  1. Sounds like it. I don't mind the ride if on my own it's just other members of my family that moan. I must admit that speed humps make the back of the car jump though. Dcc on my next one
  2. Hi, back from service, guys checked out the suspension and it's all fine. Tyre pressures too. Had a fine drive from thornbury to yeovil, 75 miles, 90 minutes, cruise control most of the way, over 47mpg. Not bad for 2 litre petrol VRS! Hello all by the way, for all those that are interested, Westlake I think is a Devonian or Cornish name, my great grandfather moved from mining timing Cornwall to Wales to mine coal. This is where all my recent family is from, I however was born in billericay but now live near bristol. Came to skoda from 2 bad bmws and a really bad Merc. To get to a decent spec I had to go highish miles, but then got this skoda (loaded) at a year old. Love it
  3. Cheers for the replies guys, didn't spec DCC as it's an ex demonstrator so I got it a year old for giveaway money, loaded with leather, heated seats washers and screen. also sunroof and towing hitch. its in for a service on Friday, will get the guys to check transit blocks out! as I said, it doesn't bother me , just those pesky rear seat passengers who didn't mention anything about the hard ride on the 32 mile test drive I took them on. Anyway, it's more comfortable than the bmw I traded in for it and the previous AMG merc! The state of our roads doesn't help really either.
  4. I'm not complaining about the hard suspension - it's fine when I'm in the car on my own but passengers in the back complain quite a bit - mainly my daughter. Really miffed as I always ask "is everyone happy with the car? Is there anything to stop me buying it?" But no-one says a thing. So, what I'm asking is are there any good adjustable shocks out there - soft for family trips but then hard again when on my own? I must admit my other car - a Mazda mx5 handles fantastically but still has a MUCH softer ride than the VRS. Any advice appreciated
  5. recently joined the forum, now saying hello!
  6. I have no experience of the vag system but the one on my previous BMW was rubbish. I noticed that one front wheel looked flat so checked it and it had only 9 psi in it. The tyre was of a different type to the others so maybe that made a difference. Also, because of this, if the tyres got too warm e.g. On a run to the airport, the different treads changed differently and the system bleeped indicating a fault, of which there was none. My advice? Keep the tyres on the axles the same.
  7. Bright red Octavia vrs (petrol). Welcome return to petrol after some disastrous BMW diesels, no more dpf failures!
