after the Bank Holiday and i go away in two weeks time. I cant supply a photo because, literally, there is nothing to see once I cleaned off the inevitable gunge. I saw it when the gunge was still on it but I dont think a photo would have worked even with it on.

What is the optimum oil temperature for my 2017 Fabia 3 110?
Hello, I was idly scrolling through using the wheel on the steering wheel today in the afternoon. The oil temperature was 70 degrees plus centigrade. The car had only been driven for a mile, two at the most, was in an urban area and speeds were fairly low, no more than 50 mph. in 6th gear, 2700 rpm. The coolant gauge was reading 90 degrees centigrade. I realise that today is not a true test. The car wasnt being driven hard, it was just about warm as opposed to being really hot and 70 degrees plus isnt representative. I am using Castrol Edge 5w30 long life fully synthetic and have done since buying the car in January 2020. I would have thought that an oil temperature of 100 degrees C or a bit higher would be about right for when the car was really hot and was being driven hard at motorway speeds. Is my understanding correct? I am taking a journey next week where I expect to cover the ground speedily on a dual carriageway road into North Wales and expect to cover 80 plus miles in not much more than an hour. I am also going on a holiday next month to North Yorkshire and some of the roads I will be using permit some definitely speedy driving if I can put it that way. I have been told by a friend who also has a Fabia 110 that the oil temperature should never drop below 50 degrees C even in winter. Is that correct with the Castrol Edge 5w30 ? It does seem a high temperature to me when the ambient temp is freezing or less. I realise its impossible to have a rigid "max" and a rigid "min" but I would appreciate the wisdom of my fellow Briskodians as to some broad variants for the oil temperature. Thanks, look forward to reading your comments and learning more about my car.

Is there an easy fix for my inoperative seat belt warning light?
Freedom Lite, I really appreciate your latest post. Unfortunately, I did hover over both names and I did get the box to appear but no "message" button appeared so couldnt send a message. Both my wife and I tried this and she is definitely more computer proficient than I am . This will be our computer system once again showing its shortcomings, we have had a lot of trouble with issues like erratic broadband and is certainly no reflection on what you have provided. It has proved impossible to diagnose the problem so rectification is equally impossible. So i am not going to try to take this any further. i will, though, be following your tips on testing the rear belts, starting tomorrow when we go out for lunch. They are very full and very useful. Although I am closing this post I have learnt a lot about the car seatbelt warning system and some of it has been a real surprise so most definitely worthwhile from my point of view. Thanks to everyone who posted.

Is there an easy fix for my inoperative seat belt warning light?
I want to thank both Freedom Lite and Nige8021 for their responses. Taking the former first, I hadnt really looked for the 3 empty seats diagram but I will do from now. I would definitely have expected an occupied but unbelted rear seat to have triggered a visual warning or an audible warning or both but that is clearly not the case. It would not have occurred to me to see the 3 seats diagram to change to show one is occupied and is belted then to revert to the 3 empty seats but that clearly is what happens. I will play close attention when I next drive it to check that the 3 seats diagram is there and I will ask my wife to replicate what his wife did, ie sit in the rear without bucking up then buckle up both while I am driving and check that my system works as his did. If the test shows it does then that is how the rear seat system is meant to workand I only have the one query, the passenger seat. That is a big improvement on 3. . I have to say I do find the absence of either audible or visual warning or both when an occupied rear seat passenger is not belted up strange and not what I would have expected but if that is how the system works so be it. I am very grateful to both him and his wife for testing out the rear seat system. Turning to Nige 8021 his suggestions are again much appreciated. Unfortunately, my computer didnt show the map provided in enough detail for me to identify a possible source of help. Its the fault of my computer alone not his map. So I am saying that I live on the Wirral Peninsula and my car is a 17 plate, first registered June 30th 2017. I give the age of the car purely to help anyone who might want to contact so they can check their system would be, in fact, helpful and it could save them a wasted journey. That might well be as far as this particular query can go, time will tell. If it is I have definitely learnt more about how the warning system operates and that cannot in itself be a bad thing.

