  1. Brake Energy Recovery in detail. 3 seperate recordings of voltage and current on the VAG “Smart” alternator. Very interesting the wide scope of both voltage and current across the 3 seperate runs. Equipment used to takes recordings was Fluke AC/DC Volt meter and Fluke DC current meter. Both meters able to record live data. Voltage data recorded directly from battery positive terminal and negative earth connection on the firewall. Current recorded directly from main positive cable 100mm from positive battery terminal. All three runs were over a total of 100+km distance incorporating Urban, highway, and back street roads. 3. Just have both of them, like I do. Weekday Limo, Weekend Racer👌
  4. I had ATE ceramic pads fitted at 15km service on my 280. After a few days bedding in on the original discs, they stop as good as the originals. They are virtually dust free. I can go 2+ weeks without washing the car and the wheels look like I washed them the day before. They still have the shine on the Anthricite whelels. The rear pads in my 280 are ATE and my euro mechanic tells me that they are ceramic as well (no corrosion or uneven wear on the discs) I can’t fault them in any way and I will be buying a set for the front of my Golf Gti Clubsport on it’s next service.
  5. When you make the changes next time, you need to save them via the seat memory. Then each time you start the car it will remember your selection.
  6. Just a quick stop to check out the lights of the Gold Coast!!!
  7. Thanks JR. I see there is 2choices for the Discover pro. Left or right. It’s a 50/50 bet???
  8. Which vehicle did you choose to source the maps from on the VW portal?? Also which Nav system did you choose.
  9. Mine does exactly the same after 5 attempts. Even tried a different SD card. The message is the same on my screen. Definitely an issue with the ROW 2018/2019 maps.
  10. What brand of “add on” chip did you try?
  11. You took the words right out of my mouth. When the flag drops, the bull s&#t stops. Winners are grinners, second is the first looser!!!
  12. Up the tune to 260kW which is well within the current engine limits
  13. Skoda Australia sold a total of 925 Superbs in 2017. Rare as rocking horse poo here. Nice to be in the minority
  14. You can see the battery voltage via the Skoda One app. Charges at 14.4v, floats at 12.9v and goes to 14.9v on brake regeneration. With headlights on it runs at 13.4v once charged.
  15. Mine is rock solid. Might be the washing up liquid allowing it to slip off. I soaked mine for a good 5mins in boiling water to soften up enough to work it over the pedal. It took some effort but got it there. Just make sure you get the edges folded around the pedal properly to keep in place. Sad555’s image above is correct.
  16. Sounds like possible CV joint failure, or wheel bearings. Get them to check these items.
  17. They told me about the booster removal when I arrived on the day. The signal booster is mounted in the rear of the vehicle. It’s about 4” square and is made from aluminium. It looks very much like a heat sink. They never touched the phone box in the centre console because if they had I would have made sure that they fixed the squeaky cup holder that’s been driving me nuts since I bought the car a year ago. The phone box still charges my Samsung S6 wirelessly and I have not noticed any drop in signal strength on the phone or the radio for that matter, not that I listen to much radio when I have 265gb of music without any commercial breaks loaded into the SD slots As JR said, in Oz we have 3 options, Tech Pack, Comfort Pack & Image Pack. The Tech pack gives you things like the Canton sound system, wireless charging, adaptive chassis control, all the assist options, virtual pedal etc. The Comfort pack adds leather, vented/heated/electric seats. The Image pack (which is standard on the 206kw 4x4) adds Kessy, 19” rims, LED lighting, multi function steering wheel etc. If you order all 3 packs, you basically get every option available, except towbar. Overall, I didn’t know the booster was there from the start and didn’t notice any change after it was removed.
  18. I had both the wireless charging and signal booster in mine. Went in to the dealer back in July 2017 for the lane assist update and they removed the booster as it was on the Skoda recall (I was never notified of this). Still have wireless charging and didn’t notice any difference from a signal point of view. Was as told by the dealer that the booster was not compliant here in Oz, that was 9 months ago.
  19. Glad I could help. With the extra $$ you saved, buy yourself a nice single malt and celebrate!!!
  20. After a year of listen to the dreaded creaking and groaning of the sunroof in my sedan, I can honestly say the problem has now been solved. From day one I have put up with these noises which have driven me to the brink of starting to hate my Superb. After two different dealers looked at the vehicle, both saying that can’t find a problem, it has come down to a fellow Aussie Superb owner (Alcoop) who found the fix even after his dealer replaced the entire sunroof, frame and all associated components - with zero success. Following Alcoop’s instructions, I sat in the rear seat and reached up running my hand across the back of the roof lining which lines up flush with the sunroof framework. Giving a sharp pull down on the roof lining on each corner, the roof lining will unclip from the sunroof frame. Because the roof lining is a one piece moulded unit, the roof lining will not sag down. You will end up with the roof lining edge now slightly below the sunroof frame across the back edge of the sunroof. See photo. The roof of the vehicle will still flex when the car is in motion due to the big hole in the middle of the roof (sunroof) but now the roof lining won’t flex with it. The moulded roof lining is the cause of all the noises. When attached to the sunroof frame, the lining twists and flexes along with the roof creating the noises we are all experiencing. In addition to the noises, both Alcoops and I suffered from the sunblind gathering up when opening the blind, once the roof lining was released from the framework, this also released the pressure that was being placed on the sunblind cassette and now the sunblind retracts effortlessly without any form of gathering up. This was a pleasant surprise as I have been suffering with this problem since day one as well. Bottom line, it’s all down to the roof lining fixing points at the back of the sunroof flexing with the roof/sunroof and creating the noises. Once released, all noises etc disappear. It astounds me that the dealers and Skoda themselves can’t figure this out and just fob off the customer because we complain about something that is not correct. In this case it comes down to owners of the vehicle to find the cause and create a simple fix. Skoda need to have a look at the way the roof lining is designed in sedans that have the sunroof and modify the design to eliminate this problem. At the very least, they need to issue a technical bulletin to the dealers to apply this simple fix that a lot of owners have complained about across the globe. As you can see in the photos, you wouldn’t even know if the lining had been detached from the roof. I am now falling back in love with my Superb. Now if I can just fix the squeaks coming from the cup holder in the centre console (the dealers said that they all do it…I call Bulls%*t) I will be a very happy boy...any suggestions??
