  1. I got a 2014 VRS TDi DSG in November to replace an Audi A4. Never looked back! Great in sport/normal mode and pretty efficient on my commute. I'm 26 miles each way on mostly dual/motorway and I have not gone under 50mpg. A couple of average speed 40mph sections but mostly 70mph (ish) and using eco mode for this I see 55mpg on most trips. The extra trip to shops, visiting people bring the average down but as I said - not seen under 50 in over 4 months. My Audi was averaging 39mpg under the same conditions (although it was 2.5TDi and Quattro).
  2. I paid £450 - but it's a friend of a friend so got a good deal. Was quoted nearer £600 from a different place. Removed back box from LHS, placed new cylindrical resonated box in centre channel (placed roughly under where the handbrake is), split into two and lined up with each exit. Been a few cold mornings and I'm glad to see smoke from either side... Not changed driving style and my average mpg (weekly 260 miles) has gone up from 51 - 52.5mpg.
  3. Thanks Petunet, That is probably the easiest fix for me. Doesn't need to be too neat, just cut out some of the light shining through. Now I can start thinking about my remap....
  4. Hi, I've just had a stainless steel exhaust custom built on my TDi - my OCD couldn't stand the dummy RHS look (debated in another thread elsewhere I believe...) Anyway, the LHS looks spot on and I'm happy with that. I do have a little issue with the RHS though. On the TDi the chrome exhaust trims are not matched, the one on the LHS has a lot more depth to it - I guess to collect the emissions effectively. The RHS however is quite shallow and you can see right through it to the new exhaust. Could someone clarify if the petrol VRS's have matching trims - i.e. the RHS has the same depth as the LHS. If so, I can try to source one of these just to satisfy my OCD and need for symmetry! (If anyone has a spare one after upgrading their exhaust let me know what you'd like for it) Thanks.
  5. My 14 plate does this on cold mornings too. I believe, in my case anyway, its the touchscreen on the Bolero. It actually re-stored DAB startions and lost the logo on position 1 when I let it continue the first time. All I do now is switch off the screen for 5 minutes and it never seems to happen. Maybe a similar thing on yours. I've convinced myself that running my finger around all of the outside edge of the screen when its turned off seems to stop it too.
  6. Thanks Jaco2k, I don't want to lose any of the interfaces ie. MFSW/maxidot so thought OEM would be the best option. Will do a bit more reading on this and make a decision after Christmas.
  7. Thanks TDIum, I had gone through up to page 60 of this forum reading any relevant posts - never looked on ICE. I appreciate the fact nobody gave the 'try searching' answer. I'll now try searching in the correct place...
  8. Hi, First post after changing from A4 Quattro to MY14 Octavia VRS Tdi. After just a week of use I am finding the sound system pretty underwhelming compared to my Audi - which had rear subwoofer. (Non-bose system) Was wondering what are my options to improve this? I would love to swap out for Amundsen or Columbus (but not sure if that's possible/in my budget) as this would also give me Smartlink/Mirrorlink which I don't have. Should I be going down the amp/sub route - will this plug/play with the Bolero? Do the speakers need replacing - I'd rather not do this as pulling door cards etc never really goes back as snug. Anyone out there with a similar setup who could offer any suggestions on a £100-£200 budget? Don't want window rattling bass - just feel the sound is nut as 'full' as I'm used to. Cheers, Alan