Is there an easy fix for my inoperative seat belt warning light?
This is another brief update and also asking a favour. My dealership said it would cost me £144 to have the Volkswagen diagnostic system checked. I cant afford that and wont be taking that up. The favour is asking if any Briskodian who has access to VCDS could check whether the 3 seat belt warning lights in question have been disabled. I can supply the VIN if that is required, its too dark now to see that on the car parked outside. If that is the case is it possible to make them active again by ticking boxes on the computer? If that is possible I would happily buy that person a drink. If none of it is possible I will live with the current situation and just forget that the car is supposed to have 4 seat belt warning lights. As i said at the beginning I know this isnt a big deal in the scheme of things and I accept that sometimes cars have problems that cannot be sorted out without a disproportional amount of both time and money being expended. Thanks to everyone who posted to try to help me.

Is there an easy fix for my inoperative seat belt warning light?
Joe, You could well be correct. However, since I last replied earlier today my wife sat in the rear and shifted sides while the engine was running and no light came on in the display either time. We went out for a run and this time my wife sat in the front passenger seat and didnt use the belt and again no light came on. When I drove at approx 30 mph and took my belt off while driving I got the light come up immediately and there was also a "bong". Nothing at all happened when my wife took her seatbelt off while on the same run. Both light and audible warning went off when I put my belt back on. So I do agree with you but sensors must have failed in 3 separate seats judging by what happened today. The sensor is clearly fine in my seat so the most used seat works but not those lesser used seats; it all seems very strange. When I originally posted on this I said that I thought VCDS mighr be involved. Quite by chance I went into a post of April 12th last year by J Grindel "The definitive VCD/.OBD11/Carista List for the Fabia 111". That contained among many other items a reference to seat belt warning lights. The author went to great pains to state that it was highly inadvisable to change anything relating to seat belts on obvious safety grounds but even so it proves that these warning lights can be changed. They shouldnt be but they can be. As 3 of mine have failed it seems a definite possibility that someone did change them. did delete them through VCDS. Either the previous owner if they had access to VCDS or , maybe, a mechanic at the request of the owner. I suppose its just possible they could have been deleted accidentally but I can buy that for 1 or even 2 but for 3?? I certainly havent changed anything, I dont even know how to, but I increasingly think I bought the car in January 2020 with 3 warning lights disabled. I cant think why anyone would want to tamper with such a safety feature but the more I think about it I think someone did. Thanks.
-
Is there an easy fix for my inoperative seat belt warning light?
What I am saying is that the warning light does NOT come on when my wife is sitting in the passenger seat and accidentally forgets to put her seatbelt on while the engine is running. I have accidentally done the same while the engine is running and my light DOES come on in those circumstances. The specification for my car says it has warning lights for both front and rear passengers when their seatbelts are not deployed. I dont know yet whether they work for any rear passengers I will ask my wife to sit in the back without putting her seatbelt on on with the engine running while I am in the drivers seat and see if the rear warning lights come on or not. Thanks for your responses.

Is there an easy fix for my inoperative seat belt warning light?
Hello, I dont see this as a big deal but the warning light for the front passenger seat belt being deployed has never worked ( I think) since I bought the car, a 2017 Fabia SEL 110 estate in January 2020. The drivers side works fine. I rarely carry passengers in the rear so dont know if the warning operates there. I could ask my wife to sit in the back and not deploy her belt and see if the light comes on when the engine is running. In a way that would make it even more puzzling though . I understand from the spec that both front and rear seatbelts are supposed to carry a warning if they are not deployed.. Or the relevant bulb could have simply failed of course. I am wondering if this could be a menu item and if I could reinstate the warning myself. I cant see it as being something I can do via the scroll on the wheel as I have never seen any reference to seat belts when I have scrolled through to see items like distance travelled, oil temperature, speed etc. I have been into the menu but only to look at the front assist( to see if I can change the distance before the assist starts working) the TPMS to enter pressures for storing, average fuel consumption, etc, never to see if seatbelts are in the menu. i honestly cant see anyone deliberately disabling an important safety warning like this but who knows? . If it is only a failed bulb I dont know how to find the failed bulb and replace it and the same applies to a failed sensor if thats the answer. Could this be something for VCDS? I cant access that but if I know this can be used to get the light reinstated I can ask my independent to sort it if they have access when they service the car next week. I dont intend to spend money on this but if there is a simple fix that even I can understand and carry out that would be good. Thanks.
