  1. I have a 2012 VRS in Australia, Not part of the recall but I had the MCU fail on my box fail in the space of a 40km round trip. Car only has 90,xxx KM 56K Miles. I am still waiting for a call back from the local dealer for "labour pricing" to get the repair done. (it failed on Saturday the week just gone) The spares department quoted me over the phone really quickly for the new MCU, Fluid and bolts. I got bored waiting for their call by mid-monday, called the automatic transmission shop I know that's not too far away to check if they worked on them. Had it towed and in less than 24 hours from them getting it a new MCU was fitted. Total cost $3300 Australian. It's a 1/4th the value of the car as it sits but I was not going to wait around and argue with the dealer considering it was nearly a 12 month process to get them to fix my engine.
  2. The dashcam issue with crashing on boot is something I had as well. I migrated to a dedicated dashcam to get around this.
  3. Parking Sensors work on my GA6153F, so do doors/bonnet/boot notifications.
  4. Do you have any product suggestions for this? I want to swap my low-beam for something better. I am on my 3rd set of fairly pricey globes (3rd brand too), they just don't seem to last in the Fabia.
  5. Less than 30 seconds to radio on usually. If you you use the reversing camera features, they work nearly instantly. The lines and that come on at the 30 sec mark.
  6. I have on of the Eonon units I got for my 2012. https://www.eonon.com/Car-Type/VW.html Fit and finish is awesome, it looks like factory. Reversing camera also works like a charm. There are also other eBay jobs you can get. The microphone in mine is OK... it's not as good as the factory fitted one (I have bluetooth in the old Swing) It works for talking to my wife on a drive. I am looking at upgrading to the newer unit shortly to get more RAM... it's the only super slow thing with these.
  7. The donor char all back in one piece. I fixed the foam on the side with some harder closed cell foam around the metal support and padded it out with craft store soft foam, plus a layer of gaffers tape to secure it all in the original shape. I will keep that trick for when the replacement fails again ( i hear this foam collapsing is quite common) Great to know it's an easy fix for later, I wanted to have a replacement on hand just in case it was TOTALLY messed up, the damage was bad but not irreparable.
  8. it's done, feel great. I picked up a Monte donor seat, complete with Airbag (ill resell that to recoup some of the cost 1) Pull the airbag and seatbelt sensor 2) Rip it out and move the seatpad 3) Pull the seat base off the frame, a few screws and this plastic rim that actually anchors the fabric to the seat base,/ I started at the back of the seat first, you can slightly bend the metal to make it far nicer to remove, pull it from the edge and it pops right out 4) Pop it out and lift the edges to uncover the hog rings 5) cut the hog rings to remove the fabric from the foam You will also need to remove the two side metal rods to be able to get to the hog rings in the middle 6) The they tough little things so have a selection of side cutters 7) Marvel at how messed up your seat foam was 8) Use ebay hogring tool to re-attach the foam to trhe metal cross supports 9) Clamp it baby 10) reverse your actions of removing the fabric, put the plastic back on and put the seat back in the car Looks GREAT and feels great. Total coast including the hog ring tool, $220 AUD (i sould be able to get $70 for the other airbag or have a really cool computer chair
  9. Well, There is a few Monte's in local wreckers with low k's One 6K and one 5K so, ill get one of those and throw the bits of the seat I don't need... Or turn them into a computer chair I don't want to hand replace foam on a seat in my car, a seat at home... sure!
  10. The seat foam on my drivers seat has given way on the right side. It's now digging into me and becoming really annoying. Anyone have the part number for the underneath foam. I asked the dealer who replaced my engine about it, they quoted an ENTIRE seat + Airbag I just want the foam and ill work out how to remove the fabric clips or get a local trimmer to do it.
