Strange wonder why is so bad compared to the Fabia. Is there a guide to using VCDS for this?

The 2nd (on the mfd) fuel consumption runs about 50-55mpg but actual useage is 45 No sign of a leak and no smell of desiel around the engine/injectors I've had it for a year and it is always been the same. I did a change of oil and all filter's last year. 88K miles On my old Fabia tdi it was a close match so not sure why this is so different
