  1. I put in Philips X-treme vision 130% bulbs as soon as I took delivery - didn't even use the standard bulbs once. The high beam is fine, I just find the dipped light with halogens to not be very good and, with age, I find as need as much light as possible to highlight potholes and the like. Some times I long for DSG, other times I'm glad to have a manual change as I enjoy the driver involvement (except for the reluctant downshifts). Agreed - I'm not keen on how Mercedes do it in terms or poor integration of the screen. I think the way other manufacturers do it probably works better over all - ie higher screen and manipulation via a separate controller. It seems VAG are set on dedicated touchscreen systems for the foreseeable future though. Sounds like perhaps you are talking about the optional wiper on a saloon. The wash on the estate is renowned for being fairly useless - mainly due to the positioning of the nozzle I think - washer fluid just doesn't get across enough of the glass.
  2. Ah, with mine it may well because I coded it via VCDS and the ability to enable it below 40mph doesn't seem to be there on MY17 cars.
  3. 1. Better ride over poor (ie most) road surfaces. (It's not a smooth as some reviews made it out to be). 2. Radio station change to pop up in the maxi-dot when android auto is being used and the maxi-dot is set to show current speed. 3. Xenon / LED headlights rather than halogens. 4. Less notchy gear change - is sometimes very reluctant to change down to 2nd or 3rd when being rushed. 5. 1st gear to be a bit longer - but really just characteristic of most manual diesels, so probably wish it was DSG. 6. Auto-high beam to work below 40mph. 6. Lane assist to work below 40mph. 7. Sat nav screen to be mounted higher so is more in line of sight with road. 8. Retractable parcel shelf to retract smoothy and fully. 9. Rear wash wipe is next to useless.
  4. Managed 69.8mpg last week over a 135 mile journey from London to the midlands. This was cruising at around 60mph. Added about 20 mins to the normal journey time. At normal speed it tends to do be about 58-59mpg for that journey. Managed 49.6mpg today over 12.5 miles across SE London between 7am - 8am (school holidays so traffic better than normal - but still very impressive I thought).
  5. Any chance you can outline what work was done and which parts were changed to rectify this please? Quite sure my car has the same issue. Cheers
  6. Mic issue sounds like probably a dealer job due to poor connection. I'm fairly certain there are no settings etc that would accidentally turn off the mic. Maybe try without a phone connected incase that is in someway interfering. I suppose you could also try resetting the head unit by holding in the on button until it restarts.
  7. Elastic & hook is for temporarily holding up the boot floor for you to make moving stuff in or out easier.
  8. Music streaming service but with hi-fi lossless audio (equal or better than CD apparently). http://www.whathifi.com/best-buys/streaming/best-music-streaming-services
  9. The standard stereo is pretty good I think -with a decent source at least. I might try the free trial of Tidal to see if it is noticeably different (I doubt it in a car with various other noises muddying the sound anyway).
  10. Just to note that I've found the sound to be pretty bad when listening to DAB radio - perhaps because the standard stereo is actually half decent and so highlights the relatively poor quality of the DAB broadcast.
  11. Any progress with this from anyone? I've tried inserting some 4mm tubing into the door seal to tighten the fit, and also tried some rubber treatment (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Gummi-Pflege-Rubber-Stick-100ml/dp/B007TNOQDI) but neither seem to have made any difference yet. I've noticed the chrome window trim appears a bit ill-fitting in place and wonder whether this might be the source of the noise.
  12. Is there anything approaching a consensus on the best settings (tone, balance and fader) to use with the standard system? Notwithstanding the limited amount to tweaking that can be done, has anyone gone to the trouble of doing anything like this: http://www.carstereochick.com/2012/08/09/how-to-properly-set-an-equalizer-in-a-car-audio-system/ ?
  13. Ali Express door LEDs now fitted - brighter, yes, but I'm not completely sure if I'm sold on how they look as you can see the separate glows from each individual diode through the lens. Might just be case of getting used to it. Tip for any one going this - once the LED board is fitted, it's easier to pull out the complete light unit, then fit the lens back on, and then push the whole unit back into place.
  14. It's Quartz Grey - I'm not completely sure about it to be honest. Some days, in the sun, in looks good, other times I think it is just a bit dull. My preference was probably for silver, but my fiancé preferred the grey.
  15. Fitted these LEDs to the boot. Work well and a big improvement. Required a tiny enlargening of the hole with a Stanley knife, and, as others have mentioned, they need to be fitted the other way around to the stock units. http://s.aliexpress.com/Y3Mb6vUj Door, reversing and indicator LEDs yet to be fitted. Also, delivery from Ali Express has been much quicker than expected.
  16. Oh and Colour Maxi-Dot (if not standard on the Sportline) is another cheap option I'd add - less than £10 a year if you keep the car for 10 years. Will help to keep the dash looking modern for longer.
  17. I would not hesitate on Traffic Sign Assist personally for the sake of £85 of whatever it is. In itself it is worth that, and the 'free' features it unlocks are both very good to have. Plus even if you end up not using them they wouldn't hurt the appeal of the car when you come to sell when such things will likely be common place.
  18. Apologies all for the multiple duplicate posts - the mobile version of the forum was not behaving properly on my phone.
  19. Yes, Traffic sign assist is a good option as it allows lane assist and high beam assist to be enabled (if these aren't already standard).
  20. Yes, that was just a typical journey I do and which is likely to be representative of the average trip I make. Below is the long term so far according to the car, and in my signature is the Fuelly calculated figure (although I think this is only visible on the non-mobile version of the forum).
  21. Has anyone with a halogen headlight car replaced the front indicators with led bulbs as well as the rears? I've got 1 pair of Ali Express led bulbs for the rear (but not yet fitted), and just realised the fronts would probably want doing too.
