  1. It’s a problem with ROW cars and the more recent nav updates. My car built in April 2016 was fine on delivery, albeit only showing Shell. Since the update late last year the data has been meaningless.
  2. Wheel hop can be reduced significantly by replacing the pendulum mount ( usually known as the dogbone mount). CTS Turbo, 034 Motorsport, HPA etc make them and they’re quite cheap. Be aware that they can introduce some extra vibration at idle, but it’s said to be quite minor.
  3. VRS mode stop/start ESC off Lock/unlock doors Auto tailgate Park assist Parking sensors off The picture you attached looks like it's of a LHD car. The USB input is on the right, and the buttons seem like they're in a reverse order to mine. The picture on the middle button looks like the tyre pressure monitor symbol, which is a bit odd?
  4. Traffic jam assist is where the car drives itself in stop-start traffic. No internet required. Besides, the traffic alerts you're talking about come over an FM frequency.
  5. I didn't realise Pirelli made tyres tuned for Australia/NZ, or is that marketing BS? I've never heard of the Dragon Sport model. I'd be keen to hear updates when you have more K's on them.
  6. The seats in my vRS are they best I've ever owned. After a 10hr drive (either driving or in passenger seat) I don't have any pain at all, unlike my previous Focus. In that I'd get lower back aches after a few hours.
  7. I just had a quick look at this. Either the Octavia has different settings to the Superb, or there are undocumented values for bits 0-2. My MY16.5 Octavia vRS has 4 in decimal for bits 0-2 (bit 2 is set, 1 & 0 are clear). It also has bit 3 set. Given the VCDS screenshots say Skoda is 1 and Audi is 2 I left it alone for now. Maybe 4 is fast Skoda ;-)
  8. I presume it's the one here I haven't tried it myself yet, I was a bit put off by reports of errors, but that was on Golfs.
  9. That's the best reason I've read so far :-) It does get windy here, but I'm originally from the UK so I'm aware of bad weather ;-)
  10. Perhaps I lack imagination, but I can't think of how they can be that useful? I mean, once the bonnet is open, it's open, and it doesn't matter how it's held up? Do you have reasons to open your bonnet constantly - flat battery, leaking coolant?
  11. I didn't need to do that on my Mac, the update worked first time.
  12. That sounds like my experience. I don't think we can get temperatures on that screen for some reason, only the Golf. I would love to be proved wrong. Having a way to see oil temp without having to flip to it on the maxi dot would be handy.
  13. I've literally just come inside from putting my daughter's similar sized bike in our wagon/estate. It fitted in by just putting the '40' split seat down, rear wheel through that gap. Although from where one of the handles is I don't think it would fit in the hatch.
  14. Do you mean that entire songs in a playlist or album are ignored? I've recently noticed that if you're playing a playlist in Apple Music (the subscription service) and the 3G/4G reception is poor, the iPhone will skip songs that it hasn't downloaded and jump to ones that are local on the phone because it knows it will be able to play them.
  15. Is is this one? https://www.sachsperformance.com/en/clutch-kit/performance-clutch-sachs/performance-clutch-kit-001422-999502 Sachs item number: 001422.999502 I was looking at it just the other day. Being outside the EU I'd get 19% off too which is pretty attractive.
  16. Ah. mine's a manual - I guess that's the difference.
  17. Sounds like the same issue I had in Australia. The system knows where it can be used so refuses to work correctly. You can kind of get around it by making the system only use the cameras and not the Nav database as well. I started a thread in the Octavia forums on vwwatercooled.com.au a couple of months ago. http://www.vwwatercooled.com.au/forums/f149/traffic-sign-recognition-any-luck-enabling-115969.html Also, I noticed in your first picture that you have 'Eco' in the maxidot. I've not seen that on mine. Does it only show Eco or does it also show the other driving modes? My RS only shows them in the top left of the main infotainment screen.
  18. Press the Phone button on the left of the screen, then tap the Carplay button. On Android you do need to scroll through the Menu screen as you described.
  19. But is there actually anything to the "Your navigation system can be updated only from DVD. Please visit your dealer" message from the update portal, or is it just a change in the boilerplate text of the page? It seems cars all over the world are seeing the message which makes me think it's just a standard message badly translated.
  20. Mine was built in April and I got it new 6 weeks ago with 21km on it at delivery. I tried this after work last night and it said SOC---% too.
  21. This is the clutch valve modification I mentioned in another thread: http://www.vwroc.com/forums/topic/12185-tutorial-clutch-delay-valve-removal-manual-cars/ There's also another modification whch involves a return spring on the pedal itself but I can't find the thread at the moment.
  22. Another name to throw into the mix is Cobb Tuning and their Accessport. It's just been launched for our engines (albeit targeting the GTI/R). Don't know much about them other than they're highly regarded in the Subaru world.
  23. I imagine Mazda's designers have a reasonable incentive to get RHD cars correct given that they're Japanese.
  24. Does the black sticker along the bottom of the doors come fitted from the factory, or do the dealers fit it before delivery? The wife would like them on our moon white RS. Our dealer had one on the showroom floor but I forgot to ask.
  25. None of the suggested cars have a boot as large as the Octavia wagon, it was a major selling point for us.
