  1. +1 for me. Tyre noise from my Nokian Winter tyres is lower than the Bridgestones. I reckon it rides a bit better on them also.
  2. Sorry, I was responding to the OP, rather than your post. If you follow this link you will see which phones are supported. http://www.skoda.co.uk/about-us/mirrorlink-faqs
  3. I've recently changed my Android phone and had some issues with linking it up to Smartlink. It might not be helpful for Apple products, but after changing the cable, I discovered there was a Mirrorlink button on my phone, under connections, which needed to be turned on to allow the phone to sync up with the header unit. Might be worth checking if there is a similar thing on your iphone.
  4. My Petrol vRS is a 65 plate. Components look very different on mine. Certainly not oily.
  5. I quite enjoyed my recent countdown, especially as I knew my Service was booked in 1 day before the countdown was complete. If having a reminder is stressful, maybe missing a service when it's due might be even more concerning.
  6. V Power has been Scientifically proven to make a driver look far more sophisticated and sexy whilst standing at the pump.
  7. I was working on the basis of around £60-£75 quid an hour. Wonder how long it takes to pop a motor off and put a new one on? I've no problem with Garages making a living, but as I said, I have History with this Dealer. If I can lead my Dad away from them, I will..
  8. Indeed they do, and thanks for the reminder. In fact this Dealer tried to charge me £40 a pop to investigate two issues whilst the car was in warranty. I got those charges back after help from this forum.
  9. My Dad has a 14 Plate Octavia. The Car is about a Month out of Warranty. Recently the rear wiper packed in so he booked the car in to his local dealer (despite my concerns that they are untrustworthy). He asked if the issue could be dealt with a bit of good will in mind as the car was so recently out of Warranty. The Dealer in question claimed that there was a minimum charge of £100 (plus VAT) for any investigation work. It turned out that it was the wiper Motor and this was replaced (cost of part, plus minimum charge. Apparently the part was heavily discounted as the car was so recently out of Warranty. I have no idea about costs of parts, so cannot confirm or deny this) Now, I have a downer on this particular Dealer as they have caused me issues, so I am naturally sceptical of this "minimum" charge. I have a feeling this is just a means of extracting money from someone, but willing to put the question out there for confirmation or denial. Why would the normal Hourly rate not be charged?
  10. Was this Winchester Skoda, by any chance?
  11. Called up Meadens of Sway and they quoted £149 immediately. No question about the car being under 3 years. A bit more in fuel costs, but I've had enough of Winchester Skoda, so prepared to give them a go.
  12. Just spoken again with dealer and they stated the £149 is for cars over 3 Years of age. It does actually state this in the small print, but the Lady I spoke with couldn't confirm why it was more expensive and what I got for my extra £25, or why the £269 for a Major service I was originally quoted was the same as the Fixed Price, but not the Minor Service charge.
  13. Ta, so I take it the £184.82 is my Dealer trying to maximise their income? EDIT: Also, as I haven't actually done 10K miles since the last service (7 Months ago) Anyone know the possible implications of holding on for an extra Month until I've reached the 10K mark? (It's not a biggy, but if the indicator is going to come on early every time, it has an impact over a few Years)
  14. I've had an 'Inspection In 30 days' flag come up on my Maxidot, this morning. I bought my Car on 4/11/2016 - The car was first registered in August 2016 and during the first 15 Months of its life the car did a gob smacking 4139 miles! When I bought the car, I got a bit of paper saying it underwent a Flexible Oil Change Service on 20/09/2016. Since I bought the Car, I've done 7800 miles and it's sitting at 11900, so I was a bit surprised that the reminder has come up so early (2200 miles short of 10k) I called my dealer and firstly the guy I spoke with told me the car was due a Major Service at a Cost of £269. I queried as to why this was due so far short of the 20K Mark and 2 Years. He checked this and came back advising in fact, the service due was an oil and filter change, 'inspection' and Pollen filter change at £184.82. He couldn't explain why the indicator has come up now and suggested it was because I do a lot of short journey's (I don't) My confidence with this dealer isn't great and before I book anything in I'd appreciate if anyone can confirm or deny if the 'inspection' service at £185 is a reasonable cost and perhaps shed some light on why the indicator has come up still with 2200 miles before the 10K mark (appreciate that over the next Month I will probably do another 1200 miles, so it might just be a conservative reminder.
  15. I think the issues may be related to the app, rather than the Head Unit. Good news is that I got Audible to run today. However it stopped working after an hour and I had to reboot. My issues relating to Spotify not playing Albums in the correct order can seemingly be rectified by saving albums as playlists, rather than 'Albums'.
  16. I'm finding issues with Spotify on Android Auto. Albums don't play in order. Music stops after a couple of tracks. I attempted to use Audible to listen to an audio book but despite showing it, it wouldn't play. Scrolling through Spotify Albums manuallly on the head unit gets blocked if the car is moving. Voice commands don't seem to work.. a bit of a useless expenditure..
  17. My rattle was as noisy at a stand still as it was on the move, so very easy for me to hear. It's possible the issue presents itself differently in different cars.
  18. While the car is stationary, depress the accelerator and hold the revs at the point the rattle comes in. Although it could be something other than the fuel line, having the car at a standstill might help isolate the issue. I was able to do this with my fuel line rattle and it eventually demonstrated to the dealership that this was the issue they were looking for. No problems since!
  19. Over the past 5 Months my TSI has a best of 37 mpg and a worst of 31 mpg (Based on actuals, not Maxidot). I do a mix of long range dual carriageway and Motorway, plus urban and local runs (dependent on where I'm driving for work). I'm averaging 15K miles per Year.
  20. My Old Man has a Cappuccino Beige Mkiii and his Wife has a Cappuccino Beige Fabia. It's like a branch of Costa's on their driveway..
  21. If an estate is an absolute necessity, then please ignore me , however, have you looked at a Hatch? Reason I say this is I was 100% certain I was going to get an estate, coming from a Mk2 estate. however the Hatch boot is vast (same size as the estate up to the hatch cover). I frequently carry a full PA Kit, plus lots of other bits and since owning the hatch, I don't miss the extra bit of height in the hatch. Thought I'd put that out there, if it helps in any way. Probably a lot more examples of the engine and gearbox you're looking for in the hatch, also.
  22. Should not be a problem, as glosrich states. I fitted a similar sized bike into the back of my mkii estate, without needing any of the 'estate' part, if you see what I mean! Fitted a household door in the back of my Dad's hatch the other day. One end rested against the back of the front seats and the hatch closed right down - spacious, is the word!
  23. You are a braver Man than, I venturing out on a bike
