  1. Hi Expatman Similar opinion really. Took delivery of our yeti a couple of weeks ago. Specified a spare with raised floor as part of the deal. Admittedly the spare is a thin one (the first I have ever had) but know I'll be much happier travelling with it in the boot than relying on the 'huff and puff stuff', which wrecks a tyre anyway. So, the raised boot floor eats into luggage capacity a bit but plenty of storage compartments around the wheel for storing bits and bobs and the spare will get me home or to a tyre depot whether I fit it myself or call out the AA. Incidentally, (not hijacking the thread) but had my first DPF regeneration today. Part way through when I switched off I reckon. Engine smelled as if it was about to ignite and fans ran like RB211's for about 10 minutes. Scared me a bit but thanks to other forum posts I'm reassured that all is well. Thought I'd share this with you in case you experience the same. Enjoy yours when you get it.

    Our cool Yeti

  3. Hello again folks Doesn't really seem like 3 months since we ordered our new yeti and I joined the forum.....but we've now had the car for a week. Ordered through Skodastore, very good customer service and delivered exactly as predicted on 1st Dec. Car is great. Still getting used to the various set up options available ( suspect it'll take us some time !) but so far (250 miles in) all seems well. Engine seems very eager but I'm taking things easy for the first 1000 miles or so. Looking forward to getting the caravan on the back and heading off somewhere next year. Have taken couple of photos just after cleaning. It looks good in red. I'll try to work out how to post photos somewhere as files are too big for this post. ( Newby !) Have fun
  4. ha ha, now there is a true skoda fanatic, thanks for the link to those pics. Brought back some memories, I can tell you. I've got some old photos of our estelle somewhere. Will try to find them and put them on. We had a lot of fun in it. Did quite a bit of camping then, have fond memories of a 1000 mile trip around scotland - the tent wouldn't go in the boot ( or was it the bonnet ? so it travelled in the car with the back seats dropped forward. We stopped at a very isolated garage somewhere in the wilds and the elderly pump attendant - yes there was one - had obviously never seen an estelle before and asked if it was a porsche. We had to explain that although it was rear engined and had 4 wheels....there wasn't much else in common with the german machine. As I recall, the car was generally quite reliable and economical except for an annoying habit of breaking clutch pedal springs and a frightening steering wobble at one point.
  5. Being a newbie, not sure whether this is how I respond to the replies I get ( someone will, no doubt put me straight ) anyway, thanks Clive and Superb170. A lifetime ago ( well 37 years almost to the day), we were eagerly awaiting collection of our (then) new Red Skoda Estelle - complete with black vinyl roof. Happy days !
  6. Thought I'd sign up while waiting for my new Yeti outdoor SE to be built. (Provisionally second week of November...so not long now !) Looking forward to getting behind the wheel(s) with my caravan on the back. Some very interesting and informative topics on the site. I'll be back soon.