  11. If you find a really nice CAI for the VRS I would be willing to split some postage with you, I am Sydney Based
  12. I have the older version of this (android 5, 1GB Ram) http://www.eonon.com/productshow.aspx?pno=GA5177F Works great, a little slow when running as a dashcam as well, but I just replaced the dashcam part with a blackview. Also really handy it running android, I added a 4G dongle into the car for it to connect to, it also gives me the last known location of my car etc.
  13. New engine in. 500km down and not a drop of oil used on the dip stick (cold to cold measurement) I will keep watching to see. Can anyone tell me what comes on the long block? I need to know what I will have to replace eventually (plugs/coils etc) The parts list for my repair was the long block and around 15 different seal and bolt kits.
  14. Just got the word today, Mine is being replaced. A cylinder 3 was WAY out of spec, the warranty provider had them do a complete tear down and detailed measurements to see if replacing just the rings would fix the issue.
  15. dammit, I am looking for something like that and this was super cheap.... seems it did't sell, ill wait for them to relist
  16. I have this one, http://www.totalcardiagnostics.com/shop/car-diagnostic-tools/vag/vagcom-vcds-17 Works like a charm! They go into the fact it's genuine software and a 3rd party chip with mirrored firmware. I have used it on 3 cars so far, no issues at all
  17. A new CAT was installed with the breather mods, it went from literal spots of oil on my tailgate to soot. And the rebuild comes with a 2 Year/60K warranty.
  18. I had the Jets and Breathers done a few months ago, Put the oil usage from 1.84L/1000KM down to 0.84L/1000KM The cost to the extended warranty provider was ~$2500 I had turbo seals done a few weeks earlier at a cost of ~$1200 to the warranty provider. Each oil consumption test is also ~$200 Under boost it still makes a cloud off the line, exhaust is sooty black and so is the back of my car. The dealer has finally started the process with Skoda to get me a full engine tear down and repair. It's apparently a long block job. 2 Weeks, ~$9000 in parts alone The repairs for the engine work alone is going to end up costing MORE than the car. There are also 2 other outstanding warranty repairs that will get done at the same time that will run into a few thousand extra. This is a vehicle with less than 80,000km No mods, always either dealer serviced or serviced by my mechanic to the book every 10k MAX The two services I have done are 7.5k apart.
  19. I found it, It's under the drivers seat on mine. A TINY access hole to get to it. I have since disabled it via VCDS You have to route your own mic, IT has one in the unit as it is, it's just junk Maxidot works somewhat with my headunit.
  20. I have a CAV engined vRS I am going through the hoops with the dealer at the moment in regards to the oil usage and some DSG jerkyness (only the last 300km or so) I have had the stage 2 fix done already (breathers and squirters) and I am still around 700ml/1000km under city/rapid driving. I am just sick of the black soot covering the back of my car and oil spots when it's mixed with rain. Mine is still covered under extended warranty for a whole 2 more months! (skoda factory extended) How much are you looking at spending? I want to get a vRS 245 Octavia Wagon when they come to Aus!
  21. Early 2012 Fabia VRS (Australian Delivered Car) Has the Factory bluetooth installed with the microphone in the lighting cluster. I swapped in a Eonon Android unit, everything is working great with the unit, however.... If I press the Volume / Phone button on the car, the MFD switches to the "SKODA_BT" Menu and Pairing. My Phone was still paired with the unit until I jumped all the hoops to disconnect and delete the profiles. It's still visible when you search for Bluetooth devices on your phone. (hell the Android unit can see it) The MEDIA Menu (controlled by the eonon also only works when a phone is paired) Now, I want to unplug the Factory bluetooth module as it's still communicating with the MFD It's not under the rear seats or under the drivers or passengers seat. So where the hell is it?
  22. My Australia Delivered Car Green Fabia II vRS 1.4 TSi 5/2012 Build (CAVE) Black Roof & Mirrors Tech Pack (Cruise / Bluetooth Etc, Reversing sensors) I have the Mudflaps, Wind Defectors, and a Eonon Android 5.1 headunit on the way. Car is very clean, 66,000KM (41K Miles) Warranty till 9/17
