  1. the stud holding the timing belt tensioner snapped and the belt come off, bent valves everywhere haha
  2. hi everyone, bad times have happened lately, replaced timing belt few months ago all done as it was supposed to, torqued tensioner up correctly etc. also fitted a new tensioner stud and thats where everything went pear shaped, it snapped. belt kit and stud were genuine parts, bad luck i guess. anyway the car owes me to much money for me to want to cut my losses and ive just replaced the turbo as well so its staying. ill be getting a replacement engine for it and fitting a new flywheel and clutch. is there anything else on these that would be worth changing while its in bits? (2006 estate 2.0tdi 140 bkd) ill be taking the glw plugs from the old engine as theyre also new and it will obviously have all new filters and oil. ...off i go to sell a kidney... atb, gaj
  3. Service was top notch. Gave them a ring and ordered the turbo, turned up next day. When the job was done, packed old turbo up in the box the new one came in. Gave them a ring and they collected it the next day. I fitted mine my self, pretty straight forward other than a stupid exhaust clamp that didn't want to let go. I have used Midland a few times before and never had a single problem with them.
  4. changed mine a few months ago, bought a recon from midland turbo. next day delivery. think it cost around £280
  5. recon turbo fitted today and all filters changed filled up with some fresh oil and shes running like a dream, power delivery is very smooth compared to before. pulls very well now, its like a different car.
  6. to be honest, im not that bothered about it, i love the car so dont mind spending the money on it.
  7. youve got that right mate, i was tempted to take it back just to make a fuss but i cant be bothered with the grief. i was going to take it to a garage to be done, but thought whats the point, at least ill know its done right and everything that needs changing has been changed. it needs a few other bits doing as well, needs a timing belt and its having a full set of new glow plugs. the thing will be like brand new this week haha
  8. i havent got it yet, but will be getting it from midland turbo as ive used them before.
  9. Ok, so the turbo is off. It is indeed a second hand unit. It's even still got the tipex written on it. Now to decide whether I want it rebuilt for 200 quid or a recon unit for 400 quid...
  10. aaaah well, didnt last long. have been having problems with the car going into limp mode under load, when the turbo was replaced they said theyd fitted a recon unit, so was convinced the overboost code was caused by something else. turns out they lied and fitted a second hand turbo. was using the car at the weekend and out of nowhere the siren noise started and within about 20 miles it was screaming at me. so this time im fitting a recon unit myself, atleast then ill know the jobs done properly. now just need it to stop raining long enough to get it off.
  11. just having a read through the forum and realised that i hadnt updated this, turns out theyd fitted a second hand turbo and didnt replace the oil feed pipe. new turbo number 2 was fitted along with a new oil pipe and an extended warranty and all has been well since. just though id update incase someone comes across it looking for a solution. cheers for all the help.
  12. well, took the car back yesterday morning and he werent there but the guy i spoke to said it was going back to see garage. so will see what happens and will update when i know more
  13. that sounds likely as it is using a hell of a lot of oil, ive got to top it up just to take it back in the morning. i can accept that he probably didnt/doesnt know whats going on with it, what i cant deal with is his bad attitude as thats whats likely to make me ask for a refund and take my hard earned elsewhere.
  14. yeah id have thought they wouldve cleaned the system out. think hes just making his excuses to try and run the warranty out, im more than willing to have my money back and look for something else to be honest. and its looking like that how its going to be going by his attitude, ive had 2 heated discussions with him now and both have resulted in him putting the phone down on me. yep 120 miles and i ended up putting a litre in to get it back to full. doesnt seem to smoke when its on boost though only at low revs which is strange.
  15. any one any ideas? taking the car back tomorrow morning after an argument with him today, had to put in just over a litre after doing 120 miles. he thinks its just oil in the system from the old turbo being fubar. told me to drop it off and hell drive it around for a week. that wont be happening, either he fixes it or ill have my money back and find another one.
